Emma stood defiantly, facing Alexâs accusations headâon. She had long given up on explaining her relationship with Morgan to him. Their marriage, marred by mistrust and disappointment, had left her weary and uninterested in his demands for answVEN, Alex, feeling the sting of Emmaâs indifference, confronted her with a mix of anger and confusion,â So, you think you owe me no explanation? What role did he play in our marriage? Was he the reason for our divorce? What do you gain from being with him over me?â
Emma replied with a bitter laugh, her voice dripping with sarcasm. âAnd what did being with you bring me? Your obsession with Bella, the constant marital strife, your lack of seriousness. Why should I dignify yourth answers? Besides, Morgan is a âshe,â not aâ
Alex, taken aback by her harsh words, fiued. âYouâre turning this on me? How can you be so blind to your own faults?â
Emmaâs frustration boiled over. âMy faults? Look at yourself, Alex! You never dealt with your Issues with Bella. Youâre quick to judge but never selfâreflect. Why do you think we ended up divorced? You lack any selfâawareness!â
Pushing him away, Emma walked over to Morgan, deliberately wrapping an arm around her waist as they made their exit.
Morgan and Jada glanced back at Alex, smirking at his evident agitation. âYou really know how to get under Alexâs skin,â Morgan remarked. âBut why did he come after you? Because of me?â
Emma nodded, explaining the situation. âNathan must have taken that photo and sent it to Alex, making him believe you were the âotherâ in our marriage. Thatâs what set him off.â
Morgan scoffed at the absurdity. âAlex was the unfaithful one, yet he tries to pin the blame on you.â
Jada, joining in, rolled her eyes. âTypical Alex. Always projecting his faults onto others, never owning up to his mistakes.â
Emma agreed, her tone a mix of resignation and bitterness. âThatâs why I didnât bother with him. He canât even handle his own mess with Bella and yet he thinks he has any right to question me. Weâre divorced; I owe him nothing.â
As they got into their cars, the women continued discussing Alexâs actions, unaware of the brewing storm caused by Nathanâs photos.
The next morning, Emmaâs phone was inundated with lls from Wayne, which roused her from sleep. âWhatâs this about online rumors targeting you?â he asked, concerned.
Emma, groggy and confused, struggled to understand. âRumors? What rumors?â She sat up in bed.
Wayne explained the situation, his voice tinged with worry. âThere are posts online about you being 38 Revelations and Retorts intimately involved with another man, claiming thatâs why Alex divorced you. Public opinion is turning against you.
âWhat?â
Realization dawned on Emma as she checked her phone. The posts twisted the narrative, insinuating an inappropriate relationship between her and Morgan during her marriage.
Emma laughed bitterly. âNathanâs handiwork, no doubt. Heâs trying to paint me in a bad light, but itâs baseless.â
Wayne, still on the line, asked, âDo you need help handling this?â
âNo,â Emma replied confidently. âItâs not as bad as it seems. Iâve got this.â
Wayne, sensing her determination, offered his support but suggested she check in with Morganâs family.
Emma agreed, knowing the impact this situation had on Morgan as well. With a plan forming in her mind, she prepared to navigate the storm with cunning and resolve.
