Thank you so much for giving it a chance. I hope you won't be disappointed ♡

Chapter One: End of summer.

"Elle! It's time, honey." Mom yelled from down the hall. Her shrilling voice echoed in my head for exactly five seconds before fading away.

"Almost up!" I screeched back, and evilly smiling, cuddled deep inside my blanket. Pain shot through my head and I almost cried out loud.

Shit! What the hell did I drink last night?!

But this blanket... Jeez! It's so warm. Just like heaven's supposed to be.

"Yeah, like hell you are." Mother sighed, her voice closer than it should be. Oh, god! I couldn't believe that I'd freaking slept for barely three hours. (Thank you so much Justin)

Plus, Mom waking me up was plain magic. Because she'd hardly ever done that. It's usually Marissa-- my nanny/housekeeper/care taker-- and she's too good to take advantage of. So you see my point.

Before I could retort or lie to her again, mom crashed inside my room, her footsteps getting louder with each step, her heels furiously clanking against the marble floor.

In that moment, I just wished I had a magic wand so I could make myself disappear!

"As I said! You and up? No way in the hell will that ever happen. It will take more than a miracle to wake up Michelle Reynold on time." I loved when she played I-care-about-you with me.

But, she was right about the miracle thing. It was true that I wasn't really a morning person, neither I could ever be.

She heaved an exaggerated sigh and snatched my cozy-mushy blanket away from me. The little warmth which I just started to feel was also taken away from me.

Wonderful!

I snapped my eyes open, slightly rubbing them and then stifled a long eyes watering yawn.

"Mom please..." I grumbled, and when she didn't give it back to me, I sat upright stalling another yawn with the back of my hand.

After stretching my arms and legs, I glared at her in disbelief. She was definitely something else. Some days she didn't even care what the heck was going on in my life and then other days it was as if she wanted to win a best mother award or something.

Ugh!

She was hovering over my body with her arms crossed over her Chest. Her green eyes glaring down at me while her red coated lips were pressed into a tight line-- I assumed in anger.

I really don't get what her problem is.

"What?" I asked, dropping the tough act and massaging my throbbing temples, reminiscing how bad they hurt.

"Do not what me! And don' look at me like that, Michelle. I am your mom and you're the one who need to go to school-- not me. Now get your butt inside that thing called bathroom and be the good child I've raised you to be." She spoke without hesitating once.

Unintentionally, I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, sure. But, only if you had raised me." I gibbered under my breath.

Gladly, she didn't hear what I said but,  picked up on few pieces. "Say whatever you want to my face, Michelle. Don't mumble under your breath."

I gave her a poker look and shook my head. It was useless trying to win an already lost war. I couldn't believe she was giving me her favorite Dos and Don'ts this early in the morning while my head was about to explode.

"I didn't say anything. And please can you at least hand me an aspirin first? My head really hurts." I roared in pain when a sharp pang rose as if I'd been run over by a truck last night.

I'm never drinking again!!

Miracle did happen because she did what I said without further argument, but she made sure to keep the blanket at the edge of my queen size bed so I wouldn't be able to reach it.

Giving me one of mom's look, she rummaged through my dresser drawers and got hold of one thing in the world which I needed baldly in that moment.

She grabbed the glass of water from the side table and came towards me. "Obviously it will hurt, sweetheart. Especially, when a seventeen year old like you would stay out late partying  and consuming this much of alcohol, not to mention (then don't) absolutely forgetting about the school she has in the morning. It will hurt."

Jeez!!!! Seriously?  Please dear world swallow me.

Isn't she getting late for work or something?

"Mom, stop already! It was Justin's party for the end of summer! And please really drop the I care about you act. You too were at a party last night with dad. I'm not whining over it, am I?"

"Oh," She placed her hand on her chest with a touch of fake hurt, "This is how you talk to you mother now? What is this? Some kind of new teen trend? Disrespecting your parents."

My heart pounded a little faster. Maybe I did cross the line. Ughhhh!

"Yeah. I'm sorry." I accepted, already  exhausted for the day.

She glanced away and tried to bring some tears for dramatic affect but when they didn't come, she took a deep breath. "Michelle, even if I was at a party last night at least I'm awake and all dressed up unlike you. And, I definitely don't approve of the way you just attacked me. I thought we were doing better after you know..."

She's talking about the mother-daughter therapy sessions she insisted on taking few months ago when our relationship was on the verge of breaking. Long story...

Well not so much. We all have ups and downs in our families and just like that, I guess I had mine.

"Mom," I held her hand in mine and gave her my puppy look— hoping it might cool things off.

Struggling to find right words to say to cheer her up, I simply apologized, "I didn't mean that. I am really really sorry if I hurt your feelings. I just... you know, I'm hungover and I don't really know what I'm saying." I groaned and a small smile formed on her lips.

Thankgod!

I thought I would have to cut school and be here trying to be sorry for something I am actually not.

She stood up and straightened her knee length skirt. I took a good look at her and realised how similar we were and yet so different. Her blonde hair were made in a neat classy bun, her outfit was perfectly professional-- light blue button down shirt with a black blazer on top which ended short on her waist, a black pencil skirt and finally  finished her look with long black heels.

"Now, can I get some blueberry pancakes before I've to go to school? I think I am starving here." I mustered, with puppy eyes and she instantly nodded, standing up with a grin held onto her lips.

"Marissa had already prepared them for you. I'll see you at dinner, honey."

I nodded and then she left.

Grumbling profanities at the school authorities for having school at such an early hour, I climbed off the bed, stifling yet another yawn, and somehow managed to trudge towards my walk-in-closet.

Picking or I should say grabbing whatever I thought I got with a first hold, I walked out towards the bathroom.

'Welcome September.' I smiled and did a little happy dance in my shower rain. With full honesty, I confess, 'I am in love with winters, no matter how tempting summers are.'

But, we get little of winter and lots of summer here.

I let the mildly cold water hit my body and then my hair. Scrubbing my body and shampooing my hair, I let the water run down at me, washing it all away, and padded out in my baby pink towel. Water dripped from my blond hair, as I finished my makeup-routine. I dried my hair and let the towel drop.

First, I slipped on my bra and underwear and then, hastily scrambled into my sky denims shorts and peach color tank top.

I smudged the earlier wore eye-shadow to give it a messy look and ran a hand through my hair.

Make-up= Check.

Hair= Check.

Clothes= Check.

Boots?

Oops.

I walked into my closet again and from the huge shoe wall, I picked the long brown boots placed in the middle at the second shelf.

Just before grabbing my last few things to stroll downstairs, I took a glance in the mirror at my reflection. I loved myself no doubt. I loved the fact that I was born rich. I loved the fact that I was beautiful or all said so.

And, I was also a person with a human heart just like others. But, I usually got misinterpreted for wrong words I used or totally misunderstood for my actions.

I reminisced when once upon a time I was a kind person—talking and helping everyone. They bullied me, took my intelligence for granted but, when I decided to take my stand and be who I should be. . . they gave me a title of a 'Bitch'.

And I wore it like a crown.

I used to get all upset over it long ago but, not anymore. I made myself clear that people say what they have to no matter how hard you try to show them otherwise.

So, why not just do what you want? You don't have to show anything to anyone.

Giving myself a brave smile, I left.

And,

Yes, I talk to myself a lot.

I strolled downstairs and saw one of my best friend sitting at the table— stuffing her big mouth.

Kimmy Richards. I call her Kim. She got those beautiful silky-smooth black hair— which cascaded down her shoulders, thin lashes, chocolate brown eyes, high cheekbones, plumped hot pink lips, tanned skin, and what not? I only have an inch over her. And she also got that athlete physique— with all right curves. And if I was to talk about her character... well, she's complicated. One moment she can be sweet as sugar and next heartless as a bitch.

I usually call her that too.

Kim stopped swallowing when she spotted me. Her brown eyes smiling, her eyebrows raised up with content.

"I thought you came here to get me, fat ass." I grumbled and rolled my eyes in a fake hurt, once I was off the stairs.

"Awwww." She glanced up, showing me her half chewed food in her mouth.

I ignored her and made my way towards the table. She continued, "You know, this food here is so much more tempting than you. I just couldn't resist." She licked her lips in the end.

I punched her, playfully, "Ow, don't kill me now..."

I smirked. "But yeah, I gotta agree with you there." I grinned looking at the half eaten pancake in her plate and took a seat beside her.

"I'm always right, you know..." Kim raised her eyebrow at me, her lips uplifted from the side.

Rolling my eyes, I scowled at her and she replied with one of her hearty laughs.

I dropped my bag beside me on the chair and made myself comfortable while waiting for my plate of pancakes.

"Thank you Marissa." I said, smiling to our house keeper, as she plated my breakfast just as I liked.

"Oh, don't mention it dear. I hope you girls have a great day at school." She mumbled and strode back to the kitchen.

"So, what happened last night?" Kim asked, causing me to stop chewing and eye her in a confused manner.

"What are you talking about?" I seriously had zilch idea.

"Ugh! Last night. At the party! I mean with Justin." Her brown eyes twinkling with mischief.

My heart skipped a beat. Did something happen between us?!

God, no!

I grabbed her hand and squeezed, "What the hell are you talking about?" I let go, leaning back in my seat.

I kept quiet wondering what the hell happened last night. Alcohol had never before wiped off my memory then why this time?

It started to agitate me and Kim took this look on my face for one of blushing.

Grinning, she collided her shoulder with mine and winked at me. "Details."

I smirked, trying to hide the fact one frigging night was missing from my memory. "Nothing happened and nothing ever will. Now eat before I kick you out."

"Don't forget I'm your ride."

I rolled my eyes and said, "Don't forget I have plenty more cars in the garage, you know..."

"Whatever." Her shoulders sagged down and she rolled her brown eyes with a sad pout— which I just couldn't resist and laughed.

I looked at my wrist watch. "We're going to be late."

"Oh god!" She stood up so fast. "I had an early morning meeting. I'm so screwed."

I chuckled, "Shit! We're screwed together. I had one too."

Once Kim and I were inside the car, I injected the keys, turning the engine alive of my black BMW. The latest model, baby.

"Jeez! I'm going to love being a senior."

"So am I..." I squeaked right after her and drove off to Richmond High School.
