CH: 68 "Go arrest him"
(Jamison POV)
When I heard that the freak had most likely found his next victim, all I felt was anger. Anger has filled my body.
That he has already worked on stalking his next victim as if they were his prey.
"Natalie won't let him destroy or get any rid of the evidence; girls gather as much as you can when it comes to the type of person he is and where he's been. Red, Kendell, you two do the same and find out other things to help us with the case. You could gather any evidence or memories from the past crimes he committed and the victims he's killed." Rosemary said in a calm voice. She let out a sigh.
She turned her attention to look at my father and asked her next question in a distraught low voice.
"Did you find any dead bodies that have any lingering of him? Or any sites that he has left the bodies?" Rosemary asked my dad.
My dad stayed silent for a few seconds, letting out a deep sigh he spoke.
"Yes, I found five places that have remains of little boys, and some of them have become lost spirits, where the others have become mad spirits. They are still near where they were left to rot." My dad said in a sad tone.
"Lost spirits and mad spirits?" I asked in a confused voice.
"A lost spirit is a spirit that can't remember everything that had happened to them; all they know is that they're lured to where their bodies are, and sometimes the spirits don't even know their bodies are there or remember how they died in the first place. A mad spirit is a spirit that might know that they're dead, or doesn't know that they're dead but knows something has happened to them, they want revenge and is angry of what's happened to them." Rosemary said, answering my question.
As I turned my attention to look at my dad, a hurt feeling came across me.
"I don't even know if this is a thing, but when it comes to moving on. Has any victim that he has done horrible things to have move on, as in no longer amongst us here?" I asked my dad.
His stare wavered from me to Jacob and Jonathan.
"The only spirits that have been able to leave are Jacob and Jonathan. The others are still where their bodies were dumped. So, no little boy victim spirit has been able to move on." My sad said, bringing his attention back to me.
"Did you approach them?" Rosemary asked my dad.
He nodded his head.
"Yes, but I was unaware of what to tell them." He said.
Rosemary nodded his head.
"I understand; this is something that's going to be a lot for you to do," Rosemary said in a soft tone.
"But, I need you to go back to those places, ask them everything that's happened to them, including their names, where it happened, where they lived, gather all those information and report it back to me," Rosemary said to my dad.
My dad didn't even look phased or surprised by her question.
"I know it's going to be hard for you when it comes to listening to all their stories and gathering their information, but we need to get them justice, and the freak who did this to them, needs to pay," Rosemary said.
"Will you be okay with this, dad?" I asked my dad.
He smiled at me softly.
"It's okay; I'll be fine with it. It's just going to cause a rollercoaster of emotions coming from them and me. We are doing what needs to be done for these boys, and it would be good to see the monster who did this to be paid for what he's done because he now thinks he's untouchable." My dad said.
The anger on my father's face, I am sure, was identical to mine as his face softened once his stare landed back on Jacob and Jonathan.
"Okay, I'll get going now. Let me know if there's anything else you'll need me to do." My dad said, but before he left, Mona spoke.
"If you need help, reach out to me, okay?" She said.
I didn't miss the sparkling look that flashed from my father's eyes as he smiled and nodded his head before he disappeared.
"We'll get going too," Hailey said, disappearing with Marsha and Macy.
We spoke to Red and Kendell more before they left to continue from their part of the case.
While they were leaving, the agents were back, with four people with them.
It didn't take a genius to realize from the gasp that came from Jacob and Jonathan that these four people were their parents.
"Dr. Lavender, Mr. Lighting. We have the parents here to confirm if the remains of the bodies found are their sons." Agent Brown said.
"Mommy," Jacob said. My eyes widened when I realized that Jacob was now standing in front of his parents.
"Mommy, Daddy. I am so sorry. Please don't cry. I'm so sorry." Jacob's soft voice said to his parents, who could not hear him or even see him.
Jonathan stayed back and analyzed his parents.
A sad, tearful look appeared on his face.
"My mom and dad look, skinner." He said in a sad tone.
"Boys. Please stay with me, let Rosemary and Jamison go with your parents for a while, okay." Mona said softly as she appeared next to Jacob, reaching out to take his hand.
Jacob moved his hand away and wrapped it around his mom.
I watched Jacob's mother's eyes widen.
"Mommy, don't cry. A hug will make you feel better. Remember, hugs make people feel better." Jacob said, hugging his mother and grabbing his father's hand.
His mother lowered her head, and tears fell from her eyes as she hugged herself, not realizing she was wrapping her arms around her deceased son's spirit.
His father stilled, a drained look on his face, as he closed his hand that Jacob was holding.
"Jacob," Mona said softly.
Jacob let go of his mom and pulled away from his dad.
I watched as the woman's face turned to a look of distraught as she dropped her arms.
His father's face looked pained as he opened his hand and let it drop to his side.
"She felt your hug Jacob, and your dad felt your hand. I know you miss your mom and dad but let's let them talk to Rosemary and-" Mona started to say but stopped when she realized Jonathan was now in front of his parents, crying.
"Mom, Dad. Why do you two look skinner, Mommy, Daddy? I am so sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I am so sorry, please don't cry. Don't cry." Jonathan said, grabbing their hands.
A gasp escaped both parents' mouths; Mona quickly grabbed Jonathan away. I caught the look in Mona's eyes. She had unshed tears.
"I'm going to calm them down." She said, turning her attention to Rosemary and me. She disappeared with the boys right after that.
"Please follow me," Rosemary said.
She led the way, and they followed her.
I was walking behind the parents, noticing that Jacob's mother was rubbing her stomach where Jacob's head was and that Jonathan's parents were taking glances at their hands that Jonathan held.
It is now noticeable that the boys have gotten stronger in the short period of being in this state.
"Did you feel that?" Jonathan's dad asked his wife, looking at his hand.
"Yes." She said softly as she stared at her hand as well.
"Our son is in there." She said with a hurt voice.
I lowered my head, letting them have the private moment to themselves.
She let the parents in when we got into the morgue section of Rosemary's building.
"Please, let me know if you're unable to continue to hear what I have to say as I show you the bodies of the boys." She said, walking toward Jacobs's body, covered with a sheet.
She pulled back the sheet, showing Jacob's deceased body.
A loud yell scream came from Jacob's mother as she fell to the floor. His father burst out crying, and so did Jonathan's parents.
"My baby, my baby. My poor baby, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." Jacob's mother said, rocking herself back and forth on the floor.
"I failed. I failed to protect you. I am so sorry. I am so sorry." She said; the sight of the woman had my heart dropped.
Rosemary moved to remove the sheet from Jonathan's body, and Jonathan's mother let out the loudest scream I have ever heard.
A loud gasp of cry came from the father.
"What, what happened to them?" Jonathan's father said in a broken voice.
Rosemary raised her head to look at me.
An emotionless look crossed her face as she moved her stare from me to the agents.
She then forces her to stare at the parents.
"What I am about to tell you is something that will be with you for the rest of your lives. Do you still wish to hear what happened to your sons?" Rosemary asked them.
Silence fell in the room.
"Please." Jacob's mother spoke first.
"Please tell us." She said.
Rosemary looked to the other parents, and they nodded.
"Okay. I will start with Jacob." Rosemary said, walking towards Jacob's body.
The entire time Rosemary explained what happened to Jacob and Jonathan to their parents was something that would stay with me for the rest of my life.
The screams, the yells, the tears, the look of horror, the holding the bodies of their deceased sons will be something I can never wipe away from my memories.
The entire time Rosemary explained what happened, no emotion crossed her face.
Not even once.
Unlike her, the rest of us couldn't compare. Not even the agents could handle it as they turned their stares away to look at the ceiling as they held back tears.
I, on the other hand, had lowered my head, letting everything around me settle in.
How does Rosemary do this every day?
How does she go home, knowing what she knows?
How did she deal with this for years?
How can she be this strong?
I know for a fact, even with years of being in this field.
Even with growth in this field, alongside Rosemary.
There's no way I will ever be her equal when it comes to this part.
The thing that needs to be done now, is for this fucking sick bastard to get arrested and charged on all counts of what he did.
(*Kassandra Speaks*)
This was a heavy chapter; no parent should have to go through this, but unfortunately, some do, and others go through similar things with their loved ones.
I wish we could live in a world where there are no people like the person who hurt Jacob and Jonathan, with the other boys he's hurt, but sadly to say. There are monsters like that out there.
Jamison is right about what he said, he could spend years alongside Rosemary in that field, but he won't be able to be her equal in that way. What he means by that is he's going to have some emotions slip, some feelings show on his face, where he would probably let some cases get to him. Rosemary would be able to handle it more.
