Blake didnât respond to Yasminâs words. He only said, âJust keep yourself in check, Mrs. Ford. No
one will pressure you.â
Yasmin smiled. âBut I donât want to be Mrs. Ford.â
Blakeâs brows furrowed.
The two gazed at one another for some time in the dark.
Blakeâs gaze was intense.
For some reason, Yasmin felt like Blake was actually considerate of her. So she asked, âCan I ask
you a question, Mr. B?â
âWhat is it?â
âIf you had a chance to, would you end things with Giselle?â This was Yasminâs final plea.
Blake was silent for some time before he said, âNo.â
Yasmin smiled, mocking herself. âThen things wonât change. You donât need to question how I want
to live my life from now on.â
She might not be able to divorce him, but she couldnât love him anymore.
Maybe Blake was reluctant to let Yasmin go. That didnât stem from love but from habit. Blake had
gotten used to his pretty, obedient little plaything in bed. Who wouldnât be reluctant to let that go?
âI told you, I donât agree to the divorce.â Blake gazed sternly at Yasmin.
Yasmin pried his hand away, her eyes dull. âI know. Do you want to torment me? Then keep at it.
Just please let me go whenever you finally get bored of doing it.â
She then turned around to sleep.
Blake saw how Yasmin was curled up, seemingly helpless. He wanted to hold her in his arms. But
his phone then rang.
It was from Giselle.
Blake answered the call. It was Erik who spoke from the other end of the call, âGiselle accidentally
fell at the club earlier, Blakeâ¦â
Blakeâs expression had grown cold even before Erik finished speaking. âIs the baby alright?â âWe
donât know for sure yet. Joelâs already sent her to the hospital. Hurry up and come over!
Blake eyed Yasmin briefly, his expression serious. In the end, he still abandoned Yasmin, put on his
coat, and left.
Yasmin lay on the bed alone. She had heard how anxious Blake was earlier.
ke was so worried about Giselle and his baby.
Blake
Yasmin sighed, coming to terms with the fact that she couldnât overestimate herself
anymore.
The next morning, Yasmin turned around to find the spot beside her cool to the touch. Blake hadnât
returned the entire night.
Yasmin was upset for a couple of seconds before she let go of the feeling.
She wasnât upset.
She had won 2 million dollars last night and paid back what she owed to Blake. From now on,
Yasmin wasnât indebted to him anymore. She could freely do what she wanted and be herself.
Yasmin went downstairs.
Arthur had gone fishing, so there was no one else in the living room.
Yasmin packed her things, preparing to leave. She bumped into Annalise right at the front door.
Annalise had her own place to live in, so she never usually stayed in Ford Residence.
Annalise was on a call in the doorway. Her eyes brightened as if she heard some wonderful news.
âReally?â
The caller spoke some more on the other end of the line. Annalise then smiled and said,â Thank you
so much. Iâll visit you soon.â
Yasmin was about to turn back after seeing Annalise when the latter noticed her.
âYasmin,â Annalise called.
Yasmin turned around to greet her with a smile. âAnna.â
âAre you going back to Oak Garden?â Annalise asked her.
âMhm.â
âWhereâs Blake?â
âHe hasnât come back since going out last night,â Yasmin answered truthfully.
Annalise said nothing about that. âGet in my car. Iâll have my driver send you back.â
Yasmin climbed into Annaliseâs car, with Annalise in the seat beside her.
Yasmin didnât dare look at her phone, so she sat silently with her motherâinâlaw in the car, feeling
uncomfortable.
âI heard that woman Blake fools around with is pregnant, Yasmin,â Annalise said all of a sudden.
