After school, Bai Fangfei returned to the Bai Family home.
While walking through the yard, she heard a man in his early thirties making a phone call.
âSir, I will make amends for my mistake⦠Rest assured, this time I will definitely secure the audio rightsâ¦â@@novelbin@@
âYes, Iâve already scheduled a meeting for the weekend.â
âYes, yes, everything is arranged, just waiting for the weekend.â
Bai Fangfei walked over slowly. Wasnât that her uncle?
Driven by curiosity, she approached, and Bai Shuli had just finished his call.
The thirty-year-old man was at the prime of his life, his heroic eyebrows and bright eyes hinting at a successful businessmanâs astuteness.
âUncle,â Bai Fangfei called sweetly.
But she wonderedâ
Who was Uncle speaking with just now? His tone was so polite⦠That certainly wasnât the Bai Family style at all.
Bai Shuli also saw Bai Fangfei and smiled, âYouâre back.â
Without intending to continue with small talk, he headed inside the villa.
Bai Fangfei called out, âUncle! This weekend, when you meet with Ya Qing, can I bring someone with me to have a look? Iâd like Ya Qing to sign something for meâ¦â
That cherished internal book she had was given to her by her uncle.
âYou? Bring whom?â Bai Shuli paused as if hesitating.
âAn annoying classmate,â Bai Fangfei said without any reservation, âLu Mian from the Lu Family, the one who was kidnapped.â
This matter wasnât a secret among the major families.
They werenât clear on the inside story of AorBâs choice, but they all knew a bit about Lu Mian being kidnapped and returning home after two years.
Bai Shuli fiddled with his cell phone, asking nonchalantly, âWhat, you canât stand her?â
âAnyway, sheâs not a good person.â
âYouâ¦â Bai Shuliâs eyes darkened.
Among the prominent families of Wucheng, the Lu Family was at the bottom, followed by their Bai Family. The Bai Family and the Lu Family had little to do with each other and were secretly competing; after all, no one wanted to be the lowest-ranking family.
He had no interest in the squabbles between little girls, but lending a hand to his niece casually wasnât much of a problem.
Out of curiosity, he asked, âSince you dislike her, why bring her to meet Ya Qing? Ya Qing is always a mystery; even I have not met him. Youâre giving Lu Mian such a good opportunity?â
âPsh! As if!â Bai Fangfei scoffed, her eyes rolling as she leaned in close to Bai Shuli, âUncle, hereâs what Iâm thinkingâ¦â
ââ
Saturday morning.
After returning from her workout, Lu Mian checked the time and casually slipped on a knee-length trench coat, getting ready to leave.
She had an arrangement with the plump Hao and Shouhao to pick up a book today.
She texted Sui Yuan, planning to bring Yuanyuan along today.
[Little Baldy, are you ready?]
[Mhm (ï¼¾âï¼¾)!]
[Iâll come to pick you up.]
Lu Mian repressed a smile as she put away her phone, opening her front door just as the elevator arrived. The chill that greeted her made her pause, and when she looked up, she saw Xiao Qimo.
They both stopped in the corridor.
This was the first time they were alone together since the incident in the equipment room. Their first reaction was to avert their gazes and then look back at each other. The atmosphere seemed slightly delicate.
Xiao Qimoâs inscrutable gaze swept over her, noting todayâs figure-hugging outfit.
A black thin sweater, black jeans, the soft and fluid fabric accentuating her already perfect lines. Over it, she wore a loose army green trench coat, casually thrown on with the sleeves rolled up a few times, exuding a lazy charm and a rebellious wildness.
His eyes finally settled on her unbuttoned trench coat.
He inquired with a darkened expression, âGoing out?â
