around to ask Blake
not to go. She tried and failed to suppress it. Finally, she turned
around. âMr. B-â

behind with a single phone call from Giselle, why was she still holding out hope?
After all, heâd loved Giselle for a whole decade.
In this moment, Yasmin truly gave up. She wiped her tears and ran upstairs. Then, she packed her
stuff and left.
Blake drove to the hospital. When he arrived, he saw Giselle sitting on the bed and rubbing her
belly. She looked fragile. When she saw him, she smiled. Her eyes were filled with love as she said,
âYouâre here, Blake.â
He glanced at her co olly. âDoes your belly still hurt?â
He sat before her, as cold and distant as heâd always been. Giselle couldnât help feeling that he was
out of her reach. She said softly, âNo.â
âWhat did the doctor say?â
âHe said that the baby mightâve been anxious because I had coffee in the afternoon.â
âRemember not to have coffee anymore,â Blake said.
âOkay.â Giselle lowered her head, looking obedient. She thought Blake would caress her. head, but
he didnât.
He got up after a short while. âYou get some rest. Iâm going to talk to the doctor.â
Blake went to the deanâs office. When he stepped inside, he saw a man in a doctorâs coat sitting on

Blake sat down and sipped his coffee before asking, âHowâs the baby?â
âEverythingâs fine. Thereâs nothing to worry about.â
âGood.â Blakeâs eyes were devoid of emotion. He lit a cigarette and took a drag, blowing out. the
smoke through his nose. âHow long more until sheâs due?â
âSheâs only in her first trimester. Itâs going to take at least half a year.â
Blake didnât say anything else. The smoke masked his emotions.
Joel asked, âWhy are you treating her so well, really? Is the baby really yours? That canât be. You
didnât leave the country three months ago. If weâre following that timeline, the baby canât be yours.â
Blake didnât answer the question. Instead, he said plainly, âKeep an eye on her. You have to make
sure the baby is born safely.â
âWhat are you getting out of this?â Joel was even more confused now. âThe baby isnât even yours,
yet youâre allowing her to spread rumors about you and her. Sheâs benefiting from your reputation.
Arenât you afraid of upsetting your wife?â
âI donât care what she does. I just want the baby to be born safely.â Blake only cared about the
outcome.
Joel was finding it harder and harder to read him. He shook his head. âWhatever. Donât regret it
when your wife dumps you.â
Blake didnât say anything. His eyes were dark. He left after smoking half a cigarette. Outside, he
made a phone call. âSend some supplements to Giselle.â
Giselle received the supplements half an hour later. She was pleasantly surprised as she asked
Malcolm, âWhereâs Blake?â
âMr. Fordâs already gone back to the company,â Malcolm answered.
The smile in Giselleâs eyes faded. She asked softly, âIs he always this busy?â
âYes. Mr. Ford has to manage Windmere Group, so heâs kept busy every day. Youâll have to
forgive him for not having time for you, Ms. OâShea.â
Giselle forced a smile as she said tenderly, âOf course I will.â
