âOkay.â Yasmin went to do as told.
Everyone circled the dining table. Neil and his family watched as Yasmin set the table. They could
tell that Annalise didnât like her. It was why she would tell Yasmin to do things that the maids were
supposed to do. It led to the rest of the family disrespecting her.
Yolanda Lowe, Neilâs wife, smiled and said, âYasminâs so obedient, Anna. She does
everything you tell her to do.â
Annalise smiled faintly. âThatâs about her only strength. Sheâs obedient and sensible.â
âOh, that reminds me. Has there been any news of a pregnancy on Yasminâs end yet? She and
Blake have already been married for two years, right?â Yolanda asked on purpose. She was
delighted that her daughterâinâlaw had recently gotten pregnant.
Her words struck Annaliseâs sore spot. Still, she smiled and said, âOh, I couldnât and wouldnât stick
my nose into these youngstersâ business. Besides, Blake is so busy all the time.
âHeâs always flying here and there for work, unlike Zachary. Your Zachary doesnât need to go to
work, does he? Itâs no wonder he has time to start a family.â
Her simple counterattack made Yolandaâs expression darken. She knew Annalise was insinuating
that her son, Zachary Ford, was useless.
Meanwhile, Yasmin quietly served everyoneâs broth. Yoland and Annalise would always be at each
otherâs throats when they were together.
Two years ago, Blake had thoroughly defeated Neil to gain control of Windmere Group. From then
on, every family gathering consisted of Neil and his family saying things that dripped with acid.
Yasmin was already used to it.
Yolanda looked upset at being snubbed. She nudged Roxy. The latter immediately caught her drift
and said to Yasmin with a smile, âGet me a spoon, Yasmin.â
These were things that the maids were for, but the Ford family loved ordering Yasmin. around
instead. All they wanted to do was humiliate her.
Yasmin was used to it. She was about to turn to get the spoon when Blake helped Arthur into the
dining hall. He said, âYou donât need to do anything. Let her get it herself.â
Roxy was taken aback. Then, she said, âI was just asking Yasmin for a small favor, Blake. Itâs not a
big deal.â
âLet me ask you for a small favor, too, then. Grandpa and I were having a game of chess in the
garden. Itâs still out there. Go and clean it up.â Blake looked at her. His gaze was icy and terrifying. It
made a chill run down Roxyâs spine.
Still, she refused to budge. She muttered, âIâm having my meal, Blake!â
âYou can continue with it after youâre done cleaning and tidying up.â Blake glanced at Malcolm, who
walked over to Roxy and tugged her to her feet.
Roxy was stunned. âMalcolm?â
He said, âMr. Ford is only asking you for a small favor, Ms. Roxy.â
The others at the table didnât dare to make a sound. Roxy glanced at Yolanda. The latter shook her
head, indicating that she shouldnât offend Blake.
Roxy had no choice but to head to the garden. She snapped, âFine, then. Iâll do it!â
Malcolm took her away.
Yasmin was surprised by this. Blake had helped her again. It seemed like he was standing up for
her whenever others tried to bully her. Maybe he just didnât want Neil and his family to have the
upper hand.
Blake helped Arthur into his seat. Then, he walked over to Yasmin and held her hand as they took
their seats. He said, âYou can ignore everyone who tries to order you around in the future. Youâre
my wife and the lady of the Ford family. Feel free to kick out anyone who dares to disrespect you.â
As words woNG!
at Yolanda. She looked awkward as she scooped some food onto Yasminâs plate. âDonât be mad at
Roxy, Yasmin. She wasnât ordering you around. She was just calling out to you out of habit. It
shows how much she likes and relies on you.â
âIs that so? Weâll remember to âlike and relyâ on you in the future, Aunt Yolanda,â Blake said with a
smile.
