When she finished her words, there was no reaction from Bryan. Whatâs more, his hands were blocking the driverâs car door.
Shirley raised her head to look at him, and reached out to hold the car door, âI have to head back soon.â
When she was preparing to close her door, Bryan said lowly, âPaisley, I will keep to my words, you can move over in peace.â
Finishing his words, Bryan helped close her door, and retreated a few steps.
Shirley sat on the car, and couldnât help but turn to look at the man standing on the side. She was used to seeing him as a bossy guy, and so she felt uncomfortable seeing him this way.
He was not like this when they first met.
Shirley didnât dare to overthink, she was afraid she would have the urge to avoid him. Starting the car, she headed back to Spennor Residence.
Bryan was rooted on the spot. Looking in the direction of the car, he froze for a moment before his phone rang.
He picked up his phone, on the other side was Jordanâs voice, âMr. Moore, Iâve made an appointment with Mr. Thomas for you. Mr. Thomas will head to your office at around 9.â
âAlright.â Bryan replied.
His personal car was driven out from another garage. Bryan opened the door and got into the car.
At 9 a.m., Bryan walked out from the lift in his company. George who was sitting at the reception, immediately stood up.
Jordan pushed open the door of the reception, and Bryan walked in.
With a smiling face, George said, âMr. Moore.â
Bryan nodded his head, his tone neither hot nor cold, âSit down and talk.â
Seeing Bryan sit down, only then George dared to sit.
He was breathing carefully.
Bryan basically never looked for him. If there were any issues on normal days, Bryan would usually get his assistant to give him a call. In recent days, the relationship between Bryan and the Thomas family had been cold, and hence George hadnât dared to provoke Bryan even further.
Now Bryan was sitting opposite him. He was actually only a young man in his twenties, but his whole body exuded a sense of dominance.
After George sat down, he took the initiative to ask, âMr. Moore, what is it that you want to discuss with me. Actually you can just get someone to notify me, donât have to waste your time.â
Bryan leaned back, raised his gaze to rest on George, then took out the DNA report that Jordan gave him yesterday from his briefcase, and flung it heavily in front of him.
âLook at this.â
Georgeâs body trembled slightly. When he saw what Bryan threw, his first reaction was whether Bryan was going to terminate another specialized desk contract with him.
He slowly raised his hand and picked up the report on the table.
When he saw that âDNA reportâ was written on it, Georgeâs face froze.
He jerked his head up to look at Bryan, and asked, âThis... who is this person called Paisley?â
Because this Paisleyâs DNA compatibility with him was 99%, therefore it meant that they were next-of-kin. She also had the same surname of Thomas. This led George to think about Shirley who had committed suicide in the sea many years ago.
âWhere is she now?â George stood up in excitement, he didnât care about being afraid of Bryan anymore, he could only think about his daughter Shirley right now.
âFirst answer my questions.â Seeing Georgeâs reaction, the doubts in Bryanâs heart slowly cleared up.
George slowly sat back in his chair, the hands that were holding the DNA report were trembling. He nodded his head profusely, âAsk away, ask away!â
âDoes Sabina have another twin sister that never died on birth, but grew up just like she did.â Even though he could already guess something from Georgeâs reaction just now, Bryan still wanted to hear the truth from Georgeâs mouth.
Without denying, George nodded, âYes.â
âSix years ago, what happened to the Thomas family, why didnât you ever announce to the public about this daughter.â When he asked this question, Bryanâs voice sounded sharper.
Thinking about Shirley living so pitifully with the Thomas family, Bryan felt that his heart was about to explode. He wanted to give her everything that was good in this world, he didnât want her to feel as if the world had been unfair to her.
George clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and said, âItâs not that I didnât want to announce, itâs...â
The thought of his wife Olivia suddenly occurred to him. If he told Bryan this, what would he do to Olivia?
As a man he shouldnât be dumping all responsibilities to his wife.
âIâm sorry, I canât tell you about this at the moment, itâs too complicated. It wasnât that I didnât want to announce, itâs that I couldnât talk about it.â
Bryan took out another file from his briefcase, and threw it in front of him, âTell me the answers that I want to know, then I will restore all the previous terminated contracts with you, but...â
âIf you donât tell me, I will within a day, clear up all Thomas familyâs products from L City. Within three days, there would be no place for the Thomas family in the countryâs markets.â
âMr. Moore, you are making things difficult for me!â
âIs it difficult?â Bryanâs eyes were dark and sharp, âSix years ago, when Sabina replaced her, the Thomas family should have anticipated the consequences of this being found out by me. I only hope for you to become a good father.â
Good father!
These two words felt like a mountain crashing down heavily on George.
Of course he understood who Bryan wanted him to be a good father to.
George clenched his fist, silently gritted his teeth, and said, âDo you really want to push me to a corner?â
âIs this really pushing you to a corner, when Shirley was choosing to die, did the Thomas family dare to say that you guys never pushed her to a corner.â
âI didnât!â Georgeâs emotions suddenly sky-rocketed, his eyes brimming with tears, he said, âI really didnât know this would happen to her.â
âEven if you didnât know, thatâs only because you never showed concern towards her.â Bryan suddenly stood up, picked up the ceramic pot on the table, and flung it heavily on the floor.
George was stunned for a second.

He closed his eyes, silently gritted his teeth, and said, âMr. Moore, you are right, in the past eighteen years, she has always been living with her grandma, itâs her grandma who raised her, Iâve never shown any concern towards her. But, Mr. Moore, you can see that she isnât compatible with my wife. If I insist on letting her stay, my family would be in shambles. But if I let her stay with her grandma, then I could still take care of her, and my family would also be intact.â
When he finished his words, George felt as if his body had been emptied. He closed his eyes and got ready for Bryan to berate him.
But he waited for a while, and still didnât receive any response from him.
He opened his eyes, and saw Bryan seated back on the sofa, and in his hands was a cigarette.
Georgeâs eyes brightened, with a hoarse voice he asked, âMr. Moore, Sabina was only in her teens then, she didnât know much. If you have to blame someone, please just blame me, please let her go.â
âHa...â Bryan gave a laugh, he really felt unfair for Shirley.
He stood up, and threw away the cigarette that he had only lit up moments ago, and said, âDonât let me find out that the illness Shirley is suffering from is related to Sabina, if not, I would never forgive her.â
