34. Nurse Winston

- Hannah spent her night in a jail cell

- Between the throwing up, her mother dying, and her cousin trying to sell her, she didn't sleep much

- And she made it everyone's problem

- "So this what you guys do on Friday nights? Arrest fucking children? I don't need to be here, I need to go to a fucking hospital because I am concussed! That's right bitch, keep walking or I swear I'll-"

- If she isn't cussing out Tulsa 'finest', she's throwing up into a garbage can in the corner

- She wouldn't admit it, but she was scared now

- Jack was freaking out both times she met him, and it sounded like the guy he owed was not a nice guy

- She'd gotten on the wrong side of guys like that before

- And it almost cost her her life

- The fact that Verna was dead didn't set in until the morning

- That was also the time Dallas came to pick her up

- "Get the fuck outta my way, I'm here for my sister."

- So Dallas has to stand at the front desk and fill out a bunch of paper while being extremely hungover

- Man forgot the second L in his name

- Dalas Winston

- But the cops don't care

- So one goes into the cell and pulls her up

- And Dal starts yelling

- "What the fuck were you doing last night?! You had one job! Meet! Me! At! Buck's!"

- Hannah looks like a wreck

- Her hair's a mess and half falling out of her ponytail

- Mascara is clumped under her eyes

- Blood is stained on her lip and side of her face

- "Dally...I didn't mean- Jack, he..."

- And that's when he realizes he messed up

- The Gang called him Dally as a nickname

- Hannah called him Dally when she was scared

- So pulls her to Buck's car

- "What did Jack do?"

- Hannah had no idea what to say

- So she passes him the envelope

- Dallas opens it and reads through it

- "Hannah, we knew she wasn't gonna last long."

- He's trying to be nice, but he's just really fucking blunt

- This kid could not care less that his mother is dead

- "Now tell me what Jack fuckin' did."

- So she tells him everything he said

- Dallas is ready to commit a second murder

- He's ready to get away with it, too

- But murder has to wait

- Because Hannah is literally turning green

- They get to Buck's without Hannah puking her guts out on the highway

- So that's a win

- But she's really dizzy

- And she needs to get upstairs

- Dallas is legit pushing her

- "Would you fuckin' chill? I'm waiting for the room to stop spinning."

- "Well I'm not waiting all fuckin' day!"

- This dumbass just picks her up

- Not nicely or anything, just arms around her waist and heaves her up

- "I'm gonna puke."

- "Just don't get any on me."

- Hannah takes care of herself and has a shower

- She managed to get her clothes on before she starts puking again

- So Dal ends up picking the lock on her door

- "I lock the door for a reason, y'know."

- He holds her hair back

- "Y'know, the last time I held a girl's hair back was with Sylvia. She did this thing with her tongue, it was really weird but super fucking hot-"

- Hannah's laughing

- And that makes Dallas laugh

- "I don't wanna hear about your sex life!"

- She's too tired to go all the way back to her bed

- So Dallas pulls the blanket and pillows off and makes her a bed on the floor

- Buck is cleaning the bar

- Occasionally checking in on her

- "How're ya feeling?" "Is the music too loud?" "Need some water?"

- And bringing her advil and snacks :)

- Dal gets a call from Darry

- "How is she?"

"She's fine. Got a concussion and a little sick, but that's it. She just woke up."

"What the fuck Dal! She isn't supposed to sleep if she's concussed!"

"Why not?"

"In case she has brain damage!"

- "Hannah! What's five plus ten!"

"Fuck you! I'm not a genius, I'm ill!"

"Trust me Dar, she's fine."

- If Hannah needs anything, she'll just yell "Nurse!"

- Dal usually answers with, "I am not your fucking nurse."

- "Then why did you come when I called?"

- He realizes she's pretty upset about Verna when he comes into her room and her eyes are red

- So he sits on the floor with her for a while

- And plays with her hair

- "I know you cared about her, but don't lose any sleep over this, okay kid? Verna wasn't a good mom. A good mom wouldn't have made you do those things. Y'know that, right?"

- "Yeah, I just... do you think she died alone?"

- "I don't think she would've cared if we were there."

- These two fall asleep on the floor for the afternoon

- Until Hannah slaps him in the face with a pillow

- "Holy shit Dal, we're orphans."

- "I'm about to make myself an only child, too."

- Nighttime rolls around and Hannah is feeling as sick anymore

- "Thanks for playing nurse with me."

- "Better be a one-day deal, otherwise, I'm dropping you off at the Curtis house tomorrow."

- Dallas and Buck wait until they're sure Hannah is asleep

- They go to the hospital and find Jack in his truck

- And beat the living shit out of him

- "An' if you ever come near my sister again, I'll make sure you don't walk away."

- Jack yelled at him about going against 'family'

- But Dallas knew Hannah was the only family he'd ever really need
