Chapter 4 of 23

Dinner for one!

I take my time walking back and forth in the living room. I try to think of ways to exit the house, but I didn't get much time to venture out passed the foyer, dinning room, or kitchen. And that stupid human-hating fanatic of a giantess, Veronica, screwed me over big time.

I shouldn't be surprised with how she treated me. That's how most giantesses are. All stuck up and selfish, acting like humans are the world's poison or something. That just pisses me off so much!

Three heavy thumps vibrate through the house in the wall. I look out one of the windows and see sleek, black high heels outside, waiting for me.

I walk to the door, completely forgetting that I had taken off my belt.

When trying to open the door, I nearly lose all the cool I have left when it doesn't open. All because of the stupid belt, collar, tracker thingy! By the gods, if I didn't have to deal with this thing in the first place then I'd have more time to find out where I can get out of here.

Once I have the belt, I'm able to open the door.

Samantha, wearing a long fluffled up black dress, is kneeling at my door. She's all dolled up with her hair curled, makeup done, and some red earrings to match her lipstick. She's...

"Stunning."

Samantha's half smile widens into a toothy grin. "You know, I should carry you around to boost my confidence more."

My mouth clamps shut. I didn't know it fell open in the first place.

I cross my arms and huff. "What do you want?"

"I'm just wondering if you'd like to have dinner with Dad and I." Samantha explains with giddiness. "He's been away for a while and I figured it'd be nice if you met him before his next business trip."

This sounds more like a personal dinner and I'm just here for the ride. On top of that, I don't want to meet another giant for the rest of the day. A girl can only take so much.

"I'm not really in the mood to be knocked around by another giant or ogled at like an exotic animal in a cage." I say.

Samantha sighs. "Okay... I'll tell him you say hi though?"

"Not even that."

Samantha, looking wounded, leaves the conversation at that. Clearly, she's not going to get much out of me for the rest of the night. Hell, she'll be lucky, if she gets me to leave the house.

I watch silently as she walks out of the room then head into my own house to make dinner. I should take inventory of what I can and can't take with me once leaving this hell-scape.

Looking through the cupboards, drawers, cabinets, I notice that there is a lot of food and cook ware for just one person. It gets me thinking on whether I should be sharing this place with someone.

Veronica did say something about an accident with a previous human.

I doubt Samantha would have boughten me though if her first human didn't die or runoff or whatever. But the thought of this mysterious human accident raises more questions for me.

The only thing it answers though is why Samantha is so hellbent on keeping me safe.

I find the instant noodles and get a pot of water boiling on the stove. I sit at the bar, waiting for my noodles to cook.

Gotta find a way out of here. I tell myself. There has to be a loop hole in the system.

Then the strangest thought crosses my mind.

Is it even worth escaping?

It's a good question. I basically have everything I need. A bed, privacy, I can cook my own food, watch tv, wander wherever I like. I have everything except my own freedom.

What's the point of a house if I need a tracking belt to let me leave? What's the point of wandering if I'm always being watched? This isn't true freedom.

I can't let the luxuries of this place fog up my true goals. True freedom is out there not in here.

The stove sizzles and smoke goes up in the air.

"Damn! My Noodles!" I hope out of the chair and grab the pot.

The handle scolding hot and burns my right hand. My dominate hand.

"Shit!"

I fumble to turn off the stove and turn on the water. I take a few deep breaths while letting my burn cool under the water then go scrounging around for a bandage.

After a few minutes of fumbling around in the kitchen, I get my hand patched up and I eat my over cooked noodles in silence.

After not being able in a kitchen for four years, I'd say my cooking hasn't improved. Luckily overcooked noodles won't kill me, but the burn I received is. It's also another setback that I'll have to handle. No pun intented.

After cleaning up, I begin to make a mental note of what I can take with me. A pot and pan, definitely taking as much stored food as I can. I'm going to need a lighter and maybe, just maybe, there's a water purifier around here that I can snag.

There's beans, rice, corn, greenbeans, fake potatoes! This is literally the jack pot for me!

I think I'm going to need another bag to carry all the things I need!

A yawn escapes my lips as a wave of tiredness overcomes me. The intensity of day is finally getting to me. I should get to bed soon.

I put my dishes in the wishwasher and walk up the stairs to get ready for bed. Then it hit me. I can take a warm shower for the first time in years. Just the thought of the shower gets me up the steps.

I pull out some running shorts, a shirt with a ty-dy design on it, and some underwear then enter the bathroom.

I have to find out how this girl knows my clothing size before leaving this place. I think to myself as I start the shower.

I strip and step into the shower. There's soap, shampoo, conditioner, a razer, and facial cream. Everything I need to feel fresh and clean.

Since it's my first shower in a long time, you know damn well I used up all that hot water. It had to have been an hour of soaking, scrubbing, and just simply relishing the moment.

I step out of the shower and reach for a towel to dry myself off. I try not to stare at my scar covered body in the mirror, but every now and then I feel my own fingers flowing over one.

After the quick pat down and wrapping my hair up, I get dressed for bed then brush my teeth.

Honestly I can't remember the last time I had something as good as this! I mean, sure all my previous owners gave me the basic needs, but nothing came close to this!

When laying down in bed, I melt, letting a saticfying sigh escape my lips. This family definitely spared no expense. I got to take this blanket with me when I leave this place.

I stare at the ceiling. Do I really need to leave? I have everything I need to survive.

I pop off the bed. But not everything I want!

Another sigh escapes my lips. It's for more aggressive this time.

Clearly I'm torn about what it is that I should do! I don't want to be here! I want my normal life back! I want to see my friends! My family! I can't live in a box for the rest of my life even if the amenities are nice.

What if this is the new normal?

"Then fuck that!" I tell myself.

I'm given one little speck of kindness and suddenly I fall head over heels for my new home?! Nah! I need to get out of here!

The click of a door opening breaks me from my mental delema. What catches my attention is the door slamming afterwards and a choked back whimper.

Samantha.

Huh. I wonder if dinner didn't go as planned?

"He didn't show..."

Well that answers my question.  Impectable timing honestly. Now I wonder if the magical beings of life will tell me how this girl got my bra size.

Yes, I'm still hung up about the fact that she knows my bra size. It's creepy and I want an answser to it!

The clicking of heels on wood going to tile tells me she's entered the bathroom. I make my way down the steps and walk to one of the front windows. The bathroom light is on and I see Samantha moving around.

Seconds later she comes out, makeup gone and her earrings off. She flicks her hair onto her shoulder and begin to unzip her dress. Suddenly, my brain shuts off.

She pulls the straps of her dress off her shoulders and-

NOPE!

I snap back to reality and turn around, refusing to let some girl with good looks control me like this.

Some drawers slide open and close, a closet door opening then shutting, the lights flick off, and once I hear the ruffling of a blanket and sheets, I know I can turn back around. The room has a warm hue to it with the desk lamp on next to Samantha's bed. I can't see much else.

Maybe you should check on her. My subconsious tells me.

Yeah, I'll do that! Right after I take an axe to the head!

"Sometimes we have to put aside our feelings in order to help others." My dad's words echoes in my head. "We might not like it, but the ability to comfort others is special. Don't waste that gift, Caesar."

I bite my lip out of anger and confusion.

Why?! Why is it so difficult to hate her? All she's been is a pain in my ass!

All she's been is nice! You're the one making things harder on yourself.

It's like my subconsious is actively going against me! How is that even possible, we're the same person! We should be able to think alike! GAHHH! I want to rip my hair out.

I slap my forehead and drag my hand down my face, clearly bothered by my moral dilemma! One part of me is thinking screw this chick and other part not so much.

Ah, screw it!

Mom and Dad would be pissed if I didn't help!

I grab the belt from the couch and wrap it around my waist then march out the front door, grumbling to myself about why I'm doing this and trying to find a reason to get out of it.

The door behind me shuts with a loud thump and I stomp over to the bed. The blanket at the corner of the bed is low enough for me leap and grab onto it. Searing pain shoots through my burned hand and up my arm.

"Gah!" I let go and examine my hand.

Great! I can't even climb up a bed! Guess it's time for plan B! Asking for help.

...

Nah.

I'm climbing this bed whether my hand likes it or not!

I leap and grab the blanket again. Pain shoots through my hand, but I push passed it and begins to climb. Fist full after fist full of blankets, I make my way to the top of the bed and roll the edge, onto safe ground.

I take a minute or two catch my breath and check my burn wound. It's sore and will get worse since I'm too stubborn to ask for help from a giant. I've already come to terms with the fact that my pride will get me killed. Should I be okay with that? No, but I don't have much else to live for.

After I catch my breathe, I make my way over to the giant lump under the sheets. More specific the mess of brown hair sprawled across the pillow.

It shouldn't be too hard to get her attention. Just call out her name when you get and-

The belt starts to beep again.

Right. The belt.

The beeping from Samantha's band catches her attention. She pauses it for a moment before slipping half her body off the bed to check under it. Her legs swing under the blanket creating a wave of white fluff coming towards me.

The interaction is so fast that I have no time to dip, dive, or dodge, and I'm sent rolling across the bed. Not far enough to knock me off of it though.

"O-oh, sorry!" Samantha groans out as she sits back up in the bed.

I sit up straight, seeing stars for a moment before getting pulled away from them. There's little time to process everything, not that it matters. Now I staring at Samantha's giant face.

"I didn't hurt you, did I?" She askes while staring my down with worried eyes.

"No, I'm fine." That doesn't stop her from check though. "Seriously! Samantha. Samantha! STOP!"

The giantess freezes, finally allowing me to adjust to the situation around me. The situation that I got myself in.

"Sorry," She mutters, setting me down on the other pillow.

While I dust myself off, Samantha taps on her screen a few times and the beeping stops. Shen then lays her head back down on her own cushy pillow. I can see her staring at me from the corner of my eye.

Her eyes are red puffy and streams of dried tears running down her face. She keeps her eyes on me attentively though.

"It rude to stare, you know," I say, looking up at her.

She rolls her eyes. "That's a little hypocritical."

I can't argue with that really. I shouldn't argue either. I'm here to make her feel better. Plus the comment was meant as a joke, but I guess Samantha isn't in the mood for laughs.

I nod. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

We stare at one another. It's a little awkward really. One waiting for the other to speak.

"What... are you doing up here anyway?" Samantha asked finally.

A blessing and curse really.

"I came to check you, Samantha." I answer.

She's surprised by my answer. Probably because I haven't been the nicest since we met.

"You were crying so.... You know, I wanted to make sure you were okay." I explain, awkwardly rocking back and forth on my heels.

The gentlest smile crosses Samantha's lips. "Thank you."

A spark of joy flutters inside. I've forgotten how good it feels to be nice.

"Eh, it's no big deal." I say.

The smile turns into a smirk and Samantha huffs a little. "That's probably the nicest thing you've done today."

"Yeah, well..." I sigh and take seat. "You're the only giant that's been nice to me, so..."

I let another sigh escape my lips. I look at my bandaged hand. There's still a burning sensation in my hand. I unravel the bandage letting the cool air touch it.

What am I doing.

A large finger rests itself under my burned hand. Warm air washes over me once again. Samantha is very close.

"What happened?" Samantha askes.

I scoff. "What do you think? I burned myself."

Another sigh. "Sorry,"

Samantha doesn't say anything.

A few minutes later there's a knock on the door. Samantha tells the person to come in. It's Jerome bringing her a small bottle of what looks like burn cream.

She thanks the young man for bringing it to her.

She turns back to me with the lid unscrewed and dabbles bit of burn cream onto my wound. It's more of a glob but Samantha does her best to get rid of the access. It's soothing to the touch and releaving for me.

Samantha rubs in the cream as gently as she can. "Everyone deserves some kindness... Other deserve more for what they've been through."

I chuckle lightly. "You could say that again."

"Wow, first time I heard you laugh too." Samantha adds with a sweet smile.

"Don't get used to it I say." I respond.

"Oh, trust me, I won't,"

We both laugh.

The silence that comes after the laughter has died isn't as awkward as before. It's welcoming actually. The first time it's been calm today to. It feels nice.

"I should be getting to bed." I say, sliding off the pillow and landing on my feet.

As I walk towards the edge of the bed, a giant hand blocks me. I instantly go into defensive mode, fearing of being grabbed out of nowhere. I turn to face Samantha. It's easy to tell that she wants me to stay with her.

"Can you stay? J-just for tonight, that's all I ask." Samantha asked. She doesn't demand and she won't force me to stay.

I sigh, pitching my nose. "What am I getting myself into," I mutter under my breath then answer. "Fine, I'll stay."

Right as those words leave my mouth, the giant hand wraps it's fingers around my frame, and I'm pulled close to Samantha. Everything is a blur for a before the world around me settles.

I'm laid flat on my stomach against Samantha's cushy bust. With how easy my hand sicks into the plush skin, it causes a blush to creep up my neck to my cheeks. I look up at the girl, hoping the look on my face is disappointment. From the look Samantha is giving me, its not.

Samantha's smirk becomes a cheshire grin. "What?"

"You know what? I change my mind. I'm going home." I say trying to get up.

"Up, up, up," Samantha applies a little extra pressure to keep me down. "You already agreed to stay."

I roll my eyes right out of my head. "I agreed to stay, not to be suffocated."

"You're such a drama queen," Samantha says. "besides, Tex and I used to..."She pauses. That chesire grin slips away and she fades into a distant memory.

As embarrassing as it is, I give the girl a comforting pat. A thumb runs up and down my back as a response to the pats.

We don't speak.

Samantha reaches over to the lamp and clicks it off, flooding the room with complete darkness except for the moonlight seeping through the cracks in the blinds.

I don't know how long it takes me to fall asleep. All I remember thinking about before the inky blackness takes over is-

Who is Tex?
