[1] The address 夫人 (furen) is only used for noble madams, or the wife/mother of officials. Generally, for wealthy commoner women that were married the address is 太太 (taitai) which I find that people usually just translate to madam as well since there’s not really a specific address in english that works. And for older or married lower class women, aka poor commoners, usually they are addressed as 大婶 meaning aunty.
