Chapter Thirty Five- This hilarious meeting

I was already feeling unsure of this hilarious meeting when I started to get closer to the address dad had sent me.

My heart was pounding wildly, my hands felt clammy.

I didn't even know if the principal of this school would take me seriously, because as good as I reminisced Mr. Black never took me really seriously.

Now, after Kim's call, in the back of my mind I was ignoring two things. Two things which would ruin this meeting if I let myself feel anything.

Numb was better option than any.

'Don't let me down...' Dad's words echoed in my ears and I realized I was already there.

I relaxed and slowly took off the pressure from the gas paddle, trying to find an empty space to park in the parking lot of the Missionary School. It's a very prestigious school in the whole city with a really amazing reputation. And now, my dad's thinking of buying it.

Ugh!

Let's see how it goes.

I climbed off the car and locked it before heading towards the right building. There were three buildings. One was the school and the other two; girls and boys hostel.

I walked inside the school and stopped. Every student looked my way. And for the first time, I'd worn formals. A white shirt with knee-length black pencil skirt, and a high neat ponytail with a decent amount of makeup while holding an almost empty black file for show.

I didn't have many papers to put in.

I walked over to the main office, trying my best to look confident while inside I was freaking the hell out. I smiled at every possible kid and even at the guys of my own age in the same uniform as all, eyeing me.

It was a huge school with classes from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Imagine how ginormous it was. I didn't know we could buy something like this. Well, maybe my dad had it over his head and didn't really think it through. Or maybe I was completely unaware of how much our company really earned.

I saw a girl standing outside the door of the main office.

"Yes, may I help you Miss?" The beautiful lady who looked in her late twenties asked me.

I nodded. "Indeed. I have an appointment with Mr. Miller. My name's Michelle Reynold."

"R-Reynold?" Her voice was suddenly from sure and confident to panicked.

Scrunching my brows at her, I nodded. What was her deal? Was she terrified of me? My name?

Jesus!

"Please go ahead and have a seat. Mr. Miller will join you in couple of minutes." She immediately opened the door and offered me to head inside.

I nodded, smiling and stepped inside. It was a average sized office with shelves of trophies and certificates on display behind Mr. Miller's chair. A glass desk with three chairs sat there, like in every other office I had seen. Everything was neat and tidy and highly organized.

I sat on the mushy black leather chair, it was the one you could roll on. My favorite ones.

I wiped my sweaty hands over my skirt and pulled my socks higher, to keep my legs warm. I should've worn something warmer even though I was sweating from anxiety, cold shivers ran through my body.

"What deed you do to come hea?"

I jumped back at the voice, placing a hand on my heart. Oh my god! I literally skipped few heart beats this time.

I swallowed the lump and looked at the other chair beside me. I turned it over towards me.

"Huh?" I looked at a small figure cuddle up in the huge chair- probably trying to scare the shit out of people and succeeding. It was as if he wasn't even sitting there. He was so small.

"You scared the... gummy bears in me" I said, catching myself at the right time and smiling, removing my hand from my heavily breathing chest. My legs felt wobbly.

The small guy chuckled and propped his small legs in front of him, which was still inside the boundary of the chair. God! He was really small. Or the chair was excruciating big.

I looked around. What the hell was he doing here all alone?

I grinned down at him. "Hi, I am Michelle." I extended my hand and he willingly took it. The boy looked like maybe four years old or even younger.

"I am Ky." He said and pulled his soft small hand back. I wanted to grab him up and place him in my lap so I could cuddle with him. He smelled like sweet vanilla ice cream and I almost asked how.

"Ky, what are you doing here?"

I had zero experience in How-and-what-to-talk-to-a-kid. Since... I was a single child and all my friends had either none or older siblings. Neither had I had any relatives come over at my house so I could play with their children.

So, I just hoped that I was doing great with this little one.

And no matter what mom's words from yesterday rang in my ears. Looking at Ky, I wondered if my brother would have been alive... would he have looked this adorably cute?

"Playing football." he smirked, wiggling his brows.

I threw my head back and laughed. How in the hell could he be sarcastic while he's this small?

Jesus!

I rolled my eyes, still laughing in disbelief. Did every child was extra smart at this age?

"Okay...Ky, why are you here?" I asked again.

He blushed and looked away. "I peed in my pants in the class even after my warden told me not to."

I bit my lip so I wouldn't laugh, encouraging him in any way. "Why did you then?"

His beautiful eyes flickered at me before he crossed his small arms around his chest, what looked like pouting.

I raised my eyebrows to ask but, he didn't utter a word.

"Okay.. let me tell you a secret. When I was your age, I had a habit of drooling and everyone made jokes at me, and laughed at me... But, it didn't matter later. You'll learn not to do it and everything would be fine." I saddened at the memory. Whatever I told him was true.

"Do you do it now?" He questioned, facing me, animatedly.

I cracked a small smile and shook my head. "No. Not anymore. As I grew up, it disappeared. Now, no one makes fun of me."

He nodded, as if he understood everything.

Awe, he's so adorable. Can I pretty please take him home with me?

"Now, will you tell me yours? Pinky promise it will be our secret." I extended my pinky and he linked his with mine, goofily grinning.

His smile washed away before he explained, "Whenever Riya holds my hand or when anyone scares me, I pee my pants... It just happens..." His cute little eyes glistened with what I assumed tears.

"Who's Riya?" I had a feeling I was going to unite two soulmates.

"Why are you here?" He asked, ignoring my question.

Smart kid!

I smirked. "Okay... one on one it is then. I am here because my dad sent me for a meeting with your principle. But, I didn't want to come..."

"Do you like your dad?" His question surprised me.

"No... it's my turn..." I pouted and he chuckled.

"Who's Riya?"

"She's a girl in my class who always sits with me and talks to me and sometimes holds my hand too."

I grinned as he blushed, "Do you like her, Ky?"

He nodded and I tickled him until he cracked into laughter. Okay, I'm definitely taking him home, pleaseeeee!!

He wiped the laughing tear from his cheek and sighed, looking at me, "It was my turn... Do you like your dad?"

Really smart kid!

"Yes and no. Yes, because he is my dad and no because he's never around like a real dad is supposed to..."

Whom am I kidding?

I am talking to a kid who's barely four years old and probably doesn't understand anything I say...

But, to my surprise he nodded, looking away.

"What happened? Do you like your dad?"

"Can we not talk about it? My brother has told me not to talk about him to anyone." I furrowed my brows.

I saw gleam in his eyes and next second he was in my lap. I had to rescue him. God! I wanted vanilla ice cream.

"Do you like ice cream?"

His gray eyes lit up as he nodded and informed, "Chocolate. Why? Are you getting me one?"

I thought about it and nodded. "Yes, I promise. I will take you to get some ice cream after my quick meeting with Mr. Miller. Okay?"

His face fell and shoulders sagged. Man! He knew how to get his way didn't he?

"What happens if he don't lemme go?" I loved how he tried to make sense of his sentences.

"Mr. Miller won't let me go after he know I peed in my pants again." he explained.

I giggled and assured him that he wouldn't do anything to him and I would surely take him out for some ice cream later.

The door to the office opened and we turned our heads, expecting Mr. Miller but it wasn't him.

My heart stopped.
