Home.
This was the second time Lu Mian had heard this word from Xiao Qimoâs mouth.
It was also the second time she had become lost in thought because of it.
Her expression was dazed as she looked at the man across from her, as if she had returned to her kindergarten days.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Back then, her parents didnât dislike her yet, their relationship was still passable, and the family of four was harmonious.
Her father was very principled at the time, clearly stating that he would not take over the Lu Familyâs business. He bought a small house of over eighty square meters inside the third ring of Wucheng, and the family led a simple life there.
The kindergarten was inside their residential community, and every Monday to Friday, her father would stand under an old locust tree at the school gate, waving at her and Lu Xinnuan, âMianmian, Nuannuan, come home for dinner!â
Just like Xiao Qimo at this moment, bathed in the setting sun, overflowing with brilliance.
Lu Mian unconsciously hugged herself and walked over.
But suddenly, a figure drifted into view.
She stopped in her tracks and looked at the newcomer.
âLu Mian, Iâve been waiting for you for a long time! This bouquet of roses is for you!â
The youthful boy thrust the large bunch of roses into Lu Mianâs arms, his eyes filled with anticipation and shyness. He wanted to say more, but he scratched his head and couldnât utter a word, then turned and ran away.
Another oneâ¦
Xiao Qimo silently took note in his heart.
He eyed the girl opposite him, walking towards him with the bouquet in her arms, and felt this wasnât the scene he had imagined.
He wanted to say something, but seeing the extremely pale shade of her palm-sized face, the words that came out were instead filled with concern.
âWhatâs wrong with you? Your face looks a bit pale.â
Lu Mian lowered her gaze for a moment, her complexion stark against the bright roses.
âIâve been on the back hill, got blown by the wind,â she said halfheartedly. When she looked up again, her eyes had regained their calm. âWhy are you here?â
âTo pick you up after school.â
âPick me up? Director Qimo really cares a lot about the students!â she replied, her demeanor still playful and nonchalant, as if amused with the world.
In fact, Xiao Qimo was more concerned about her health, but he didnât want to be presumptuous.
âItâs on the way.â Xiao Qimo kept it brief.
Since they were neighbors, the route couldnât have been more convenient.
This made him often feel that Ye Jinwen wasnât entirely useless; his choice of location had been spot on.
Lu Mian carried an air of rebellion and flamboyance, shrugging noncommittally as she walked alongside him into the residential area.
Passersby who occasionally walked past couldnât help but turn and gaze in awe, after all, such a pair of good-looking individuals would be the center of attention wherever they went.
However, Xiao Qimoâs focus was on the flowers in her hands.
Isnât it tiring holding them?
Is there any use in taking them home?
Where do high schoolers get the money to buy such big bouquets of roses? They must be using their parentsâ hard-earned cash!
At such a young age, theyâre already trying to win girlsâ hearts with flowersâan obvious sign of a seasoned player in love.
As an educational director, he was not just for show!
âAchoo!â
As he was thinking this, the man abruptly sneezed. He pulled out a white handkerchief, appearing somewhat bewildered as he rubbed his nose.
Lu Mian frowned at him.
âAchoo! Achoo!â
Two more sneezes followed.
Even while sneezing, the manâs innate perfect features allowed him to carry out the action gracefully and unhurriedly.
Xiao Qimo covered his mouth and nose with the scholarly white handkerchief, his eyes behind the gold-framed glasses expressing some apology, âI think Iâm allergic to pollenâ¦â
Lu Mian paused for a moment.
Without hesitation, she tossed the roses into a nearby garbage bin.
âSorry,â she said sincerely.
The gentlemanly man smiled and said, âItâs okay,â as he meticulously returned his handkerchief to his pocket.
Lu Mianâs brows arched lightly, a hint of tease glowing in her eyes.
