Yasmin asked, âHow am I not fit for him?â
Blake turned around. His expression was cold. âYour family is bankrupt, and youâre penniless. Who
would you be a good fit for?â
Yasminâs pride was wounded. But she couldnât deny that Blakeâs words were true.
She wasnât fit to be with Blake or Ivan. She had never desired to, either. All she wanted was to live
a proper life and pursue her dreams.
âCat got your tongue?â Blake asked again when Yasmin grew silent.
Yasmin pursed her lips. âThereâs nothing for me to say. Youâre all respectable people in high society.
Iâm just a lowly commoner who doesnât deserve any of you.â
She then got up to take a walk in the courtyard.
When she opened the door, Annalise was standing outside. âHereâs the herbal brew, Yasmin. Drink
up while itâs hot.â
Yasmin wanted to vomit at the sight of the herbal brew.
But with Annaliseâs eyes on her, she had no choice but to take the bowl of dark brew back into the
room.
âIâll watch you drink it, Yasmin,â Annalise said by the doorway.
Yasmin stiffened briefly. Knowing she wouldnât be able to escape, she raised the bowl to her lips.
Blakeâs brows furrowed. He went over to take the bowl and poured it into the trash can.
Annalise was stunned. âWhat are you doing, Blake? I spent so long preparing that.â
Blake put on a shirt and said faintly, âThe herbs havenât taken effect even after so long. There must
be something wrong with it. Itâs better not to continue drinking it. It might even harm Yasminâs body
before she could even get pregnant.â
Annalise thought this reasonable. Yasmin had drunk the herbal brew for three months, but there
were still no results.
Annalise hummed quietly. âMaybe the herb blend isnât right. Iâll go ask the doctor tomorrow.
âWhy donât you get some rest first?â Blake suggested. He then called one of the servants to
come by.
The servant helped Annalise back to her room. Only then did she stop talking about the
herbs.
Yasmin sat dully at the head of the bed, thinking about how Annalise always urged her to get
pregnant every time she visited. Yasmin resolved not to visit here anymore.
Blake finished dressing up while Yasmin remained silent. He wore suits every single day. Today, he
had on a long suit jacket. It made his tall figure look especially attractive.
âAre you going out?â Yasmin asked. Was he dressed so handsomely because he was meeting with
Giselle?
âAre you coming with?â Blake asked.
âWhere to?â Yasmin wasnât going to go along if he was seeing Giselle.
âJoel asked me out for drinks. Iâm going to go have a few with them.â
Yasmin blinked for a moment. Oh, so Blake wasnât going on a date.
She stood up. âIâll join you.â
Yasmin feared the Ford Residence. She didnât want to stay here a minute longer lest Annalise
comes looking for her again.
Blake held Yasminâs hand and walked out the door.
Yasmin was confused. When both of them entered the elevator, she looked at Blake.
Why was he holding her hand?
Blake sensed her gaze and asked, âWhat are you staring at me for?â
âNothing.â Yasmin looked away. Maybe it was just an instinctive gesture.
Blake got a phone call from work on the car. He conversed in a foreign language over the call.
Yasmin sat beside him, listening to his low voice. She cast him occasional looks.
Blake was a fine man, unlike many of those young and rich heirs. He was serious about his career
and didnât fool around with women.
Yet he didnât love Yasmin.
The two reached the Nightshade Club in half an hour.
Blakeâs friends were all gathered in a private room. They were surprised to see Blake had brought
Yasmin along.
âWhoâs the chick? Is she Blakeâs new girlfriend? Sheâs pretty,â someone said, oblivious to the
situation.
Blake had married Yasmin in secret. Not many people had seen her before.
