Flashback episode

Ebyses,

No one really knows where they came from, why only minors possess them, why only 20% of the worldwide population has one,...

Anyone can have the same ebys, except for a few exceptions.

They come in many different forms, from more common ones (most of the ebys population) like the flying, the telekinesis ebys to more unique ones for example the shadow manipulation, the doppelgänger, the shapeshifting ebys.

Having this mysterious power can be seen as a gift or a curse. In Kang Taehyun's case, it is a curse.

Ever since he came into this world a ball of fire has been growing inside his body. It's power unleashes randomly and when it does, It destroys either him, or whatever is around him. But thankfully his rebystraint and his pills prevent that from happening.

10 years ago

"Mummy look!" An 8 year old kid ran to his mother who was cooking in the kitchen then tugged on her apron with his free hand "Look look!!" He cheerfully pointed at the little fireball that was levitating above his palm. "It took me a lot of energy but look! I transferred some of my internal fire to my hand"

The mother crouched down and ruffled his hair "Aw I'm so proud of you! You're controlling your ebys little by little I see. But be careful not to burn yourself"

The little boy widely smiled "Oh Oh can I try to light up the stove?? I need to prove to dad that I can be useful!"

A certain Jeon stomped in the kitchen "Don't you call me dad you dangerous dipshit!"

Taehyun's little fire ball extinct and he fearfully hid behind his biological mother.

She gave her husband a death glare "I swear you better stop insulting my baby!"

The man retorted "You should have left this little hazard with your ex! He'll end up causing a firestorm, I don't know for you but I want to stay alive!"

Anger came over the mother and she started yelling at him, and also threatening a divorce.

Taehyun ran out of the room sobbing and he then bummed into something, actually someone. Little Jungkook embraced him and try to calm the crying boy.

"Kookie hyung... Why do I have this ebys?"

The non-ebyser patted his head "I don't know.. I don't know but, one day, I know you'll be able to control it perfectly! You'll be able to wear a rebystraint when you're 13 remember?"

'But that's in a long time...A lot of people are already at the hospital because of me and I even killed my friend...'

4 years later from that time

February 20th 2014

"Are you excited to meet them??" Jungkook asked his half brother, they were both sitting on swings.

"Yes. Indeed Jungkook! I am absolutely thrilled to meet some new people who will want nothing to do with me." The brunette said monotonously.

"Jungkook hyung! H-Y-U-N-G! It's not that hard, stop looking down on me!!" He acted more like a child than the 12 year old. He coughed "Anyway.. I know they'll like you! Just be.. a bit more polite, also the little brother is an ebyser just like you!"

"Great." He said obviously thinking the opposite. The boy grew a lot colder over the last few years, as a result of constantly being treated unfairly.

"Jungkookie!!!" A twenty year old guy with brown wavy hair ran towards them and hugged the older one.

"Took you long enough" Jungkook giggled and Taehyung lovingly kissed his lips.

The glare of disgust on Taehyun's face during this was apparent, 'What's wrong with them?'

The oldest turned to him. "Oh sorry you must be Taehyun! Hi I'm Taehyung, our names are pretty similar hehe" He

stuck his hand out. But instead of shaking it, Taehyun just glared at it then looked up at him "I see you're expecting a greeting..."

"Then give him that greeting! What did I say about being more polite?!!"

"Hyung..! Why did you run ahead like that?" A thirteen year old whined while running to the three.

But his running speed slowed down by the second as he perceived the little brunette sitting on a swing. His pupils dilated and he completely froze.

"Gyu!!" Taehyung yelled "Why are you just standing over there?! Come closer!"

Beomgyu shyly approached them and Taehyung said while giving him a single push "Now introductions!"

The raven haired just fidgeted with the buttons of his shirt, the boy in front of him looked innocent but had this sort of unfriendly aura around him "Um.. I'm Choi Beomgyu, the future sight ebyser"

"I'm Kang Taehyun, the none of your business ebyser."

Jungkook immediately elbowed his arm.

"Ow!" The twelve year old rubbed it and glared at his brother "I mean the blazing ebyser"

"What does the blazing ebys do?" Beomgyu asked in a low voice.

Jungkook answered for his brother "Um It's kind of hard to explain... He's basically pyrokinetic, and is normally able to create and manipulate the fire element"

Taehyun put his hands in his pockets "It's indeed hard to put it into one category... with all the defects it has..." he says with spite.

Taehyung knew this but he still slowly shook his head in disbelief "Taehyun is one of the four classical elements ebysers. That's so rare.. Hey have you met the 3 others?"

Taehyun tsked "Don't ask me such an idiotic question, Jungkook's boyfriend wannabe."

"Anyway!" He clasped his palms together "Now you two will get to know each other because me and Jungkookie are going to leave to get some ice cream!" he laughed maniacally.

"Wait what?!" The youngest snapped, not liking this at all.

"Aish.." Jungkook pulled his brother's arm towards him and said in a low voice "He's an ebyser who's close to your age, try to make friends"

Meanwhile Taehyung leaned down a bit and whispered to Beomgyu "Are you okay? You seem more timid than usual.."

The younger pulled his hoodie up to cover his nose and mouth, trying to hide the pink growing on his cheeks. He mumbled quietly "Your boyfriend's little brother... h-he's so cute- I wasn't prepared for that."

Taehyung's eyes widened, right before he was about to say something, Jungkook had come back to his side

"We'll be back in 20 minutes" Jungkook assured cocky but before when they were about to turn around to leave, the half brother noticed that Taehyun's eyes were glimmering a bright red color.

"Oh no RUN!" Jungkook ran for his life and his boyfriend instinctively followed him confused.

Taehyun made a specific hand motion and by doing that, appeared a levitating bow and arrow that are entirely made out of fire. The boy grabbed the flaming arrow with his bare hands and put it on the bow that was fully drawn back then paused to aim at his brother's butt.

He shot the arrow and his eyes became brown again. 'Any second now...'

"AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!" A scream was heard from a distance.

Taehyun giggled "That's going to leave quite a burn." he then turned to Beomgyu and was taking aback by how the dark haired was just gawking at him.

The older muttered "That was so hot..."

"Hm?" Taehyun batted his eyes "what?"

Beomgyu's face flushed crimson red "Oh no I mean COOL the fire was cool!! oh wait fire isn't cold.. Uh I mean YOU! YOU are cool! THE FIRE is hot, wasn't talking about you HAhAhaH!" the older then covered his face in embarrassment.

'Oh no please he'll think I'm weird! I didn't mean it the grown-up way! Why did I say that!!?'

Taehyun didn't reply to that immediately and just sat on the swing beside him "You deserve an Oscar for figuring out that fire is hot. And No... I'm not cool, I hate my ebys, sure I'm able to control it now but I can't control what's happening inside"

Beomgyu removed his hands from his face "H-huh wait what do you mean?"

The younger then explained to him about the fulminating outbursts. "You can leave now, I get why you'd be uncomfortable around me. I'm used to that and being called a threat to society."

Beomgyu blinked 'The only reason why I'm uncomfortable is because I feel ugly next to you'

"I don't want to leave and I don't think you're a threat"

Taehyun raised a brow at him "You do know that I might accidentally kill you any second from now? My mother, biological father and brother are honestly the only ones who don't care"

The dark haired waved his arms and smiled "You can add me to the list, I don't care either"

Taehyun leaned closer, quite genuinely intrigued by what he just said "You don't? Why?"

Beomgyu was somehow taken off guard by this proximity and flinched away. 'Is this face real? He's so cute.. ah but he's not a girl why am I thinking like this?!'

He could feel himself blushing again, unable to reply and that continued since he suddenly felt extreme dizziness and fell off the swing. Not seeming that alarmed, Taehyun slowly approached him "Are you okay? Are you sleeping?"

Getting no responses, he just walked away unconcerned.

After a while Beomgyu woke up with a smile plastered on his face then went to the younger who was sitting on a bench. "Looks like we will become really close!"

Taehyun glowered at him "Um why are you saying that?"

The older made jazz hands "Future sight...."

"Hm. okay. Whatever.."

Beomgyu's eyes widened "What's.....What's this red light coming out of your body?"

"Oh no.." Taehyun whispered then abruptly pushed Beomgyu "Go! Run as fast as you can!"

"What but-"

"LEAVE!"

'So this is what a fulmination looks like..'

"I'm not leaving you" the older then wrapped his arms around him, shocking the other.

"Are you suicidal?! Let go of me!!" Taehyun yelled trying to get the older off of him.

'I know what I saw. You and I looked older, I won't get a vision like that if we died'

Beomgyu felt like he was in the Sahara dessert but he ignored the burning heat and whispered "You're not a living bomb, you shouldn't seclude yourself from others because of your ebys, you seem like a good person, you're not a threat. Even though we just met, you're already so valid in my eyes"

Taehyun muttered with his eyes welling up "B-But I hurt so many people and that makes me a threat, and you're about to be next"

Beomgyu was still tightly embracing the boy whose chest was radiating a strong warm light that was on the verge of exploding. The light now reached that extent, where either Taehyun or whatever is around him gets badly damaged.

But. Something that seemed like a miracle just occurred. The light slowly went back inside him and Taehyun's body temperature gradually went back to normal.

Beomgyu let go of him and smiled while the other just stared at his trembling hands in complete bewilderment and horror. "W-What..did you do..? This has n-never...happened before..."

Beomgyu gently held his hands, trying to stop the trembling and also just because he wanted to "To be honest, I'm confused as well. But see? We're fine!" he giggled.

'I like how he acts distant but he's actually quite considerate of others..'

Taehyun looked up and smiled softly with a hum. The dark haired blushed faintly 'Pretty..' he then asked smiling

"Wanna be friends?"

Just like Beomgyu predicted it, he and the younger became really close. They went to the same middle and high school and always stayed together, and for some reason, whenever he's with Beomgyu, the blazing ebyser never gets fulminations.

The raven haired caught deep feelings for his close friend and cherished every second he spent with him. But little did he know, around the age of 15, Taehyun started returning the feelings.

And so for a whole year they've been blatantly crushing on each other while being oblivious that they feel the same way, a whole mess.

It was initially a crush but Beomgyu couldn't help but fall really in love with Taehyun when he was 17ish. He naturally had to graduate from their high school first, he knew they would be separated so..

Right before the summer holidays, he had decided to confess something to the brunette...

But after that, the two drifted apart.

They didn't meet up during the summer holidays of that year (2017)

And they didn't speak during Beomgyu's first year at ebys academy.

5 years later

September 2nd 2018

Beomgyu was walking the halls of Ebys academy, a unique school that he transferred to last year.

Today was his first day as a second year and it went pretty well, he was now on his way to attend his after school art class, he wanted to go for music at first but thought of giving this class a try.

When he turned the corner of the hall, it felt like time completely stopped.

There, was standing a blonde boy who was looking at the club posters on the wall. He turned as he could feel someone staring at him.

"Beom hyung??!" He ran towards the older and pinched his cheeks "It is you! How have you been?? I've been looking for you all day"

Beomgyu blushed madly at how attractive Taehyun has gotten in just a year since he last saw him but his flushed face became really troubled. "No... what are you doing here?"

The younger put his fists on his hips "Tada! I'm a new first year at ebys academy!! Hehe did I surprise you?? And look I dyed my hair blonde!"

'No no no no no no...' This one word kept repeating over and over again in Beomgyu's mind, he was not really happy to see the other. And without really thinking, he violently shoved the younger away

"Why are you acting like nothing happened between us a year ago?!!"

"What the hell was that for?!" Taehyun snapped at the older "What are you talking about?"

Beomgyu clenched his fists and looked down in resentment "Last year, I told you how much I loved you... but.. you rejected me so f*ckin harshly, right in front of my face!"

"I have no memory of doing that, wait you love me?" Taehyun bluntly said.

"Don't lie you freaking jerk! Do you know how much that broke me?!! You even called me gross, I had no idea how to face you after that so we stopped talking for a year and now you casually show up like this, like nothing happened?!"

"How could you..?" Beomgyu's voice sounded broken "How could you be so heartless? It took me so much courage to do that. Insults after insults, you just had to tell me how disgusted you were that I loved you huh? I even gave you a rose and you tore it to pieces.. All that absolutely destroyed me, and you didn't care, you just went to Nari."

"But—"

Beomgyu had it "Shut up! I can't believe I fell and cried over someone as cruel as you.. I hate you!"

Taehyun genuinely doesn't remember doing that. His blood started boiling at he yelled at the other "Why would I reject someone I like, you airhead! And why would I attend a school that's so far away from my house?! You're the reason why I'm here and now you speak to me like this! Why so mean? I haven't done anything wrong!"

Beomgyu paused "...S-someone you li-"

"F*ck you." Taehyun walked away.

"Apathy and memory loss are the main side effects of consuming ebys pills"

After remembering what he was told a long time ago, Beomgyu clenched his fists again 'Even if you forgot about it, it still happened...'

Ever since then, even though the two were finally attending the same school again, they weren't friends anymore. Beomgyu has also been telling or lying to himself that he doesn't love the younger anymore.
