akito pov // first person

I stare at the screen of my phone blankly. My head is on Toya's chest, something we both normalise with each other.

I can feel his gentle breaths against my head. After a minute, I feel them slow down to a more even pace.

I look up and see that he's asleep, his eyes closed with his hand limp down by his side. I take a second to just watch him, to study his still face.

It's so pretty. I never really just.. look at him, but i can't help it. His jawline, hair, cheeks- everything about him is just perfect.

I feel something inside of my stomach- like it's doing some kind of gymnastics move. Butterflies, I'm sure of it. My face heats up. What the fuck am I feeling?

I sigh and look back down as I put my phone on my side table. I rest my head back down on his torso area, and doze off into sleep.

He had agreed to hang out at my house after school, because I noticed how he looked pretty tired.

Well in all honesty, I didn't let him refuse. I forced him to stay around mine so I could make sure he got the sleep I'm convinced he's lacking.

I lift my head drowsily half way through the night as I realise I must've woken up from a dream.

Toya is still underneath me. I can feel his hot breath against my face, touching my eyelids, brushing over my cheeks and lips.

I jump up when I realise how close we were, surprised and confused. What the hell am I doing?

I blink, freezing completely as I sink back into a trance. He smells so sweet. He looks so peaceful.

"God dammit." I rub both my eyes with one hand, desperately trying to usher the thoughts ringing around my head.

I know that sleeping is useless now. Once I'm awake, I'll never go back.

toya pov // first person

I'm startled awake by the alarm Akito set last night for school.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I did it too loud." Akito says sympathetically as he itches the back of his head.

"No, that's okay. My alarm manages to scare the shit out of me every single day." I reply, laughing a little. I receive a smile from Akito too.

My phone pings and I take it off the side to see what it was. I open my phone instantly as I see the name I would have wanted to see most.

Hana messaged me.

H(morning toya- how'd you sleep?)

T(i slept good thanks wbu?)

H(see you in school?)

It leaves me with a smile.

"Ohhhh.. who you messaging?" Akito leans forward to peek over at my messages.

"Erm..." I blush a little, putting my phone down.

"Whooo?" Akito nags, smiling.

"My girlfriend." I say quietly, looking at him. I notice that his face drops, his bright eye sparks burning out in a matter of seconds.

He brightens back up a second later as he smiles at me and gets off of the bed, away from next to me. He leaves a cold space where he used to be seconds before.

"How come I never knew?" He asked, rolling his eyes. He sounds dull? Completely different to what he did a moment ago.

I frown at him, trying to read his true expression. He seems to block it off and shove it away with a smile. I'm still trying to crack the code of his face, but I just can't see what he's thinking.

"Hm? We got together yesterday, I'm sorry. You looked really tired, so I never said anything. I thought I'd say today." I say evenly. It's fair, is it not?

"Ohhh, Yeah fair enough then." Akito laughs, nodding at me. Thank god.

He collects his things together and goes into his en suite to get changed. My clothes are placed at the base of the bed. I take my current ones off and put the school uniform on.

Akito walks out, closing the door behind him. He changes his dangly earrings to his usual two studs and hoop, touching up his bangs.

His uniform is scruffed up as usual. His tie looser than it should be, his shirt untucked with a jacket on that technically isn't allowed in school.

Mine is perfect. It always has been. Father says it's 'disrespectful to wear it any other way than what has been requested.'

I sigh and collect my bag together, my phone going into the inside pocket of my blazer.

"D'you want some food? I can just make you some toast." Akito said, breaking the comfortable silence we shared.

"Um, yeah. If it's alright?" I blink as i nod a little.

"I'm not in the royal family. You don't have to speak to me like I am." He smiles, tilting his eyebrows. Father says it's polite.

Father says a lot of things.

Akito takes me downstairs and puts bread into the toaster. Only one peice.

"Aren't you hungry?" I ask, confused as to why he wouldn't eat breakfast. It helps you keep your appetite till lunch, and you need it to be a good one for street singing.

"Eh? No, I'm okay. I don't eat breakfast." He smiles.

"But you don't eat lunch at school either." I watch his throat shift as he swallows in real time. What is happening?

"Dude drop it. I'm okay. If I wasn't I would've told you. Best buds, like always." He smiled and put butter on my toast, before i opened my mouth and he put it in there for me.

He put the knife in the sink and the butter back in the fridge, before he goes to leave.

"Akito?" His dad walks out of the front room.

"Oh, morning. Me and Toya are heading out for school." He said calmly.

"'Kay." His dad went back into the room he was in, and we walked out his front door together as i chewed and swallowed the last peice of crunchy toast.

I greet An as I walk into the school front entrance. Somebody jumps onto my back, arms linking around my neck. I laugh and look around, knowing that it was Hana.

"Hey, you alright?" I ask happily, hugging her as she does back.

"Better than ever." She smiled.

"What's your first lesson? I have spanish with your friend." She said.

"Who, Akito? Ah, I see. You should get along. I have maths." I smile at her.

"Okay! See you at break." she said joyfully. I turn around, to find Akito's presence missing. I shrug and walk to my lesson, brushing it off.

hey so this is my first ff on wattpad i was terrified to publish this 😭

i'm not entirely sure if i'll put toya's home state into it as most of it's going to focus on akito it's still all processing in my head but there will def be hints of it
