Chapter 19
Yasmin could feel her eyelids twitching. G Yasmin could feel her eyelids twitching. Giselleâs words
gave her a bit chy vibe. She looked
elegant and classy on the surface, but her words were carefully picked to sow discord. She wasnât
as simple as she seemed.
Sure enough, Blakeâs expression darkened at Giselleâs words. He looked at Yasmin coldly as if
wanting to shoot her with his gaze. Yasmin didnât dare to meet his eyes.
âWhy are you guys still standing around here? The showâs about to start. Letâs all take our seats.â
Ivan was back.
Yasmin sighed in relief. She moved to stand behind Ivan, using him to block Blakeâs gaze.
âBlake, Yasmin came here with Mr. Burke.â Giselle just had to mention it.
Blake frowned. Why was Yasmin getting involved with NAS Group? With her abilities, there was no
way she could meet NAS Groupâs standards. She didnât even have a proper résumé. Giselle
seemed to be able to read his mind. She said in a small voice, âYasminâs fresh out of college, so
sheâs probably not qualified to work with NAS Group. Ivan must like her to give her special
consideration. I think I saw a little something in the way he looked at her earlier.â Blakeâs expression
was downright murderous now. He watched Yasmin. The latter had just sat down when she met
Blakeâs gaze. It was icy.
Yasmin still didnât dare to meet his gaze. She pretended not to see it and lowered her gaze.
âDo you know him?â Ivan, who sat beside her, asked.
After a moment of silence, she shook her head. âNo.â
âHeâs the president of Windmere Group, Blake Ford. Rumor has it that he doesnât have the best
temper. offend him.â
You should steer clear of him so you don
âAlright,â Yasmin said.
Blake had already gone to his seat, which was right in the middle of the room. The presidents of
other companies tried to curry favor with him as they handed him their business cards in hopes that
they could somehow build a relationship with him.
Blake sat there, looking cool and distant. The other presidents were disappointed by this and
returned to their seat
to watch the fashion show. But even if he didnât speak, there was no overlooking his presence.

Yasinin could vaguely sense his gaze on her, which distracted her from everything else until the
melodic strands of a plano song rang out.
Giselle sat before a piano as tendrils of smoke surrounded her. She looked like a goddess whoâd
descended from the heavens in her white gown. Everyone around them was complimenting her.
âWow, sheâs gorgeous.â
âEveryone seems to be complimenting Giselle,â Ivan suddenly said as he turned to glance at
Yasmin.
âYeah.â She nodded. She didnât dare to say anything against Giselle since everyone seemed to
adore her. Instead, she joined them and said a few nice things.
âCan you sense Mr. Ford looking in this direction now and then?â
Yasmin nodded. It was hard not to sense it when Blakeâs gaze was so sharp. âYeah, I think so.
âI should probably acknowledge it.â Ivan gave Blake a friendly smile. Blake nodded co olly in
return.
Yasmin focused on the fashion show as she told herself not to let Blake get to her. She also
reminded herself not to look in his direction.
Ivan smiled and said, âEither Mr. Ford hates me, or he likes you.â
Yasminâs eyelids twitched. Blake liked her? How was that possible? Heâd personally admitted that
he would never fall for her. Besides, heâd gotten Giselle pregnant. How would that explain him
âlikingâ her?
She smiled bitterly at the thought of Giselleâs baby. âThat canât be. Heâs probably just in a bad mood.
Or worse, he has a resting bi tch face. Whatever it is, he canât possibly like me.â
âAre you sure about that?â Ivan looked at her. His gaze was inexplicably amused.
Yasmin nodded. âYeah.â
Ivan couldnât help laughing. âYouâre different from all the other women I know. Every one of them
would die to have the president of a company interested in them, yet youâre the opposite.â
âI know my place.â Sheâd wasted more than 700 days and nights trying to win Blakeâs heart. Now
that sheâd failed, she knew better than to continue holding out hope.
