Chapter 22
âRoxyâ¦â Blake said menacingly.
Roxyâs heart raced with fear, but she refused to back down. Her eyes were red as she complained,
âShe hit me first, Blake.â
âSo youâre saying she was the first to attack a group of people?â Blake asked coldly.
This took Yasmin aback. She didnât expect him to speak up for her. It was a surprise.
âN-Noâ¦â Roxy was pale. She lied, âItâs because she stole my man!â
âAnd who would that be?â
âIvan Burke.â He wasnât around, anyway, so Roxy went wild with her lies. Sheâd had a crush on Ivan
for the longest time and already thought of him as hers.
Blakeâs gaze was mocking. He said bluntly, âWould he be interested in someone like you?â
âWhatâs wrong with me?â
âYouâre obnoxious and arrogant. Thereâs nothing good about you.â
Roxy was stunned into silence. She had nothing to say in retort.
Yasmin smirked at this. At least Blake knew his cousin well enough-indeed, she was idiot without
any redeeming qualities. There was nothing about her that would make someone fall for her.

âYouâre being so mean, Blake!â Roxy started crying when she couldnât think of anything to say. Her
eyes were red as she wailed.
Just then, Giselle came over. âWhatâs happening?â
Her tone was gentle and cajoling. When she saw Roxy crying, she handed the latter some tissues.
âWhy are you crying, Roxy?â
Roxy looked like sheâd seen her savior. As she sobbed, she said, âGiselle, you have to help
me.â
âWhatâs going on?â
âThis sl ut tried to latch onto Ivan!â Roxy pointed at Yasmin.
At that, Giselle said sternly, âYouâre in the wrong here, Roxy. No matter what, you shouldnât

have resorted to violence. Apologize to Yasmin.â
Roxy refused. âAre you speaking up for this bi tch as well, Giselle? If not for her father tricking
Blake, how could he have married her?â
Giselle was silent for a moment. Then, she said understandingly, âLetâs not talk about that right now.
Apologize to Yasmin, or I wonât be able to help you if Blake really gets mad.â
âShe slapped me twice!â
âJust apologize,â Giselle coaxed.
Only then did Roxy reluctantly turn to Yasmin and snarl, âSorry!â
Yasmin hadnât expected her to apologize properly, anyway. She turned to leave.
Blake said, âAre those all the manners you have?â
Yasmin thought he was talking to her and stiffened. She turned back around. Blakeâs gaze was on
Roxy. His eyes were devoid of emotion. âIf thatâs how your father taught you to apologize to
someone, I donât mind giving you a personal lesson on manners.â
Roxy trembled. All the backbone in the world meant nothing at this moment. She bowed her head
and said to Yasmin, âIâm sorry, Yasmin. I know I was wrong. Please, forgive me.â
Yasmin didnât expect Blake to make Roxy give in with a simple sentence. She was surprised, but
there was also some other emotion mixed in with it. She knew one thing, though-she couldnât allow
herself to be moved anymore.
âSince Roxy has already apologized, letâs leave this matter at that, Blake. Iâll take Yasmin to the
hospital to check on her face so that weâre sure there wonât be any scars. What do you think?â
Giselle walked over to Blake, looking like the elegant lady of a household.
Roxy looked at her gratefully. In her eyes, Giselle was the perfect example of a wife and
matriarch.
Yasmin sneered to herself. She could see it now. Giselle was good at putting on an act and even
better at mind games than Yasmin had expected.
Blake was about to say something when Yasmin interjected, âI donât need to go to a hospital. Just
give me some money to pay for the medical bill.â
