Chapter 25
Jack wanted to rebut her but he did not know what to say. He had not brought her out for dinner.
Violet pulled Senior Yanceyâs arm over without giving Jack time to respond. âBut Iâm very opened minded. I canât be bothered to hold a grudge against him, so please donât blame him. Why are you here so early? Have you had breakfast?â
She hurriedly changed the topic; getting beaten up was embarrassing to her.
âThe injuries on your face look serious! Are you hurt anywhere else?â However, Senior Yancey was heartbroken. The frown on his face remained. âHow can Theo Yeager be so evil?! Iâll help you get revenge on him!â
âThanks, grandpa. There arenât any other injuries, Iâm fine.â Violet was very touched. She did not want Jackâs grandfather to worry.
Meanwhile, Jack knitted his brows. He was completely helpless!
He could not be bothered to explain himself. Continuing down the stairs, he heard how they conversed with each other. They were very close.
âViâ Senior Yancey asked hopefully as he examined the clothes she was wearing, the ones Zoey had lent her. âDid you spend the night here?â This was very important to him.
âNo,â said Jack.
âYes,â said Violet.
They answered at the same time.
Senior Yancey looked at Violet before turning to Jack. It took him only a second to figure out who was lying.
The atmosphere in the living hall froze up for a few seconds.
The worldly-wise old man chuckled. Kindness radiated from his face.
He sat down on the couch and dialed a number on the landline. He instructed airily, âSend a few sets of ladiesâ outfits to the presidentâs mansion immediately. Matching footwear too, please. Get Dr. Gordon to come over as well.â He put down the receiver after he was done.
âGrandpa!â Jack darted over agitatedly. âIf the media catches wind that womenâs clothes are being sent here, itâll make the news!â
Senior Yancey glanced at him. âThen let it! News of you getting dumped at your wedding was already all over the news so what are you afraid of? Are we supposed to let Vi go out like this? If I didnât know better I wouldâve thought youâd taken her clothes from her.â
â.â There was astonishment in Jackâs eyes.
On the other hand, Violet had lowered her head to hide her smirk.
âHave you guys had breakfast, Vi?â Senior Yancey looked at her affectionately. âGo and eat your breakfast quickly. The clothes will be here soon, and weâll have a doctor here to take a look at here.â
âSure, grandpa.â Her voice was as sweet as honey.
Violet was hungry. She gave Jack a glance before walking into the dining hall alone.
Jack suppressed his anger from showing on his handsome face. He glared at her back before heading into the dining hall as well.
Did this woman practice sorcery? How did she get his grandfather to adore her so much in just a few days!
The two of them sat at a distance from each other.
The breakfast was very nutritious; there were eggs, soup, sandwiches, fruit salad, noodles, and milk.
Violet ignored him completely from the moment they sat down. She kept her head down and ate her food; she was actually a little afraid to look him in the eyes,
Jack stared at her coldly while eating his breakfast.
In the middle of the meal, Violet lifted her eyes. All of a sudden, their eyes met. Her limbs weakened slightly. âWhat on earth did you do to bewitch my grandfather like this?â Jackâs question was direct and to the point. âMy heart,â Violet answered matter-of-factly, âI have a kind and pure heartâ
âKind? Pure?â Jack snorted in derision. âMy grandfatherâs probably going to get you to live here. Youâd better think of a way

to leave or youâll never see your mother again.â He spoke co olly in a warning voice.
He got up and went away without waiting for Violetâs response, leaving his meal unfinished.
In the living hall.
âIâm off to the office!â Jack took his coat from Zoey and put it on while walking.
âHey! Donât you want to wait for Dr. Gordon?â Jack and Gordon were friends after all.
âThereâs a very important company meeting I canât miss.â He had no time to wait.
Jack vanished from the doorway quickly. The chauffeur opened the door to the passenger seat of his Maserati in the front yard and Jack slid in.
The chauffeur closed the door before returning to the driverâs seat. Very soon, they had driven off.
Barely a few minutes had passed when another car came in and parked in the courtyard.
