That night Lotta had a fever, which lasted until the next day and didnât pass.
Viktor was worried and tried to talk with the doctor about it, but he said that was usual, considering her state, so he came back after practice to see how is she doing.
Her body was shaking and she tried to open her eyes.
It seemed like she was fighting with herself.
âLotta?â Viktor called her, hoping she would hear him.
And she did.
She was aware the whole time of what was going on around her, but she just couldnât tell.
âThe doctor said that your fever is normal, you got a few stitches on your back.
âSo, I know that is not how you imagine it, but happy birthday, Lottaâ, he said and gave her a little box, but she couldnât take it, she was too weak.
âHere, let me help youâ, he said and opened it.
There was a silver bracelet with her name on it, and a pendant with a wolfâs head.
On the inside was engraved Friends Forever.
âI have the same one, so I meant what it writenâ, he said.
âThank you, I will keep it foreverâ, she smiled at him.
âAre you okay?â He asked when her face went pale and she was starting to shake.
âNoâ; it was her answer.
âIâll call the doctorâ, Victor said.
âNoâ, she raised her voice.
âYou need something for that, you are not okay, youâre in painâ, he was upset.
âI Im, and it will last, because I will transform and you must to take me to the woods, far away from here as possibleâ, she said.
âIn your condition?â
âNo way, itâs better that you stay hereâ, he protests.
âI wont stay here, and my condition will improve, as soon I transformâ, she said.
âYou wonât handle it there, you too weakâ, he pleaded to her.
âDonât make me crawl there, Victor, pleaseâ, she whispered, in sweat.
âYou know I can handle itâ, she said to him.
He looked at her for a few seconds, then inhaled deeply.
âIt will be harder for you than it was for me, or else because you hurt, you know thatâ, he said while taking her into his arms.
She wained from the pain when he picked her up, but she held tightly onto him.
âShit!â Viktor cursed, because he knew how much she was in pain, and more of it waited for her, soon.
âWhat the hell are you doing?â The doctor asked when he came into the room.
âShe will transform, I need o get her out of hereâ, Victor answered and walked toward the entrance.
âYoung man!â Doctor called.
Victor stopped.
âAt least, let me give hor a few shots for the pain, if she believes you then I wonât protest, but...â
âIf you need me, call me, ok?âThe doctor said after he gave her shots.
Victor nodded and left with Lotta in his arms.
He ran as fast as he could, because Lotta already started to feel how all the bones in her body hurt, and she couldnât suppress a groaning, from the pain in her body.
He was far away from the pack, near the border, when he put her on the ground.
Her hospital dress started to break, and she was sweating and breathing fast and heavily.
Although every werewolf must transform, and Victor knew it well, he couldnât bear his best friend to suffer that much, more so, because the stitches broke, and she was in the blood.
Nevertheless, he was next to her, holding her hand and listening to her screams, until everything stopped, and a golden ball of fur was in front of him.
Viktor couldnât believe what he was looking at.
Lotta was a golden wolf!
It was rare, and many thought they were extinct.
She was just lying there, without moving, which meant her body was in shock and needed a rest, and second was that her back was recovering from whipping.
Victor was happy, but he didnât dare to transform himself, because he didnât know how she would react to his wolf, he meant.
Golden wolves were strong and they could be healers also, but too dangerous when they were in danger, so he decided to wait.
When she opened her eyes they were glowing green, and he was stunned.
She stood up and got close to him, starting to lick his hand.
At that moment he knew she wouldnât hurt him, and he transformed, because his wolf Sheen, wanted finally to meet Tessa, and show her all the freedom of transformation of being a werewolf.
She couldnât run fast at first, but Sheen was speeding more and more so she succeeded o following him, and she felt great.
For the first time in her life, she felt freedom and strength that she never had before and she knew now that she would be missing this way of life more.
She felt tired and they started to get back slowly to the place they were before running.
Viktor gave her his T-shirt because her dress was torn up from transformation.
âThank you for everything youâve done for meâ, she said to him.
âyou welcomeâ, he smiled.
âLet me see your backâ, Victor asked.
âIâm fine, you donât haftoâ...but Viktor already lifted her shirt and his face paled.
âJesusâ, he said stunned.
âI told you Iâm fineâ, she pulled up the shirt down.
âIâm healdâ, she smiled, shyly.
âBut the scarsâ...he said horrified.
âJust leave it , Viktorâ, she was serious.
âIâm aware of my scars, and I donât want to talk about it , also I donât want anyone to knowâ, she said.
âWhat do you mean, you donât want anyone to know?âHe asked, surprised.
âThose are my scars, Viktorâ, she whispered.
" And She will be unpunished?!â He was upset now.
âWhat do you think, will she ?â She asked, in disbelief.
âOr, will I?â
