Stuart sighed. âBlakeâs the only man in Stanton City who can protect you. Iâve made my fair share of
enemies. Theyâre only letting you off the hook because of Blake. Iâm worried that youâll be in danger
if you guys get divorced. Now that Iâm stuck here, I canât protect you.
Yasmin looked distressed. Stuart continued, âI know youâre upset, Yaz, but Blake can protect you. If
he doesnât ask for a divorce, you should stay in this marriage.
âThe people out there wonât dare to lay a hand on you as long as youâre Mrs. Ford. You can get
divorced once Iâm out of here. Then, Iâll be able to protect you again.â
Yasmin was unwilling to do as he said, but she didnât want him to worry while still in prison.
Stuart said, âI know what youâre thinking, Yaz. Youâre probably depressed from being stuck in a
loveless marriage, but life isnât just about being happy.
âCompared to happiness, being alive is more important. Now that Iâm behind bars, I canât protect
you out there. My only hope is that you stay alive. Itâs fine if he doesnât love you doesnât come
homeâthink of it as you two already being divorced.
and
âLower your expectations for him. Let him live his life while you live yours. Treat him like heâs a
stranger. We can talk about the future once Iâm out of here, okay?â
Yasmin was the only family Stuart had left, and she was gorgeous. He genuinely worried about her
future.
She could understand what he meant. He was afraid she would be taken advantage of. He feared
she would fall under someoneâs control and be nothing more than a plaything.
With Blake, the worstâcase scenario was that he didnât love her. But if she were to get divorced,
who knew how many other men would come knocking on her door?
Yasmin knew where Stuart was coming from. After speaking to him, she no longer entertained the
thought of getting a divorce. Sometimes, life just wasnât hers to control. She would just pretend like
she was already divorced. She could take this chance to prematurely get used to being single.
Yasmin dried her tears as she walked out of the prison. Then, she heard someone honk at her. She
looked up to see a RollsâRoyce Cullinan parked across the road.
Had Blake come to her after coaxing Giselle?
A wave of sorrow washed over her. She turned and walked away. Even if they couldnât get
377
divorced, she didnât want to have anything to do with him anymore. It was as Stuart had said
she would treat Blake like he was a stranger.
Blakeâs expression turned icy when he saw Yasmin walk away without a word. He got out of the car
and caught up with her in a few strides. âYasmin!â
She ignored him. Heâd specially made the trip there. He didnât even know why. Maybe it was
because sheâd cried so heartbreakingly last night when talking about wanting to see Stuart. The
whole day today, heâd been distracted. Heâd subconsciously told Malcolm to take him to the prison.
IN
âWhy are you crying?â Blake grabbed Yasminâs hand and made her turn around when he noticed
her tears.
âItâs none of your business,â she said dully.
Blakeâs expression darkened further. âGrandpa called me last night and told us to drop by Ford
Residence tonight.â
In truth, he couldâve just called her to inform her of this. But for some reason, heâd felt
obligated to come all the way.
Yasmin said coolly, âYou can bring Giselle with you.â
Blakeâs mother didnât like her. She didnât want to push her buttons. When Yasmin and Blake got
married, Arthur had been the only one whoâd been relatively happy. The rest of the Ford family had
scorned her.
This was especially true in the case of Blakeâs mother. She felt that her son had been tricked. He
couldâve married the daughter of a prominent family, but Stuart had tricked him into marrying the
daughter of a bankrupt man. Sheâd been upset about their marriage since.
That was why Yasmin would never step foot in Ford Residence even if she and Blake didnât divorce.
She would hand the opportunity to anyone who wanted it.
âIt doesnât have much to do with you, but it has everything to do with your best friend.â Blake looked
at her pointedly.
