Chapter 227 - 226 We Have an Honored Guest

The two brothers didn’t quite grasp the meaning behind her words, but being laid-back, they didn’t probe further.

Sui Yuan just pursed her lips, silently nodding, with an appearance of complete compliance.

Lu Mian, leading the others, came to the company entrance first. There were two people dressed as security guards at the door who sized up the four of them and stopped them outright.

Shouhao explained that Lu Mian had an appointment with Bai Fangfei, hoping they would show the way and let Lu Mian inside.

The brothers had no hope of getting in themselves; after all, they had bought Ya Qing’s new book for Lu Mian to see. It made no difference whether they got it or she did.

The security guard’s gaze fell on Lu Mian, the electric baton still swinging in his hand, looking quite impressive.

“Your name isn’t on the registration form; you can’t enter.”

“But Bai Fangfei said she’d take our Brother Mian inside.”@@novelbin@@

“Words alone aren’t enough. Either wait for Miss Bai to come down or leave quickly. We have VIPs visiting today; don’t interfere with our work.”

The two security guards looked at each other, their attitudes exceptionally firm.

“Even if it’s something urgent, we can’t go in?” Sui Yuan asked softly from the side.

The security guard scoffed: “What urgent matter could you possibly have! You’re just trying to pretend to be Miss Bai’s classmates and sneak in to get Ya Qing’s autograph, aren’t you? I can spot your type with ease!”

The two security guards were also doing their duty diligently; after all, they had been instructed not to let any students in that day, especially those mentioning Miss Bai Fangfei. They were not to let any slip by.

Fine, the four of them got it.

Bai Fangfei hadn’t mentioned this matter to the security guards or the reception at all.

Shouhao took the initiative to call Bai Fangfei, but no one answered; all they could do was wait.

The appointed time was ten o’clock. After waiting for a while at the base of the company building, there was still no sign of Bai Fangfei.

It was getting cold outside. With no one showing up from either left or right, the brothers suggested the two girls wait inside the coffee shop.

Lu Mian, patient as ever, took Sui Yuan and followed them in.

They ordered two cups of coffee and two cups of hot milk, sitting down at a small table by the window.

Shouhao proposed playing a game, and Lu Mian and Shouhao had no objections, while Sui Yuan, claiming she didn’t know how, voluntarily took on the task of waiting for others.

The three immediately started a game.

To avoid making Sui Yuan feel awkward, Shouhao made it a point to chat with her from time to time: “Sister Yuan, Bai Fangfei is our class monitor. She’s just a bit over one meter sixty, rather slim. She usually lets her hair down, which makes her face look small and sharp. When she comes out of that big building, you should be able to recognize her.”

Sui Yuan rested her chin on her hands as she looked out of the floor-to-ceiling windows, smiling: “I know her.”

Shouhao casually threw in a question: “Oh? Sister Yuan, how do you know her?”

Sui Yuan paused for a moment, explaining that she would often see Bai Fangfei visiting their class with Su Luo, looking for Su Jue—she kind of remembered her.

“That makes sense.” Shouhao nodded, then looking up at the gap, saw that Sui Yuan’s phone screen lit up, buzzing, “Sister Yuan, you have a call.”

Sui Yuan responded with a light “Oh”, “No problem, no need to answer it.”

Time flies when playing games; before they knew it, forty minutes had passed.

The group glanced at the time and grew increasingly dissatisfied.

Shouhao couldn’t help but complain: “Not answering calls, not showing up, we’ve been waiting for her for forty minutes!”

“Lucky we found a coffee shop to wait in; we’d be frozen with a cold by now if we were outside.”

Lu Mian just looked out the window with a smile on her lips, as if amused.

Sure enough, after a while, they finally saw her. The brothers spied Bai Fangfei emerging from the Bai Family building.

The brothers wore an expression as if to say they knew it all along.

“Turns out she was here all along, deliberately making Brother Mian wait!”

“What’s this about, trying to show us who’s boss?”
