âDonât waste your time talking nonsense.â
âYes, the Marquisâ wife has passed away, and the Marquis isnât Edithâs biological father.â
According to her family register, her father was a sick person, and her character, Edith, mustâve taken out her anger on the servants. No wonder everyone hated her.
âCurtis hates Edith, so the difficulty of attacking is ridiculously high.â
Well, Iâm planning on logging out anyway, so Iâm not going to attack him with Edith as my character.
I sneaked out of the bedroom, looking back at the maidâs face, thinking that I should stay calm until the production company noticed the bug.
âYou woke up early today. The Marquis is looking for you.â
The butler found me wandering around the hallway, and bowed his head half-heartedly.
It was clear to me that he wanted to ignore me, and to think I wasnât even familiar with aristocratic etiquette that much. Still, I followed him where he led me to the Marquis.
âLetâs do as we are told and log out of here quickly.â
âMarquis, I brought you the young lady.â
We arrived in front of a huge oak door where the butler halted from his quick pace. The dark red door with delicate patterns was extravagant on a different level from my fatherâs old office. Watching the door open was equally laborious too.
Even in Edithâs condition, the existence of her father was even reluctant as I see it.
âYou may enter.â
âOh, shit, wait!â
âThe Marquis is waiting.â
The butler pushed my back forcibly, to which I wasnât mentally prepared for.
A fierce gaze fell like a bamboo spear on top of my head. At the sound of the door closing, I shrank without even noticing myself.
âToday, Curtis Caballero will be appointed as a knight of the saint.â
âI guess so?â
âAh⦠stupid girl. You canât get a guy right and youâre making things this way?â
I carefully raised my head and glanced at the marquis. He seemed to have no intention in concealing his reproach.
âAh, Edith doesnât resemble the Marquis at all.â
Whether she was an illegitimate child or not, she doesnât look alike enough to be suspected. I scratched my chin as I stared at the marquisâ red hair, which seemed to be dripping with oil.
âBecause you arenât the Lady of Caballero anymore, all the support that the Marquis of Abina received from the Grand Duke is going to be cut off!â
âOh, yes.â
I nodded and shook my head up and down in an effort to calm the marquis down.
âYou must be very disappointed.â
However, the marquis wasnât able to calm down, and he slammed the desk instead.
âIf I try that, my hands will surely hurt,â I thought.
I watched indifferently as the marquisâ hand, like a bunch of tasteless sausage, burned. His voice shot up more and more, perhaps triggered by my expressionless face.
âYes! Thatâs a big setback to my business now!â
My eyes open wide, confused at his words. The Marquis was staring at me with a chubby, grumpy face too.
âHow are you going to take responsibility for this, you useless girl?!â
âNo, I hear that he was mean to Edith.â
Shouldnât he be satisfied that the marquisâ family received support so far as the Grand Dukeâs lady?
In addition, the Marquis Abina I remembered was an annoying old supporting character. He constantly would flirt with the main character too.
âHe was a man who had no ability and only cared about women. Such a person wouldnât succeed in his business even with the support from a Grand Duke.â
âAll the support you received so far was thanks to Edithâ¦â I said, but quickly realized my words, âIt was all thanks to me. Be content with that.â
ââ¦what?â
âWhen one is supported, I expect you to roll hard and make a fortune. Isnât that what youâre saying?!â I yelled at him.
âYou crazy girl!â he interjected, âYou seem to have finally lost your mind. What? Isnât that what youâre doing?!â
I merely shrugged my shoulders as I turned to his fiercely distorted face.
No matter how much Edith was an illegitimate child, an eyesore, but what could a human being whose name ranked below a Grand Duchess do to his own daughter?
âWell, since you became the Lady to the Grand Duke, you have never entered the Punishment Room, so itâs worth forgetting my situation.â
The Marquis moved his carp-like lips and laughed as he grabbed my hair.
ââ¦the room of punishment?â
I didnât know why I got goosebumps on the back of my neck when I heard a word I never encountered while playing the game.
The system window began to fill my view as if it was the representation of my déjà vu.
Danger is approaching. Avoid it.
When approaching the âRoom of Punishmentâ, Edith Abinaâs sanity is damaged.
My eyes squinted at the word âsanityâ in bright red font.
âWhat happens when your mental strength is damaged?â
