Snapeâs face showed no emotion, and he walked quickly to the table.
âAccording to records, the magic power of the Maledictus will penetrate deep into every drop of blood. I have seen the antidote to similar curses. The way they unlock it is to stimulate the magical properties of medicinal materials to expel the magic power of the curse. But the way that the blood curse magic works is completely different. If you use this method to prepare the antidote, it can only be suppressed for a while, and it will cause great harm to the person.â
Dumbledore glanced at the pile of medicinal herbs and said casually, âSeverus. Sometimes, getting hurt is a last resort because there is no better way.â
âIf you havenât tried it, how do you know thereâs no better way?â Snape retorted.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWe need to try it, and we need your help. If there is no way,â Dumbledore sighed, âWe can only solve it this way.â
Snape paused momentarily and said bluntly, âThere will be a better way to solve it.â
âThat is also my greatest hope.â Dumbledore smiled.
Snape seemed to hope that the antidote would be successful. Sean narrowed his eyes slightly as if he understood something.
Snape took out several bottles of potions, walked to the glass tube containing Naginiâs blood, and gestured to Dumbledore. Dumbledore took out his wand again, and after Snape slowly poured the potion into the glass tube, he clicked his eyes, and Sean saw Dumbledoreâs eyes shine through.
However, the results were obviously unsatisfactory. After a few bottles of potion were dropped, either nothing happened to the test tubes, or they boiled violently, and one tube even exploded.
Dumbledore and Snapeâs expressions didnât change in any way. It seemed that they had expected it. After cleaning up the mess, they continued to experiment. Time passed little by little. Sean glanced at his watch. Several hours had passed now, and the progress was not satisfactory.
Dumbledore and Snape kept discussing during the experiment, and Snape would lean over the paper from time to time to record something. Sean couldnât understand what was happening.
Sean was a little bored and turned his attention to Nagini. She was locked in a cage and obviously felt uncomfortable and bumped into the cage from time to time. However, the cage should have been enchanted, and Naginiâs movements made no sound.
Sean squatted down and looked at Nagini. She opened her mouth and wanted to bite but was blocked by the cage.
If Nagini changed back to a human form, would she still be the same as when she was young?
As Sean pondered, Dumbledoreâs voice rang out, and he said, âSeverus, you are truly a genius. I have never seen a better person than you in the potions field.â
Sean turned his head. Dumbledore was holding up a tube of blood and looking at it carefully.
Snape was writing on the paper, and he didnât even look up at Dumbledoreâs compliment, âThis is just the beginning.â
âBut at least itâs a good start. It gave us hope.â Dumbledore looked very happy.
After Snape finished writing the last few strokes, he put down the quill and said solemnly, âIt seems that the effect is there, but we still have to face a serious problem, the dose.â
He looked at Nagini, âThere is no problem with a small tube of blood, but if you want to remove the curse completely, you need to use a huge dose of potion, and the accumulation of other residual medicinal properties will become poisonous for her.â
âAt that time, she may change back to a human form. But the poison will take her life.â
Dumbledore raised his chin and said solemnly, âCan this formula be improved?â
âAlmost impossible,â Snape shook his head, âI studied it for three yearsâ¦â
He abruptly stopped his next words, and his face became more and more gloomy.
âIt canât be improved!â He said angrily as if he was angry with himself.
Dumbledore sighed, âLooks like we need more research.â
He turned to look at Sean, âSean, Iâm sorry for making you wait so long. I thought I could let you go today, but I was still a little too optimistic.â
Sean shook his head and then asked, âProfessor, the purpose of potions is to expel the magic power of the curse in the blood, right?â
Before Dumbledore could speak, Snapeâs sarcastic voice sounded, âItâs a hundred times more complicated than you think. You wouldnât understand it. You can keep your superficial understanding for later.â
Dumbledore glanced at Snape and said gently to Sean, âItâs more or less like that, but the magic of the curse is too big. We need a big dose for it, but it will cause her body huge damage.â
Sean heard Snapeâs breathing quicken.
He touched his nose and said, âProfessor, I have an idea.â
Dumbledore looked interested, âSpill with it, Sean. Iâm looking forward to it.â
âThe blood curse is entangled in every drop of the personâs blood. Maybe we should go for a different approach?â Sean pointed to Nagini, âWhat if we change her blood?â
Dumbledore raised his eyebrows slightly while Snape let out a snort.
Sean ignored him and continued, âIn the Muggle world, there is a whole process of replacing someoneâs blood in an operation. Of course, it is a slow process, and the curse may contaminate the new healthy blood. But this is a chance to save her.â
He spread out his hands, âWe are wizards, after all.â
Dumbledore thought about it and replied, âThere are many ways to keep someone alive, but it is completely unrealistic for us to drain her blood completely. Maybe we can leave the blood that keeps her alive at a minimum and then use the potion.â
Sean went on to say, âThe potion removes the blood curse, and it will change into healthy blood. Thatâs what I think about how we can save her. But I donât know if itâs feasible.â
Dumbledoreâs eyes gradually brightened, âThatâs a wonderful idea, Sean. You surprised me. How did you think of it?â
Sean smiled back. He was inspired by Tom Riddleâs knowledge, which includes dark magic called the Blood-Drawing Curse.
Dumbledore looked at Snape, âSeverus, Seanâs method has a chance. Iâm almost certain. I need your help, and we have to prepare for everything.â
Snapeâs face trembled a little. He looked at Sean and wanted to say something, but he turned around in the end. He started to get angry with himself again.
