When Yasmin saw the text, she was stunned.
She didnât expect Annalise to move so quickly. It had just been a day, and she had already
arranged a blind date candidate for her. She had even sent the manâs number over.
Yasmin added him to her contacts.
It was good. The earlier she settled this, the sooner she would be free.
She replied to Annalise with âOkay.â Then, she turned around and picked a new dress that she had
designed in her studio. She did some light makeup before going on her blind date.
Just as she picked up her purse, her phone rang. She took it out and saw that it was Blake calling.
âHello?â she answered as she walked down the stairs. âDo you need me for something, Mr. Ford?â
She was going to start calling him Mr. Ford now.
Blake frowned on the other end of the line. âWhy are you calling me Mr. Ford?â
âI think itâs a good form of address.â With that, she fell silent, waiting for him to say something.
âDo you have time tonight?â he asked.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âLetâs have dinner tonight.â Blake placed a purse on the table.
This purse was the one that Yasmin had wanted before. There were limited quantities globally, and
each cost several million dollars.
Since Yasmin had been feeling down, he thought that gifting her a purse would satisfy her.
âI canât,â Yasmin said, declining his invitation. Although she was curious why he was suddenly
inviting her to dinner, she didnât want to spend time with him alone anymore. âI have something on
tonight.â
âLike what?â
As far as Blake knew, Yasminâs social life was dull. If she was not at the studio, she was at home.
Further, she only had one friend, which was Eunice.

âI just have something on,â Yasmin said.
She spoke vaguely without saying what it was and then hung up.
Blake frowned.
Yasmin got her car keys and drove to the Maple Tower. Just as she was about to reach the
restaurant, someone began tailgating her.
As she was driving, she heard a loud bang from behind. The collision sent her lurching forward, and
her arm slammed against the steering wheel. It hurt so badly that tears sprang to her eyes.
She looked behind her.
Two burly men got down from the car that hit her. They were clearly drunk and rushed to Yasminâs
door to cause trouble..
Frightened, Yasmin locked the car doors.
âGet down!â The two men had drunk too much. They hammered on her door like madmen.
Yasminâs face was as white as a sheet. There were people who acted like this even in broad
daylight?
She took out her phone to call the police.
At that moment, her phone rang. She answered the call, and the callerâs melodious voice reached
her ears.
âMs. Starr, Iâm already at the Maple Tower. Are you on the way?â His voice sounded like music to
her ears.
Before she could say anything, the two burly men yelled, âBitch, get down! Donât think that Iâm
scared of you just because you have some money. Who knows what dirty things you did to get that
money?â
When Mr. Burke heard those harsh words, he asked quietly, âMs. Starr, are you
you in trouble?â
âIâm sorry, Mr. Burke. I was being tailgated. These two seemed to have had too much to drink. They
canât think straight, and they keep shouting at me. Iâm going to call the police first. I might not be
able to make it tonight.â
âMs. Starr, where are you now?â Mr. Burke asked.
Yasmin surveyed her surroundings while the two men were still screaming at her. She
spotted Maple Tower not too far ahead and said, âIâm just around the corner from the restaurant,
near the convenience store.â
âWait there and keep the doors locked. Donât get down no matter what.â
