The manâs thoughts turned over and again as his long legs carried him through the security door and leisurely into the living room.
Lu Mian was already comfortably seated on the couch, in the very spot he had previously occupied.
The corner of the manâs lips lifted slightly.
Before he could ponder further, he noticed the girl opposite him holding her chin in confusion, her beautiful brows and eyes slightly furrowed.
âDirector Qimo, did you poison the hamburger?â
Ye Jinwen, who had just felt relieved to have dodged a bullet, suddenly stumbled massively.
What the fuck!
Sister, you can eat a hamburger carelessly, but you canât talk nonsense!
If Qimo were to poison someone, it would be with the poison of love.
Xiao Qimo reined in his smile, seemingly pondering how to explain.
Yet, Lu Mian switched to a nonchalant demeanor, blinked her eyes filled with sparkling light, and declared with content, âIt tasted quite good.â
It tasted so good that she nearly forgot what Yurenâs hamburgers tasted like.
It was indeed toxic, preoccupying her all night long.
Ye Jinwen: ââ¦â
So, was the boss complimenting someone?
Truly fucking uniqueâ¦
Xiao Qimo: I donât know what to say anymore, so I just glared twice at Ye Jinwen.
Ye Jinwen felt his hairs stand on end and, before the atmosphere could become more awkward, his brain started working overtime to look for a new topic of conversation.
His gaze fell on the suit jacket in Xiao Qimoâs hands and, with his mouth moving faster than his brain, he blurted out, âA manâs coat, huh? Little Mianmian, is it your boyfriendâs? Or is someone pursuing you?â
Then.
The living room atmosphere got even more bizarre.
Xiao Qimo stood there in silence, his gaze complicated, looking very preoccupied.
Ye Jinwen: Our Brother Qimo is busy brewing vinegar again.
Ah, Iâm doomed, why did I ask that question!
Lu Mian, oblivious to all this, was pulling out tissues to wipe her hands, and after wiping them, she took Yurenâs clothes and neatly placed them beside her. She responded to Ye Jinwenâs question with a question of her own, âMay I consult you on something?â
âOf course!â Ye Jinwen forced a dry smile, relieved that she had changed the subject.
Lu Mian stroked her chin while carefully crafting her words, and then she spoke earnestly.
âDo you know how a girl should maintain a purely platonic relationship with a man?â
Ye Jinwen: !!!
Thatâs so Lu Mian.
Her next sentence always landed where he least expected.
In the art of making biting remarks, Lu Mianâs grasp was unyielding.
Ye Jinwen wished he could slap himself twice; why was he so loose-lipped, so talkative, always bringing up the very thing he shouldnât!
This question was clearly targeted at Brother Qimo!
He was already mortified and snuck a glance at the imposing Xiao Qimo, nothing but regret in his eyes.
Brother Qimo, Iâm sorryâ¦
Xiao Qimo told himself not to tense up; what Lu Mian said might not necessarily be about him, after all, he always had a justifiable reason, and with her blunt emotional quotient, she probably couldnât sense it yet.
He pretended to be elegant as he sat down opposite her and probed, âIs someone giving you trouble?â
âTrouble? Not really, I justâ¦â Lu Mian calmly took a bite of her hamburger, âam not interested in love.â
ââ¦â
Xiao Qimo, who had barely managed to stay composed, felt genuinely stung this time.
She indeed wasnât targeting him; she was just⦠dismissing all suitors with a single blow.
But wait! This little rascal had said something different before; she had expressed disinterest in long-distance relationships!
Heh, women!
Ye Jinwen: Brother Qimo, lighting candles for you and for all of Lu Mianâs suitors.
Xiao Qimo forced a smile: âYouâre still a student, what youâre doing is right.â
Lu Mian nodded innocently, paused, and then looked up with a very serious and clear expression that seemed to see right through everything.
âSo, Director Qimo, there is no need for you to always probe my social life, I wonât fall in love too early, nor will I cause any trouble for your work.â
