The ride to my new home isn't all that exciting. Samantha hummed to some tunes from today's latest hits. Some of the artists I recognize and mouth the words to the song. What? We humans may not have skyscraper cities or cars, but we have radioes and other things to help us keep up with the world of giants.
Suddenly the music goes quiet and Samantha speaks to the car. Telling it to send a message to her parents that she'll be home in a few minutes. The car makes a cheery ringing sound then tells her that the message has been sent.
"I just hope they'll be there." Samantha mumbles.
The car comes to a stop a few minutes later and slowly rumbles to off. I hear the door open and then close. The door next to my box opens. I physically prepare to be picked up. The g-force of being picked up makes my knees buckle and I drop.
A few heel clicks and the click of a door opening tells me we are finally home.
I walk over the air hole and take a peak outside. I can barely make out a set of stairs. A man in a black tux comes walking up to Samantha. Which is great because big boy here is blocking my entire view.
"Welcome back, ms. Gains." The posh, british man welcomes the young woman.
"Thank you Daniels, is everyone wearing their bands?" Samantha askes.
Daniels answers by raising his wrist to show a band with a black square screen attached to it. "Everyone has their bands on. I've also told them the consiquenses of not wearing one."
"Good, thank you, again, Daniels."
The man nods and the two break away from one another. Daniels heading down a hall and Samantha walking up the stairs.
"We've been been prepping the house for your arrival." Samantha tells me. "All the butlers and maids are aware that you'll be wondering the house." There's a hesitant pause. "They also know that you like to try and escape."
I groan. "Great."
"Sorry, but it's for your own safety."
That comment gets me heated is a second. "Don't tell me what's for-..."
Wait a minute. How can she hear me?
Gaints have always had a hard time hearing. It's one of their flaws in their evolution. And since I'm in a cardboard box, there's just no way she could have-.
The anger quickly subsides when a horrible realization sets in.
"If you can hear me from , then..." Oh, no!
"You're bakery comment was kinda funny."
I face-palm. "Double great!"
Samantha lets out an airy giggle. "Don't worry, I thought it was flattering."
"I'd prefer if you didn't about think it at all." I grumble as I walk away from the air hole. "How can you hear me anway?"
"My mom is a scientist and a doctor. She created these super sonic type hearing aids to help giants hear better. It's pretty cool actually." She explains.
I've heard about those over the t.v. at one of my old owns' homes. It was meant to be a great help finding small creatures out in the wild and even to help owners hear their humans better. Instead, they were used for tracking down humans out in the wild.
"So, your mom indirectly helped capturing me? Wonderful." I snear.
"She took them off them market years ago and has refused to sell them to anyone." Samantha clairifies with aggitation to her tone. "People have tried to replicate them, but no one has come close her orginal design."
I walk away from the air hole. "She still helped in a way even if she didn't mean to."
"Why are you trying to demonize her?" Samantha asks as another door opens and closes. Must be in Samantha's room now. "You haven't even met her."
"Gee I don't know, maybe if she didn't give giants new ideas on how to hunt and track down humans then I wouldn't be sent from home to home, being called a pet and treated like a child's toy." I rant with venom in my words. "Maybe, just maybe, I'd home with my own family rather then being sold off to some stuck up girl who thinks she's all that."
"Trust me, I'm not all that." She snaps back. "And I'm doing you a favor. If you stayed at that pet store any longer, they'd euthenize you."
"Just to be put through hell again? Go ahead and kill me now!"
The box then suddenly drops and the lack of gravity sends me airborn for a second before the box hits the ground and I hit it as well. Once the box then settles, I immediately flip the duffle bag off my body and being to rumage for the pocket knife. Man, I really should just keep that thing my pocket! I mean it's stupid not to! It's literally called a pocket knife!
The lid is pulled back like the way a banana is pealed and I'm yanked from the box by the hood of my jacket. I wiggle and squirm to get the jacket off. I get free but land right into the palm of Samantha's hand which turns into an inclosed fist around me.
Now we are face to face.
Samantha has a scowled look and a tight jaw, like she's holding back her emotions.
My heart is racing. I'm starting to think that I'd die from a heart attack rather whenever it is she's going to do me. That doesn't stop me from holding Samantha's gaze with a glare of my own.
"Come on, then!" I shout since the anticipation is killing me slower then she will. "Do it already!"
At first Samantha's face goes from anger to confusion. Then when it finally clicks in her head, her face morphs into terror. She looks completely horrified by the idea of killing me. And, now that I think about it, she's not even holding me that tight.
"I couldn't possibly..." Her lips tremble. "I would never..."
Her hands shake uncontrollably and her breath becomes shallow and short. There's this look of fear in her eyes as tears begin to drip down. She might be having a panic attack!
Gods, what has happened to this girl? She seemed fine just a few seconds ago and now she's having a full on mental breakdown.
"I... I can't... I can't do this!" She tells herself while trying to swallow sobs.
Help her! My subconsious screams in my head.
"H-hey!" I wave my arms to get Samantha's attention.
Wild and watery eyes zero in on me. I won't lie it sends a shiver down my spine.
"You gotta take a couple deep breaths, okay? In and out. In and out." I instruck her. I, myself, have to take a couple of deep breaths too.
Samantha breathes in and out while I tell her to do so. She's still shaking though. I do my best to comfort her by patting her thumb and telling her that it's okay.
Samantha wipes her tears away, smearing some of her makeup. She takes a few more shaky deep breaths before she's able to pull herself together. We both sit in silence now, soaking in what just happened.
I've never encountered a gaint or giantess with so much emotional termoil. It's scary really. If I had pushed too far then she may have accidently killed me. So that means I have to be a little more careful around her when it comes to button pushing. If I want to get out of here alive then I'm going to have to suck up to her a little bit. A little emotional manipulation never hurt anyone.
Okay, that's a lie to make myself feel better, but it's me or her. I'd pick me over her any day... Don't give me that look because if you were in the same instuation that I'm in then you'd do the same thing.
"S-sorry," Samantha murmurs. "I wasn't going to hurt you,"
I look at her skeptically. "Yeah, snatching me right out of the box without warning. You definitely didn't want to hurt me."
Samantha bites her lips, looking away in shame. Tears form again, but she quickly wipes them away. She's acknowleged my comment but doesn't respond to it.
We sit silently again, until Samantha has completely settled down. She hands me back my jacket and plucks my duffle bag out of the box and hands it over. I slip it on over my right shoulder and zip up the large pouch, but not before I take out my pocket knife and stuff it in my pocket. You know, just in case somethine else happens.
"I'd never hurt a human." She says mostly to reassure herself.
I scoff and mumble under my breath. "Keep telling yourself that."
Samantha sets me down a white plush surface that seems to stretch for miles then builds into two large hills at the end. A bed. It's huge!
Samantha leans back, resting against her palm, but she still keeps an attentive eye on me.
"I'm Samantha, by the way." She says now that she has most of her composure back. "What's your name?"
"Thought you read up about me." I say as I walk about the bed to look at the rest of the room.
"I did, but I doubt your real name is Stardust Sprinkle Shine."
Okay, she got me there. None of my previous owners ever asked for my real name. Even when I tried telling them, they'd laugh or mock me and tell me 'silly human, you're name princess Bonnie now.' Yeah, I don't give a rats ass what your child named me, dude.
"You gotta have a name, right?" Samantha presses.
I make it to the far corner of the bed. There's a window, with beaming sunlight coming through, across the room for me. The gap might as well be the length of a canyon for me. There's no jumping to it, but I might be able to figure out another way.
The mattress under my feet shifts. I have to stick my arms out to keep my balance. The faintest draft of pushing and pulling is behind me. Breathing.
"So..." Samantha again pries.
I sigh, shoulders slouching immensely, then turn to the girl. What I am not expecting is a full view of cleavage in my face.
"Gods!" I flip back around.
It's like getting flash-bagged in a video game. The difference is that a flash bang fades. The mental snapshot I got isn't going away anytime soon.
"Okay, now you're just being rude!" She protests annoyingly. The bed shifts again. "One minute you say I'm pretty, basically. Then the next, you're repulsed by me!"
I rub my eyes, trying to rub the image out of my head as well. "I'm not repulsed by you, idiot! I wasn't excepting to be flashed by a pair of tits when I turned around!"
The room falls silent. I think the awkward realization of what Samantha didn't even mean to do is setting in her head.
"O-oh."
Bingo!
"Sorry, I... I didn't mean to."
I wave off her apology. "I know, I know, accidents happen and all that."
There's another long pause.
The silence has me thinking though. Samantha hasn't been acting like all the other giants or giantess. She's a lot more gentle and she hasn't done anything to make me out right hate her... yet.
I sigh and fold my arms across my chest. "Caesar."
"Huh?"
"Oh, for the love of- Caesar!" I flip back around. "That's my name."
Samantha looks a little surprised by my name. "Like... Caesar Augustus?"
I'm a little confused by the comparison. I've never heard of someone named Caesar Augustus. Giant history and human history is very different from one another. The only time humans and giants really interacted with one another was nearly a thousand years ago and it was to end some big war.
"Sure," I say, unsure of my answer.
Samantha's smile widens. "That's pretty cool name! How'd you get it?"
"My parents gave it to me." I respond sarcastically.
The giantess rolls her eyes. "Okay, but why did they name you that?"
"It's not that crazy of a story." I say. "My parents were expecting a boy, but it seems at the last minute they got a girl instead and kept the name Caesar ."
Samantha giggles. It's the first time I hear it and it sounds sweet. Brain rotting sweet. That or maybe I'm becoming delusional. Or Samantha's a witch and has casted some spell on me.
"Great, now that we've introduced ourselves." Samantha says as she gets up from the bed and makes her way over to the desk that's next to the window.
She sifts through the drawers until she pulls out a small white box. She seems excited about whatever's in it. Then she looks at me, who is less then amused, and that quells her excitement.
"So um... this is another safety precaution." Samantha tells me. "But I'm not sure you'll like it."
She catches on quickly, I'll give her that.
Samantha sets down the small box in front of my feet and pulls the lid off herself.
My plain blank stare turn into rage.
A brown leather strap with a black box and blinking red light on the side, sits inside the open box.
"A damn collar!" I roar. "Are you serious?! After your little humans are not pets spiel back at the pet store!?"
"Caesar, it's not a collar." Samantha tries to explain.
"Like hell! I am not wearing that thing."
"You'll have to if you want to leave your own home or wonder the house freely." Samantha adds pleadingly. "Can you just let me explain?"
A prisoner. I've been turned into a prisoner! I can't believe this kind of behavior.
"Fine. Explain away, but it's not going to change my mind." I growl, folding my arm over my chest.
Samantha reaches down and pinches the collar out of the box. "This is to help track you while wondering the house." She holds up her wrist band to the collar and both of them start to beep and blink profusely. "It's to make sure you don't get stepped on while you're out and about."
She sets the collar down then shows her band. She taps the screen and a small map pops up. A lay out of the house.
"And you ever get lost or stuck somewhere. I, and only I, can find your exact location."
Huh, neat collar.
"I'm not wearing that." I say with a huff.
Samantha groans, flopping on the bed in defeat. "I can't believe this. This is to help protect you."
My eyes narrow in a sharp glare. "Bold of you to assume I need protection."
The giantess rolled her eyes. Pretty sure she would have gotten a strike with that eye roll if we were bowling.
"You're making this harder then it should be." She grumbles.
"You want complacency."
"I want compromise, Caesar. I'm not trying to force anything on you."
"It seems like you're forcing me to wear that thing."
"If I were forcing you to wear this then I'd put it on you without a second thought or given an explanation."
Samantha does have a point. With other giants, they wouldn't have cared this much to keep me safe. And I can't count how many times I've been forced to wear something against my will.
Maybe it isn't about complacency, but I don't think this compromise does me any good in escaping this place.
Then again... if I were able to get a compromise on making this little tracking thing into a belt then it'd be easier to cut off.
"Alright, I'll wear your stupid tracker thing." Samantha's frowning face turns in a beaming smile. "But I want it to be turned into a belt. Not a collar."
"Done."
Samantha made some quick adjustments to the collar and handed it over to me. She's stretched it out to look like it was nothing!
I stare at the blinking red bulb for a moment. I sigh and take the stupid thing wrap it around my waist before sinching it up.
"There. Happy now?" I say.
Samantha, with a smile on her face, responds. "Yes, very happy." The giantess then stands to her full height. "Now are you are free to explore wherever you like, Caesar!"
Great.
Now let's get to exploring.
And escaping.
