âCabbage is pretty tasty, too. Itâs crunchy and sweet. Remember to try some when you have the
time, Mrs. Ford. Also, you have to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
âStick to a proper schedule. Donât burn the midnight oil all the time.â Malcolm knew Yasmin was a
design student who constantly stayed up late to get her drafts done. This was why he was
reminding her.
Yasmin was surprised by his thoughtfulness. She smiled and said, âI didnât expect you to be so
considerate and detailâoriented when you look like a tough guy. I bet your girlfriendâs really happy
to be with you.â
âYou jest, Mrs. Ford. Iâm still single.â
âWhat? How can that be? Youâre pretty handsome, and youâre almost six feet tall. Besides, you
must be well paid for being a presidentâs special assistant. How can you not have a girlfriend?â
Malcolm wanted to tell her that he never got a break as Blakeâs assistant. He had to be on standby
24/7. It would be a miracle if he could squeeze out time for a girlfriend. But before he could get the
words out, Blake glared at him. âMalcolm!â
Malcolm turned to look at him. âYes, sir! Do you need anything?â
Blake didnât look too pleased as his gaze traveled between Malcolm and Yasmin. âShut up. I
want to rest.
âYes, sir.â Malcolm didnât dare to say anything else.
Blake shut his eyes. Yasmin thought he was being anal and couldnât help muttering, âIt must be
exhausting to work for youâyour staff isnât even allowed to chat a bit while on duty! Youâre a
monster!â
Blakeâs eyes flew open. He glared at her. âItâs your own fault for talking about useless stuff.â
âHow is that useless?â
âYou kept trying to pry into Malcolmâs personal life when chatting with him. Donât you think you were
being rude?â Blake snorted.
Yasminâs jaw dropped. âI was just chatting like a normal person!â
Malcolm wanted to tell them to stop arguing. He wasnât offended. But he didnât have the
much oral pople ask how mish others get paid ant whether they have
significant others in a regolar
You even complimentest him for beng passare and decat orented onât that something only
scheming women would say
Oh, so he knew what scheming women usually said?
Yasmin snored. âNo one is better at being scheming than your woman.â
Het impression of Giselle had gone down the drain after seeing what the latter was capable
âWhat, are you jealous?â Blake looked at her.
Yasmin scoffed. âHal Youâre thinking too highly of yourself. How narcissistic of you.â
Blakeâs expression darkened. He didnât say anything else. The atmosphere grew tense again.
Malcolm sighed to himself. Heâd started a conversation in hopes of easing the tension between
Blake and Yasmin. Who wouldâve known that things would only get worse? He drove along
woefully.
Half an hour later, the RollsâRoyce Cullinan glided into Ford Residence. Yasmin opened the door
to get out, but Blake grabbed her. She was caught off guard and crashed against his hard chest.
Her nose hurt from the impact. She rubbed it. She looked displeased as she snapped, âWhat are
you doing?â
âJust wait.â Blake grabbed a box from the backseat and opened it to reveal a gorgeous pink
diamond necklace.
As a jewelry designer, Yasmin only needed to glance at it to know it wasnât cheap. âWhy are you
giving me this?
âAs the wife of Windmere Groupâs president, you have to be dressed for the occasion, especially
since this is a family gathering. Otherwise, the others will think Iâm mistreating you.â Blake scoffed.
Yasmin was rendered speechless. So, that was how it was. He was doing all this for the sake of his
ego as a companyâs president. She took a deep breath and waited for him to put the necklace on for
her.
Blake took the necklace from the box. The light brush of his fingers against her neck made it feel
like soft electric bolts were shooting through her.
She felt unsettled and curled her fingers. âAre you done?â
