I told Zach to get all the warriors and to meet me in the forest. Training starts now.
I walked into the heart of the forest. It's around 10am so it's bright and there are a few animals around.
If i'm going to be training these werewolves then I need to know what they're made of. Task 1. Tracking and attacking. This will help me distinguish between the brains and the brawn.
It's been about 15 minutes and with each passing second my faith in their abilities is dwindling. I stand there waiting. My hands behind my back and my legs shoulder width apart.
The sound of paws pounding against the ground caught my attention. Finally. Let the games begin. Within minutes I was surrounded by 6 or 7 wolves. Although I know more are watching me.
A light brown wolf approached me snarling. He sniffed the air. Time to put my plan into action. I shallowed my breathing, let my heart rate increase. And for the finale I turned on the water works and stumbled into the back of a tree. I saw Zach giving me a curious look. Obviously wondering what i'm doing. The wolf leaned down and inspected me. He assumed that I was no threat. Which I was expecting. A trembling human girl sobbing on the floor isn't exactly on the 'watch out' list but that would be his fatal mistake. He was concentrating on my face and the other wolves. He was gauging my reaction. This allowed me to get the upper hand. I took out my pure silver army knife. I moved ever so slightly, until I was in the perfect position.
I'm now partly under the wolf. I lifted one hand to his snout, trying to remember how I acted with Mr.Wolfy McFluffy. He let his guard down. He closed his eyes and leaned into my touch. Zach was right, this Luna effect that I have on the pack is pretty cool. But I can't get used to it.
I seized my opportunity. It is clear that I won't be able to use brute force to over power him. So tactics and planning are essential. This is what I will teach them. From personal experience I know the best way to learn is by demonstration.
This has to be timed to perfection. My two feet are placed right in front of his two paws. I curled my hand around his snout. On the count of 3 I put my plan into motion.
I started by firmly gripping his snout so he couldn't bite me. At the same time I kicked his front paws from under him so he fell forward. I used my hand on his snout to help lift my feet so I wouldn't get trapped. I twirled my self around with great difficulty. The end result......the wolf is crouched down with his face down, I have a firm grip on his snout, i'm pinning him to the ground with my legs as I climbed on top of him and the sliver blade is placed to his throat.
I leaned down and whispered "training has begun" before I climbed off him. All the wolves have emerged from the forest. They're all growling and circling me. I dropped the knife and put my hands up. A wolf jumped in front of me but was growling at the others. That's Zach.
I resumed my initial position. I put all the power and force I hold into one word. "Shift"
I kept my eyes focused on the large tree in front of me. I heard bushes rustling and an awkward cough. It was then I noticed there are about 20 warriors in front of me. Ranging from 16-30, 5"11-6"4 and all well built. I can definitely work with this. I know this isn't all of their warriors but it will do for today. They were all staring at me. Some with curiosity and some with disgust. This is going to be a lot of fun.
"Training begins now. I'm Alex. Any questions?"
"But you're a girl." I was waiting for this. Taking a quick glance at my watch. 11 minutes, that's how long it took for one of them to have a problem with me.
"I asked if there were any questions. That is a statement. An obvious one at that. Yes I am a girl and yes I am your trainer. If you have any problems then please feel free to write it on a piece of paper and shove it up your ass. You may not like taking orders from me but you will. Believe me no one wants to be here less than me."
I saw the pain flash through there eyes but some were filled with hatred and others astonishment. These men have just met me and the mention of me not wanting to be here has them looking like I just killed a puppy.
At first they weren't going to take orders from a "silly little girl." Zach tried to order them to do as I say but just like before I fought my own battles. Within the first ten minutes I had most of them sussed out. So I played into their weaknesses. They couldn't believe it. They couldn't understand how just by looking at a few of them I could get all the information.
"Hulk, You're having problems with your mate. You're playing Video games to try and occupy yourself and when you do get a bit of sleep it's on the couch and not with your mate in your arms like it should be. That's leaving you weak. Always wondering if she's ok or if she's going to leave you. You need to fix it before someone else figures it out.
Tweedle dumb and tweedle dee you're in constant competition from girls to being the best fighter. In a battle you will be too concerned of beating each other and killing more than the other that it will lead to fatal mistakes.
Scar. You're the strong silent type. You have a temper and most are afraid of you but you're dangerous because you use your mind as a weapon. Calculating each move. After an accident you learned to use your brain as well as your brawn and that's what i'm looking for."
They're only a few. It's quite east really.
Hulk looks tired and at war with himself. He's here in body but his mind is somewhere else. I could tell he's sleeping on the couch by the way he walks. His back is stiff and from personal experience i'm sure it's from a couch. He's got bags under his eyes from staying up to late which tells me he can't sleep and is trying to occupy himself and most guys play video games. Who else would cause all of these emotions or this kind of reaction out of a warrior other than a mate.
The twins. Anyone could have figured them out. Even as wolves they were trying to get in front of each other. Trying to be the best. Then in front of me they were winking trying to catch my attention before the other one. Classic characteristics of many male twins but they're also wolves so the competitions is greater.
Scar. Well the nickname explains most of it. He has a scar across his face more than likely from a wolf. The way he stood, arms crossed, no emotion, like a brick wall. He didn't react to being trained by a girl. He just watched my every move. He's obviously learned from a past mistake because non of the other wolves showed the same initiative. The other guys seemed to be wary around him. Trying not to show their fear but it was evident in their body language.
So after all that and a few fights to show that I knew what I was talking about. Everything I said was proven true. Scar was a good opponent but he miscalculated my years of training.
I wouldn't say i've earned their respect and I know I won't for a while but they'll have to deal with it. I then chose a different tactic
"Ok none of us are happy about this situation. But as warriors I expect you to look past my gender and focus on the fact that I have been ordered to train you. Ordered to make sure you are ready for battle and capable of coming back alive. Now the faster we get over this childish quarrel, the faster I can train you and the faster i'll be gone."
The last sentence gave me a reaction I was not expecting. I was expecting them to be jumping with joy but instead i'm faced with 20+ men looking at me like I just told them i'm dying. Just like earlier except this time it was all of them.
I got them paired up and doing the basics. First then need to learn how to fight in their human form then we will progress to their wolves. I want them to think before they act so their task is to pin their opponent to the ground without using brute force. It's about acting and reacting.
While I was watching them Zach came up beside me.
"Did you see the way they reacted when you mentioned that you were leaving. They don't even know that you're our you know what but they already feel a connection. You're delusional if you think anyone could ever take your place."
I just ignored him. This is not the time or place. Plus i've already made up my mind.
I walked around, showing a few what to do. Showing them, how to improve and beat their opponent. It's now almost 3pm. I told them they were done for the day and to go home, eat, rest and fix the problems.
Just as I was about to get into my car Zach stopped me
"where do you think you're going?"
"Back to the cabin."
"But you said you wouldn't leave until training was completely finished. This is only day one, this is only the start."
"I said I wouldn't leave the country which I am not. I also never said I was going to stay in the pack house. I will drive up every morning, train them and then drive back. I never agreed to socialising and I told you things have changed. I will not allow myself to get too attached because I am leaving whether you like it or not. I have to do what's best for me. I'm sorry. I'll make sure that the pack is in safe hands before I go."
With that I drove off. This is for the best....
This is for the best.....
This is for the best...........
It feels as though i'm the one i'm trying to convince.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These last few weeks have been good. The boys have made great progress. They're learning. Aaron turned up a few days ago but I made him promise not to tell Bonnie that i'm here. He started to protest but gave up and agreed when I had him in a headlock. Believe me anyone can become a deadly ninja with the element of surprise.
I've been wearing my usual work out gear. At the start a few were whistling and winking but they soon learned that just earned them laps. I'm not interested in boys.
Most of them were distracted by my scars. I never explained what happened to them and i'm not going to. When they would act up I would simply point to one and say
"you won't get off this easy in battle. I went against men you're going against rogues, vampires and god only knows what else with no sense of moral values. Now AGAIN." I repeated that speech so much that by today they were reciting it for me. I just smirked and moved on.
Today I want to try something new and fun. I got them to circle me. I pulled the blindfold from my pocket and threw my jacket on the ground. I wrapped the blindfold around my eyes and secured it. I'm now surrounded in complete darkness.
No one moved. I'm pretty sure they weren't even breathing. This made me chuckle. I stood the same way I did on the first day. I spoke slowly and with clarity
"Today we're doing something a little.........different. I want you to attack me. Approach me and try to pin me to the ground. Don't speak just act." I could sense their hesitation.
"NOW"
Finally someone was brave enough to move. The fun begins. I listened for the sound of the leaves crunching beneath his feet, the slight tremble of the ground as his weight shifts when he approaches me. Wolves have a high body temperature which helped me in this situation, I could feel the heat surround me as I felt someone tower above me.
This all happened in a few seconds. I crouched down and swiped my leg underneath where I suspected him to be. Because I didn't know how he planned to attack me and if I waited to find out then I would have no time to react. I heard a thud and let my instincts take over.
After my little demonstration they were quite impressed and couldn't wait to have a go. I paired them up. I put the twins together which they were quite happy about. They couldn't wait to beat the crap out of each other. Oh brotherly love. I also paired up Hulk and Scar. I wanted to see how they would act, first against each other and then together. I always had a sense for these things. I could see who would work well together and my gut instincts were telling me that these two are a warrior team made in heaven. My gut hasn't failed me yet so why doubt it?
Training was cut short by Aaron running into the clearing, panting.
"Well look who decided to grace us with their presence. You need to work out more. You know what might help? Actually turning up." Aaron just gave me the finger.
"Bon-Bonnie. Bonnie's Birthday. Today. Present, you."
Zach seemed to understand what was going on and threw me over his shoulder.
"OH MY GIDDY AUNT HOW DID I FORGET. WE HAVE TO GO NOW. We don't have much time, come on. Oh if Luke saw me right now my guts would be splattered onto a canvas and given to Bonnie for her Birthday." I lifted my knee and drove it into his stomach, elbowed him in the shoulder blade and landed not so gracefully on the floor.
I grabbed the two of them by the ears and dragged them to my car.
"Now explain what the fuck is so important that you not only didn't show up but cut training short?"
Their eyes flickered to one another and they gulped in sync. It would have been funny if I wasn't royally pissed.
Aaron spoke first.
"Ok it's Bonnie's 20th birthday. We promised her something big and we want to make the day special. She hasn't been the same since you left. You'd swear you were her mate. She never wants to do anything. And I know you said you were leaving but please even if it's only for a few weeks, please i'm beginning you bring my bonnie back."
Damn him and his undying love for his mate and sappy declarations. I just sighed and nodded. "Bring her to the cabin in 20 minutes." With that I jumped into my car and drove off.
Bonnie is only 20, she's still a baby. I feel like granny, suddenly slightly more protective than I was before.
When I got to the Cabin I had a shower. While I was drying my hair I began to plan what we're going to do. I just grabbed the first things in my wardrobe......that would still fit.
I have the perfect plan. Aaron is going to think i'm such a bad influence........but........don't hate the player hate the game son. I have a few minutes to spare so I sat down and put on the TV.
No matter how hard I tried to push it away the thought of 'goodbye' was still creeping in and watching my self destruction.
