CH: 80 I hate hospitals.

(Jamison POV)

I don't like hospitals; never been a fan of them.

No patient in a hospital is usually here for a good thing unless they're giving birth or working.

I hate hospitals, so why am I currently in one right now? Because there was no way in hell I would stand by and let that prick get away or think he would get away with what he did.

"Hey, I found out what room the kid is in, and I also contacted someone I know who would be able to analyze the car; he just would have to make sure that he would be able to get to the car in time. He's going to call about it as well. Let's go." Rosemary said as she led the way. She took a glance at me and spoke.

"You don't like being here." She said nothing more. I held back a smile.

"No, they make me very uncomfortable, but I am okay with being here right now, besides I am not going to leave you alone to deal with this situation by yourself," I said, looking at her.

She raised a brow.

"Why, are you worried that I wouldn't be able to deal with it?" She asked me.

I shook my head, knowing that there was nothing that I felt Rosemary wouldn't be able to handle.

"It's not that; you don't have to deal with this alone. Not when I'm around, especially if I can be with you." I said.

We entered an elevator, and she turned around to face me.

"I feel the same way, I don't want you dealing with something alone especially if I am here for you, you can share the weight with me anytime." She said.

This woman had no idea the impact she had on my life.

"You're amazing you know that?" I asked her.

"Of course I do." She said, causing me to let out a small chuckle.

The elevator dinged, opening, and we both walked out of the elevator, heading towards the hospital room.

"Do you hear that?" Rosemary asked. I did hear that. A person was raising their voice, and that person was that prick, as his voice was something no one could forget.

Rosemary and I walked towards the room, she opened the door, and the room fell quiet.

"What, more people? I don't see the reason why you're here." The prick said; his face was red, veins were noticeable on his neck, and he had a sneer on his face, but what caught my attention, even more was the boy lying in bed. Frightened, call entirely drained from his face, and tears fell.

Agent Brown and Rodriguez were here, with stone looks on their face, but there were two women there as well. Two I hadn't met, one looked to be an agent as well, and the other woman had anger written all over her face when unshed tears in her eyes.

As I stared at her more, I thought she had some features similar to the woman on whom Rosemary and I performed an autopsy; of course, she did. She was her sister.

"I don't understand how I am unable to not only be alone in a room with my son, but how you think you can threaten me this way." The prick said.

I raised a brow at what he was saying.

"No one threatened you. We said that DCF and CPS will be here soon." Agent Brown said, holding his ground.

My stare moved toward the kid; he was quiet.

I knew from the look on his face he knew that his mother was gone. When she died, my eyes moved to the woman beside him. The woman that no one else but me and Rosemary could see. His mother was beside him, staring at her son with a sad expression.

"That is threatening. Why do DCF and CPS need to be here? I also don't why you two are here either." He said, turning around to look at Rosemary and me. When he turned to look at Rosemary, a hateful look appeared on his face.

Rosemary tilted her head.

"Is that supposed to scare me? That look you have on your face?" She said, causing everyone's faces to snap toward where she was.

"Things like that don't scare me." She said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Ha, I wasn't aware I was making a face, I just don't understand why you're here." He said in a cold tone.

"Because I can, I didn't come to see you or to speak to you," Rosemary said.

He narrowed his eyes.

"That mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble." He said.

I took a step in front of Rosemary.

"Well, that sounded like a threat to me. Sounds like something you shouldn't be doing, under the situation you're currently in. You should watch who you're speaking to." I said. Anger filled my tone.

"No one threatened anyone, and I don't know what situation you're talking about but my wife died and I am unable to take my son home." He said.

"Your wife had injuries all over her body; she had bruises as well. Who do you think left them? That's the situation you're in and what you said was a threat. I'm not scared of making threats back, but if you think that you can threaten Dr. Lavender in any way. I'll threaten you back, but my threats are followed with actions." I said coolly.

He held my gaze, a word not leaving his mouth.

"I guess I should call my lawyer since I don't feel like defending myself and I guess I should have another doctor perform an autopsy of my wife." He said.

Rosemary moves from behind me.

"Another doctor to perform an autopsy? Why, I performed my autopsy well. There's no need." She said, with a harsh voice.

He narrowed his eyes.

"You said you found many bruises, I'm curious to where my wife got them. As I've never hurt my wife." He said eyes moved to the son in the bed, who raised his head to look at his father.

"You're a fucking liar." The small kid said.

His father head snapped toward his direction.

"You're nothing but a fucking monster, you did this. My mother is dead because of you." He said, anger written all over his face.

"I'm not scared of you. I'm not scared of anything you think you could do to me. Nothing you can do now will scare me." He said as tears fell from his eyes.

His Aunt rushed to his side and held him.

His father looked at him; nothing was shown on his face.

He had no facial expression; it was like he was hiding it.

"A son disobeying his father." He said as he faced his son

"Yeah, a son disobeying his father." The boy said, making direct eye contact with his dad.

"Interesting." The prick said.

A knock came on the door, and the door opened.

"Woah, this is a full house." Said the two people who were standing next to each other.

"Hi, we're here as DCF and CPS agents." The two women said who entered the room.

"Another set of women, great." He said in a low voice.

"Do you have a problem with women? Or do you have a problem with women who have certain positions?" I asked him.

"Because it seems like you hate women who have any form of career," I said.

His eyebrow twitched.

A snarling facial expression appeared on his face.

"I'm going to call my lawyer." He said he turned his attention to his son.

He had a nasty look on his face before he left the room.

"Are you okay?" I asked Rosemary, her eyes looking at the door the prick walked out of.

"He's going to have another person perform an autopsy on her. This means he has someone with a similar position as me under his finger." Rosemary said with a disgusted tone.

"Someone who has covered up and lied about cases," I said, equally as disgusted as she was.

"What do we do?" I asked her.

"We don't let it happen, but I do want to take someone like that down." She said.

"I do too, Someone like that doesn't deserve such a career and they sure don't deserve to have their license," I said.

She turned to make direct eye contact with me.

"I agree with you on that." She said.

"Let's talk more about this later." She said, facing the boy.

Her face softened, and she turned her attention to the agents.

"I'm sure you guys have come to a conclusion on something." She said.

I turned to face the CPS and DCF women who came in.

"Um, if you two don't mind me filling you in on something going on," I said.

They nodded their heads.

I spoke to them about some things happening and talked about the autopsy with them.

"Well, he obviously won't be able to be released to his dad." The DCF agent said.

"Yes, of course. Yet, the dad seems to think that he would be able to have his son released to him which worries me." The CPS agent said.

"He's using his position," I said to them both.

"Would he be able to use his position when it comes to our line of work if he does? That's very concerning." The DCF agent said.

"It would be, but the boy also has bruises. You two should look at them." I said to the agents.

"Yeah, let's do that and get started on our report." The CPS agent said. As they both walked towards the boy. I approached the Aunt, who was quiet this whole time.

"Hello," I said softly.

"Hello." She said, facing me.

"You performed an autopsy on my sister right?" She asked softly as she moved away from her nephew.

"I'll be here if you need me okay David?" She said.

Her nephew nodded as he turned to speak to the DCF and CPS agents.

"Yes, I did," I said to the Aunt.

"Did she die quickly?" She asked, making eye contact with me.

The look in her eyes looked powerless.

"I'm sorry," I said. It was all I could say. I couldn't lie to her.

Tears fell, but she quickly wiped them away.

"How many bruises were there? Was there a lot over her body?" She asked softly.

The truth was her whole body was filled with bruises. This is my first time ever in a situation like this. I was never the one who spoke about these things directly with loved ones. It was always Rosemary.

"There were many bruises," I said softly to her.

"My nephew is twelve." She said, staring at me.

"They've been together for thirteen years. Thirteen years my sister has suffered from this." She said, crying.

"And now she's gone." She said, crying.

"I tried so badly to get her out. I didn't even know until two years ago. I've tried so badly." She said as she continued to cry.

I stared at the woman before me, crying and feeling powerless.

I stared at the kid in the bed who was talking to the CPS and DCF women, how he was holding onto his arms with a pained expression and feeling powerless.

I turned to look at where Rosemary was. She was staring a the Aunt, and her stare moved to look at me.

A look on her face that I knew.

This is how Rosemary would feel with every case she took on.

Powerless.

(*Kassandra Speaks*)

Sometimes people in certain positions feel powerless and can't do certain things.

Sometimes they're, but that doesn't change the fact that they try to do what they can to make up for it. It seems like Jamison is starting to understand Rosemary more and more each day.
