No Longer Me | Taegi✔️1,998 words~10 min read

"Hey, guys."

Jungkook sat down next to Namjoon, still smiling shyly as usual, but this time inviting himself to sit with the two in the library instead of being dragged there by Namjoon. Both Yoongi and Namjoon were surprised at the sudden arrival, but they didn't mind.

"Hey, Koo," Namjoon greeted him as he placed his hand on the smaller's back. Jungkook bit his lip, trying his best not to make eye contact.

"So, what're you guys doing today?" he asked. It certainly was a random question, but it felt like a normal conversation with a friend now that Jungkook was talking more.

"I have a bunch of stuff to do," Namjoon sighed. "I'm coming back here after school to work with someone who's been slacking on schoolwork and asked me to help them. After that, I'm doing my daily reading, and then after that, Hoseok and I are going to go to the new arcade because he asked me to go."

Jungkook nodded, seeming to take in everything. Yoongi on the other hand was blinking at the book he had picked out earlier, eyebrows furrowed as Namjoon explained his whole day which was somehow planned out perfectly.

"You sure do plan things out," he told his friend. "I don't. I just go with the flow. Somebody asks me to do something, I do it. I don't really plan ahead of time."

"Oh," Jungkook perked up. "Then does that mean you don't have any plans?" he asked. Yoongi shrugged. He hadn't planned much at all. Like, ever. The only time he plans things is when Hoseok practically forces him to.

"I'm free today," he told.

Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip even more. He was now staring outside of the window with a bit of a debatable look, but Yoongi brushed it off because Jungkook eventually looked up at him with big eyes, making the human avert his own.

"Wanna do something?" he asked.

Yoongi's eyes slightly widened at the question. He wasn't expecting to be asked that today or ever at all. He chuckled as Namjoon looked at the other vampire dramatically, his own eyes wide and mouth parted slightly. "Like what?" Namjoon asked, but Jungkook also chuckled and waved him off with his hand.

"You're busy today," he told Namjoon. As he leaned forward to look at Yoongi, Namjoon was muttering something about being ignored and how unfair this is. "We could do whatever you want. Jimin's been nagging at me lately because I've been in the house too much, but he and Taehyungie hyung never want to hang. So how about it?" he asked Yoongi.

Yoongi considered how dangerous it could be to hang out with just some other vampire, but he figured that since Jungkook is Taehyung's friend that he wouldn't hurt him.

"Sure," he agreed.

They ended up going to a small restaurant. It was a restaurant that they had both seen before but hadn't actually gone to. Apparently, both Yoongi and Jungkook were up for trying new things that day. They were hanging out for the first time together and it was sort of strange. It was even more odd as Jimin spotted them on the way to the bus together and asked them why they were doing so. Honestly, Yoongi didn't even know why he agreed. Maybe it's because he has the same problem as the vampire. He stays either in his room or the library and it's getting kind of worrying.

So, here he is. Being less worrying.

They both bought the same meal of lamb skewers. It was oddly enough satisfying watching Jungkook gobble down food despite being a vampire. It made no sense, but he doesn't think Jungkook cares much about making sense at all, anyway. Yoongi also ended up paying for the food, shushing the vampire as he tried to do it instead.

"Fine," he said. "Next time, I pay."

"Sure you will."

Yoongi paid for the food and they left the restaurant. Jungkook was mostly silent the whole time that they were eating, but not in a bad way. It was quite easy to get along with the boy because he was so obedient to him.

"So," Jungkook started as they were waiting for the bus to come. Yoongi glanced up at him and noticed that the vampire had his eyes on something else instead. "You're really nice. I can see why Taehyung likes hanging out with you." He then looked up at Yoongi, the human's curious eyes peering back at him.

Yoongi had never really thought about how likable he is until he realized that Taehyung doesn't like him. He had never questioned if people liked him or not. It never mattered to him. All his years of living, he had not once been insecure about his personality— not until he realized he probably should be. So, hearing that from Jungkook made him smile.

"I didn't even do anything," he told Jungkook, who then shrugged in return.

"Didn't have to do much."

-

The next time Yoongi found himself hanging out with Jungkook, it was at his own house. Yoongi had now been used to his friends coming in like normal, but then Taehyung came in, and even now Jungkook has somehow made his way in. Two new people entering his life, just like that. To think that Yoongi had been worried just two years ago about not having a friend, and now he has plenty. It makes his heart full and at ease.

Jungkook was even shyer when he met Yoongi's mother than when he had first met Yoongi. Hell, the first time they spoke, Jungkook was nearly about to kill him. It was quite hilarious to Yoongi. Jungkook wasn't sure of what to do with himself as he spoke to Yoongi's mother like he had never talked to a human a single day in his existence.

"Don't laugh at me," Jungkook pouted as they entered Yoongi's bedroom. "I've seriously been cooped up in the house for so long. I only talk to Taehyung and Jimin. It's been this way for years. You're so unfair, human."

Yoongi chuckled as he plopped back onto his bed, his foot cast whacking loudly against the side of his bed frame— thank God he officially gets rid of it next week. He patted the spot next to him, inviting Jungkook, who hesitantly made his way to sit down there.

"If you've been so cooped up, what the hell have you been doing?" Yoongi asked.

"Well, I do a lot of things," Jungkook said as he scratched his forehead, furrowing his eyebrows as he glanced around the bedroom to take in his surroundings. "I play games, mess around with art, social media, guitar— I just do a lot of random things to pass time."

Yoongi understands that. That's what he does most of the time, so he's not judging.

"So you—"

The doorbell to the house unexpectedly went off, the ringing echoing into his small room. Yoongi glanced at his window and noted that the sun was going to be going down soon. Taehyung must be at the door. He glimpsed at Jungkook before he slid off of the bed, grunting as he dragged his foot to stand up.

"Tae?" Jungkook asked.

Yoongi hummed. "How did you know?" he asked. Jungkook merely shrugged as Yoongi opened his bedroom door. "Just sit here. I'll go get him," he said as he made his way out of the door, closing it behind him. He made his way halfway down the stairs before he stopped, realizing that his mother was speaking. Then his mother came into view with Taehyung, who was having a conversation with her.

"Mom?" Yoongi questioned. His mom turned to him and then smiled sweetly.

"I'll leave you guys alone," she said. "Tell your little cutie friend upstairs that he can stay for dinner if he wants." She turned to Taehyung, who was now looking at Yoongi in confusion. "Tae, honey, you can stay too."

Taehyung merely nodded before he took his first step up on the staircase. "Thanks," he let out as he began stepping towards Yoongi.

Yoongi followed, watching as Taehyung went straight to the bedroom door without even asking or saying anything. As he opened it, Jungkook came into view. He was laid out on Yoongi's bed, arms crossed under his head as he looked around the room. Taehyung halted in the doorway, which made Yoongi's footsteps stop as well. Jungkook looked up at him and he softened up more as their eyes met.

"Hey," he said to Taehyung.

Jungkook sounded so chill, but Taehyung tilted his head and gaped at Jungkook like he didn't belong there at all. "Why are you here?" he asked. Jungkook sat up on Yoongi's bed and frowned a little, earning Yoongi's full attention now— because he had been so focused on Taehyung that he hadn't cared to notice anything else.

"Do you not want me here?" Jungkook asked as he looked at Yoongi. His eyes widened at the question and he pushed by Taehyung, finally making it back inside his bedroom.

"I never said that," Yoongi told him, completely ignoring the confused look on Taehyung's face. He sat down next to Jungkook and placed his hand on his shoulder. "We can all hang out. We're all friends here."

"We are?" Taehyung asked.

Yoongi narrowed his eyes at him. "Yes, we are. Now get in here if you're going to."

Taehyung seemed a little thrown off, but Yoongi didn't care. If Taehyung is bothered by him having friends, then he should just leave. Other than that, Taehyung will have to accept the fact that this is Yoongi's bedroom and all of his friends are invited. Not just him. Why does he seem so bothered, anyway?

"Honestly, I love your bedroom," Jungkook announced as Taehyung slowly closed the door behind him. "Like that guitar over there is so cool." His eyes were set on Yoongi's black guitar. Yoongi is pretty musically talented, but he never uses it. He bought the guitar and taught himself some stuff, but that's about it. "Do you play guitar?" Jungkook asked.

Yoongi scooted over, letting Taehyung sit beside them. He bit his lip as he felt Taehyung's hand resting behind him, pressing his arm into the human's warm back. His whole body was going warm now as Taehyung just let himself be there, be known.

"Yep."

"That's so cool," Jungkook grinned big back at him. His eyes sparkled, amusement in them as he nudged Yoongi's arm. "You didn't mention that earlier when I told you that I play guitar," he said. "We could play sometime."

Taehyung slid his hand away slowly, giving Yoongi time to finally breathe. He really couldn't focus with Taehyung so close to him. "If you want to, we can." He looked down at his fingertips. "I haven't exactly played in a while, so I'm not sure if I remember any songs."

Jungkook picked up Yoongi's hand and ran his thumb across the fingertips that Yoongi was so drawn into. "Don't worry," he said. "We could always just learn together." He looked up at Taehyung, who was awfully quiet. "And Tae can be our audience. We'll play you a fun song, don't worry." He winked at his friend.

"Yay." Taehyung sounded unamused, but both Jungkook and Yoongi brushed it off.

"Don't worry about him," Jungkook murmured, clearly loud enough for Taehyung to hear. "He's just mad because he can't play guitar like I can." He giggled to himself as Taehyung rolled his eyes.

"I'm not," Taehyung claimed. "I wouldn't be the best audience. Someone else can do it."

Yoongi huffed. "Party pooper." He didn't miss the way Taehyung sighed as Jungkook snickered. "Come on, we're just teasing you," Yoongi said. Taehyung still wasn't joking around. His eyes were focused on anything else but them and his face was blank. It made Yoongi feel a little guilty for teasing.

Taehyung shrugged. "It's fine."
