Ch 3
Tarnac pov
We exit the room, and I start walking with my beta when I can tell heâs curious. I decided just to say it so itâs not a surprise when itâs known later.
âI made a promise with her wolf that once she turns eighteen if she doesnât find her mate then Iâll take her as a choice mate.â
âWhat? Why because you feel sorry for her? Thatâs why youâre doing this?â
I stop dead in my tracks, and just stare at him.
âNo! Iâve seen her wolf! Sheâs not a normal wolf like us. Iâm black, youâre gray, most are brown or gray also. She is pure white with ice blue eyes. There is something special about her, but I donât know what.â
âPure white? Thatâs unheard of. Like to be pure white there has to be something.â
âSo at this point I donât care. My wolf wants her just as much as I do. Itâs like we have this urge to protect her but are unsure why.â
He just nods his head so we continue to walk to the pack house when I head straight back into my office. I jump on the computer sending out emails to surrounding packs notifying them of what I had to do. Iâm sure a few will ask why I didnât just snap his neck. Some packs are no questions asked ruthless packs. Do something wrong like almost killing a pack member, and itâs automatic death. I try not to be so ruthless, and itâs worked so far. Except this incident still blows my mind.
I file the paperwork under lock and key, and get back to working on pack business. While Iâm working on paperwork I hear my computer start sounds a few times when emails start coming back from other packs. They are expressing their sadness in seeing a situation like this happen. Itâs very unfortunate and Iâm torn on what to do. Should I even put Trinity in that position to make the call? She is the victim but Iâm the Alpha. I have to rule this pack with an iron fist or Iâll look weak. Then what if someone comes after me for the position?
I decided to call my friend Alpha Tristin over at the Shadow Pack next to us just to get another personâs input.
âHey Tarnac, how can I help you? Sorry to her about your situation.â
âThatâs actually what Iâm calling about. I need to see what you think about this situation. My head warrior almost mauled a lower pack member. I think the only reason he didnât finish the job was because I was running that way. They had his scent all over them, and he had their scent and blood on him. He has had it out for this pack member for a while and I never understood why. I was going to leave it up to them to make the decision on the punishment for him, but now Iâm second guessing that.â
âYou are the Alpha! Donât put that kind of pressure on a pack member! An Alpha is supposed to be judge, jury and executioner. We lead our packs. We have to set an example and make this a good example. Show your pack that you will not stand for this type of behavior.â
âThatâs what I needed to hear. I knew that I shouldnât put it on her.â
âWait, hold on one fucking minute! Your head warrior attacked a female pack member? Did she fight back at all?â
âNo, she is a worker in the kitchen and our women donât train.â
âYouâre not serious right? You need to train your women. It will make your pack that much stronger. So what is it about this girl then? There has to be something else going on.â
âShe is a small white wolf. I donât know what it means but Iâve never seen it before.â
âYou said a white wolf? Iâve never seen one either. I have an oracle here and we can visit in a couple days. See if they may have any answers.â
âOk Iâll see you in a couple days, and we will see if we can figure this out.â
I hung up the phone and knew what I needed to do. I just need to get into the right mindset. I get up to go out and let Antar run when I get a mind link from the doctor that Trinity is awake. I quickly ran out of the pack house and headed straight for the hospital. When I run into the building I see the doctor standing there smiling. He stops me as soon as I get close by putting his hands in the air.
âShe is very, very sore. We have her on pain meds that are taking the edge off and make her comfortable. Sheâs still very weak, but slowly getting her energy back. Ava her wolf is still resting but is talking more.â
I nod when I enter the room and see her look from her mom to me. I see her just stare and tremble, and Iâm so confused. I donât want her to be scared of me.
âTrinity, I need you to tell me who did this. I already know, but I need to hear it from you.â
She just looks down at her hands when I see tears start to fall. She starts shaking her head no, and I know sheâs scared to say anything.
âTrinity, I will not ask again. As your Alpha Iâm asking you who did this.â
âYou already know though.â
âI need to hear the name.â
She nods her head and takes a deep breath.
âIt was Raston, Alpha.â
I just nod my head when she looks up at me and my heart breaks. Iâm trying to not show any emotion so I can deal with this but the look in her eyes made Antar take over. I walked over sitting on the side of the bed holding out my arms when she slowly climbed up into them. I just held her breathing in her scent praying she would be my mate. There has to be a reason why she is opposite of me right? While Iâm holding her I see her mom looking at us confused.
âMisty, I told Trinity that if in two days when she turns eighteen if she doesnât find her mate I will take her as a choice mate.â
âBut Alpha why? We are just kitchen workers. She has no clue how to be a Luna. Sheâs never trained for that kind of a position.â
âIâve seen her wolf, I know sheâs special. She isnât even in the position and is already influencing changes to be made to the pack. All women will start training to fight.â
I just bury my face and inhale her scent. It feels so right but I have to wait two days to do anything. Then it hits me. What if in two days she finds her mate. I would have to walk away, and not interfere. I set her down and start walking away when I hear her start crying from behind me. I need to get out of here. The pressure is getting to be too much. I want to mark her right there, and want to say fuck it to her finding a mate.
The only problem is if it was found out that I took her for myself before even allowing her the opportunity to find a mate, the pack would be livid. So I quickly get out of there and strip to run. We need to get this stress out, and just clear our head. We run as hard as we can, but know in two days this pack may finally have a Luna. Now the countdown starts.
