Chapter 20 : Iron blooded Rabbit

As soon as we stepped into the lobby, all hell broke loose.

It didn’t wait for us to lunge. It moved first. Throwing a strong powerful punch.BOOM.

The rabbit’s punch landed like a cannon blast. I, already in my beastified form, launched forward. All four of my furred limbs clashed against the monster’s incoming fist—blocking it, but only barely. The impact sent me skidding backward across the cracked marble.

I nearly slammed into the wall—

Her eyes flared violet as a telekinetic ability caught me mid-air. I slowed down just inches from the wall.

She didn’t stop there.

With a snap of her fingers, a force spike launched from her palm—striking the metallic rabbit dead center in the chest. It staggered, its claws digging into the floor as sparks scattered from its joints.

Mother saw her opening.

With a sharp cry, she spun her scythe and brought it down in a wide arc. The blade cleaved into the rabbit’s side—metal screeched, but instead of blood, black oil sprayed out from the gash.Not like last time. No red. No pulse. Seo-Yeon’s eyes widened. “That’s higher than expected!”

Shadow threads swarmed the rabbit’s limbs, its movement halting for a moment.

He lunged.

He drove his body into the rabbit, kicking off the ground, dragging it with him as they crashed through the front window—glass exploded outward, both of them tumbling onto the street below.

Dust. Stone. Silence.

Then—

Ye-Jun crouched low, all four limbs tensed. His pupils narrowed to vertical slits.

And then he launched.

WHOOSH.

He soared high, tail whipping in the air before slamming downward like a missile.

CRACK!

The shockwave buckled the concrete.

But the rabbit didn’t fall.

It flinched. That’s all.

Seo-Yeon, gliding down from the broken lobby frame, gritted her teeth. “It barely felt that?!”

Her eyes locked in on the creature’s left side—unarmored, dented from Mi-Sun’s earlier slash.

She flicked her hand—load of debris floating midair behind the rabbit.

They slammed into its back—distracting it.

That’s when Ye-Jun struck again. This time is faster. Meaner.

He let his instincts of a spider monkey take over. His new ability he unlocked at Level 15.

He spun mid-air—arms and tail curling into a blur of strikes. The first fist slammed the rabbit’s jaw sideways, the second into its stomach. A tail sweep knocked it slightly off-balance—

“I’m on it!”

Ye-Jun roared—his eyes blazing—leapt onto the rabbit’s shoulders, grabbing its skull with all four arms.

He squeezed, twisting—

But the rabbit didn’t choke.

It grabbed him.

And hurled him into a nearby building like a sack of rubble.

Ye-Jun crashed through two walls and vanished in smoke.

The sky had dimmed into bruised shades of orange and purple. The sun, low on the horizon, casts long shadows through shattered windows. From up here, the city looked almost peaceful—like it had bled itself dry.

In-Ji sat on the rooftop ledge beside Ye-Rin, her body still glowing faintly, her breaths shallow but even. The tiny dragon curled beside her, unmoving.

His eyes scanned the skyline again.

Nothing.

No monsters.

Just… silence.

Then—

a distant crash.

Followed by a burst of wind.

And a scream.

He stood instantly, stepping closer to the roof's edge.

Down below—chaos.

Ye-Jun's body flew like a ragdoll—slammed into a building across the street. Dust exploded outward. His beastified form rolled once before stopping, groaning.

Then—

Seo-Yeon screamed.

She had barely dodged an attack. The metallic rabbit—that thing—was lunging toward her again. Fast. Deliberate.

In-Ji’s fingers instinctively reached for his gun.

Click.

Two bullets left.

One normal. One explosive.

He gritted his teeth, eyes narrowing. "Damn it."

Without thinking, he raised the barrel. Trained the sights on the rabbit.

It moved—zigzagging—but for a single second—

He had a shot.

BANG!

The bullet whistled through the air and slammed into the rabbit’s shoulder.

A loud clang—like metal hitting concrete. The beast flinched and twisted, halting mid-lunge. Its body jerked slightly to the side.

Then—

It slowly looked up.

Right at him.

The eyes—those soulless red optics—flared brighter.

And in that instant, something changed.

Its head tilted…

Its body is stiff.

A faint hum resonated from its core.

And then it felt it.

The sleeping aura. The purple message box flickered in front of us.

Its claws curled.

Its frame crouched.

And then—

BOOM.

It leapt at the wall like a brute, its claws digging into the concrete with an earsplitting screech.

One hand—slam.

One foot—slam.

Another—slam.

It was climbing.

Fast.

Desperate.

In-Ji backed away.*“No, no— Idiot. Auntie asked me to take care of her daughter and not put her in danger.”

He stepped in front of Ye-Rin, pistol shaking in his grip.

Seo-Yeon screamed, “NO—!”

She extended her hand—my body was still lying dazed across the street.

She hurled me upward like a weapon.

My body twisted in the air, barely recovering as I fired web after web—swinging up the side of the building, chasing the rabbit.My form blurred in motion, gaining momentum.

But from In-Ji’s position—

It wasn’t fast enough.

The rabbit reached the apartment. It saw In-ji pointing his gun towards it.

Then… it saw Ye-Rin.

Still unconscious.

Still breathing.

The rabbit snarled, then crouched—

Bang.

In-ji fired his last bullet. Explosive bullet. The explosion sent it flying back off the edge. The rooftop rumbled as the shot echoed into dusk.

I webbed onto the falling monster, using the momentum—Wrapped his arms in my web midair sitting on the top of it.

Then I launched himself upward with all his strength, then fired his webs downward to accelerate his descent.

SLAMMED both feet into the rabbit’s chest.

BOOM!!

They crashed into the street below—dust, smoke, and rubble flying everywhere.

Silence.

Then—

The rabbit moved.

Slow. Bleeding. Oil dripping. But it stood.

Its red eyes locked onto Ye-Jun again.

Still alive. Barely. Limping but Still ready to fight.
