Chapter 24
After scrutinizing Yasmin for a while, Blake said, âYou got what you deserved.â
This set Yasmin alight. âI got attacked for nothing, and you think I deserved it?â
âYou deserved it because you didnât even think about retaliating despite them ganging up on you.â
Yasmin was taken aback. âI did fight back. There were just too many of them. Besides, theyâre all
socialites and daughters of affluent families. Iâm a nobody. How could I go against them?â
âJust go all out. Iâd like to see whether any of them would dare to come after you.â
This stunned Yasmin into silence. What did Blake mean by that? Would he protect her? She
couldnât understand what he meant, so she looked at him.
Blakeâs face was devoid of emotion. He tilted her head up and applied some ointment on her face.
The cooling sensation of it soothed the sting from the slaps.
Yasmin was finding him harder and harder to read. He kept saying that he despised her and the
Starr family, but he actually treated her pretty well. In truth, heâd been quite gentle with her for some
time after theyâd married.
Around half a year after theyâd married, Yasmin was no longer satisfied with them just being a
married couple on paper. To change that, sheâd taken to hiding by the staircase and waiting for him.
As soon as he appeared, she would pop her head out and say sweetly, âMr. B!
Then, Blake would say coldly, âDonât call me that.â
Yasmin would beam at him. âGot it, Mr. B!â
She always promised to change but never followed through. She would cling to him and call him Mr.
B all the time.
As time passed, Blake would stop bothering to correct her. When heâd seen that she didnât have
many clothes, heâd even given her his supplementary card so she could get whatever she wanted.
Yasmin had been delighted. âThank you, Mr. B!â
Her face had been red, and her eyes had been wide with delight as she looked at him with a

mixture of shyness and boldness. Blake had reprimanded her in a low voice, saying, âDonât look at
me like that.â
Despite the countless occasions that Blake had told her off, Yasmin had never given up. She would
always cling to him. Later, sheâd even seduced him and dressed skimpily on purpose.
Blake had been a tough cookie, though. No matter what Yasmin did to seduce him, he would.
remain composed. But everything changed the night sheâd begged him to buy the villa at Newphoria
Bay. That had been Blakeâs first time accepting her. From then on, heâd treated her pretty well.
Amidst Yasminâs reverie, someoneâs camera flashed in her face.
âDid you see that? Thatâs Blake Ford, the president of Windmere Group!â
âThereâs a woman in his car!â
âShe doesnât look like Giselle OâShea. Hurry up and get a photo of them. This is a big scoop!â
Yasmin was shocked when she heard these words. She subconsciously said, âMr. B!â
Blake grunted in acknowledgment, then pulled her into his arms and crouched below the seat.
âDrive faster, Malcolm.â
âYes, sir!â The car sped up.
Yasmin was still afraid and didnât dare to look up from Blakeâs arms. âHave we shaken them off?â
âNo, theyâre still following us. Donât move.â Blake pressed her head to his chest.
Yasmin kept her head bowed. She couldnât help feeling uneasy, though. Blake was close enough to
her that she could feel his warm breath fan over her neck. His arm was also tightly wrapped around
her waist. The weirdest thing about all this was that his body was heating up.
Yasmin subconsciously tensed. She twitched a little. âAre we in the clear yet?â
âNo.â Blakeâs voice was deep and ho ar se. As the car sped forward, he would occasionally bump
into her as the car passed over some potholes. It made Yasminâs face turn crimson.
âAre the pap ara zzi gone yet?â Sweat started to bead on Yasminâs dainty nose. She felt flustered. 2
They were in such an amorous position now.
