Chapter 42
Jack turned and gave her a look. âWould it be enough fun, though, for their suffering to end so quickly?
Wonât revenge feel better the longer it takes?
Violet stared back at him dumbfounded. What had possessed this man today?
âDonât you agree?â
âWhat you say does make sense.â She reconsidered before glancing at him. âWhy do you want to help me though? How does this benefit you?â
Under her suspicious stare, Jack replied without thinking much. âYou wouldnât have to live here if you live with the Yeagers.â
âYouâ¦â Violet glared at him. âJust tell me if you want to get rid of me!â
He looked slightly restrained. âMother Teresa never asked to be rewarded when she carried out good deeds.â
âMother Teresa?â Violet could not help but retort, âDonât besmirch a heroineâs name, alright? Youâre far different from her!â
âThereâs nothing to compare with a deceased person.â Jackâs eyes flicked to her face like lightning.
After looking at her for a moment, he got up without saying anything more and headed upstairs.
Violet watched as he disappeared from her sight.
She fell into deep thought, pondering the words he had said just now. She was in no mood to watch the television
program.
Could he be right?
If he was, she could have some fun.
She could help her mother secure an advantage and claim everything that the Yeagers had owed them all these years.
Jack was not such a bad person! Violet laughed and looked back at the television to continue her show.
That same night.
Warm yellow lights shone in the spa cious master bedroom on the second floor of the old Yancey manor. The thick and layered curtains had been drawn.
Samantha Ziegler sat at the foot of the bed in her velvety soft nightgown, making a phone call. The door to her room had been locked from the inside.
There was a beauty mask on her grave-looking face. She asked quietly, âWhen can Dawn come back?â
âSheâs taking the evening flight, on the day after tomorrow,â her brotherâs low voice sounded from the other end of the call. âWould they really get married if Dawn gets pregnant with Jackâs child? How confident are you?â
âThis plan will definitely succeed as long as Senior Yancey is around,â Samantha said, âhe has always been worried about Jackâs future when it comes to marriage. Itâll be very difficult to get Jack to consider getting married again, unless itâs a shotgun marriage, yes? He has just gone through a traumatizing wedding, after all.â
âThen what if we fail?â The man was worried. âMy position in the Yancey Group would be at risk. He doesnât suspect me now, at least.â
âSo⦠We must succeed. Failure is not an option,â Samanthaâs pink lips spoke softly. There was a cruel look in her eyes. âIâll see to this carefully. All you have to do is get Dawn to come home.â
âOkay.â
âTalk to Dawn about this.â Samantha squinted. âI believe that no woman would refuse to be Jack Yanceyâs missus. That is an indescribable honor, not to mention the luxury and wealth that come with it.â
âDawn will be very happy,â the man said. âShe has been fond of Jack ever since she was a kid. Sheâs full of adoration for him.â
âI wonât let a Yeager reject marry into the family.â Having said that, Samantha hung up.
Violet was a thorn in her flesh. Senior Yancey still doted on her despite the fact that she had caused such a huge ruckus at the wedding. This girl would not be easy to deal with.
The phone call ended.
â¢
The man on the other end of the call had been Samanthaâs brother, Armand Ziegler.

Chapter 42
Dawn Ziegler was Armandâs daughter and had been furthering her studies overseas. If she married Jack, they would be able to infiltrate his inner circle, and then it would only be a matter of time before they brought him down by finding something as leverage against him.
Early the next morning.
Samantha put on a purple tight-fitting dress and high heels before going downstairs.
The old man had awakened earlier and was already done with an hour of light exercise in the garden.
Zephyr and Dustin were close by.
As he went back in, he saw his daughter-in-law coming down the stairs.
âGood morning, dad.â Samantha was full of smiles, displaying her vivacious charm.
âGood morning,â Senior Yancey walked toward the couch. âDidnât Liam come back with you?â
âHe has gone on a hike for his nature sketching. The phone signal in the mountain areas is bad, Iâve not been able to contact him.â Samantha went to the couch as well after reaching the first floor. She sat down opposite Senior Yancey and poured a glass of tea for him while striking up a conversation genially. âDad, do you remember Dawn?â
