Chapter 2
The awe-striking look in the manâs eyes was difficult to disregard. He seemed as though he wanted to kill her.
She hurriedly kicked her high heels off and picked up the skirt of her gown before running down the steps and out of the
cathedral,
She deliberately gave Theo a look as she ran past him barefooted. Seeing how mad he looks, she felt exhilarated!
No one prevented her from leaving. Could it be because she was not Beryl? Perhaps it was because no one had recovered from the shock?
What a wedding. The bridegroom had said âI doâ, but the bride had responded with âI donâtâ. This was an extremely rare
occurrence.
Particularly when the bridegroom was someone of such significant status.
A limo had been waiting in front of the cathedral for a long time. Violet dashed towards it.
A man quickly opened the door to the car. âGet in.â
She darted into the car.
The man helped her push her wedding gown in before rushing into the car himself.
The doors closed and the car sped away like lightning!
There were three people in the car.
It was only now that the first phase of their plan could be considered complete.
Sitting at the back of the car, Violet smoothened out her thick and flouncy gown. âThanks for coming all the way here to help me, bro.â
âWhat are you thanking me for? Weâre family.â He was Julian Wood; he left a very refined and sophisticated impression on people.
âHmph! Theo Yeager wants to mess with me? I wonât rest until I mess him up completely!â She felt angry just thinking about it. âKidnapping, bride substitute. Only he would think up such things!â
She turned around. âWhy is he so evil, bro? Doesnât he feel bad about it?â
âIf he feels bad about it, then he isnât Theo Henry Yeager,â said Julian.
The more Violet thought about what had happened, the angrier she felt. She wanted to slap his face so much!
âViolet, youâve offended Jack Yancey today.â Julian began, reminding her. âYou must be careful in the future. Iâm worried that heâll come for you.â
She did not think so. âHe may even thank me!â
âWhat?â
âDo you think he wanted to get married? You didnât see the dirty look he gave when he saw me!â Violet said. âIt was as if I pulled some trick to get into his pants!â
She shook her head. âHe was probably forced into it as well.â
âIt doesnât matter what his intentions were. Youâve made him look bad at a wedding that was broadcasted throughout the entire city. His finely chiseled nose gave him a prominent look.
The girl fell quiet for a moment,
He gazed at her petite face and asked, âYou canât deny that, can you?â
Both of them exchanged looks. There was a moment of silence in the car. It was undeniable, indeed, so did it mean that she had to pay the price?
Julian continued. âFor someone in his position, this kind of humiliation is enough fodder for a lifetime of gossip.â

Violet pouted.
âYou have to be careful, I mean it. Iâm telling you as a guy that he wonât just let this go.â
âIâ¦â Violet blinked, âI didnât think so much back then. I just wanted to expose Theoâs past.â
âYou donât have to be too worried, thereâs always a way to solve a problem,â he said in a cool voice.
âIsnât that your specialty? Iâm just warning you. All you have to do is be more alert.â
Chapter 2 Violet nodded. âMm.â
âIf you really get caught by him, just apologize earnestly.â
âMm.â
âDonât âmmâ me, listen! Heâs the big boss of Rheinsville City, just hearing his name is enough to frighten some. Youâve never been scared of anything, but if you see him from now on youâd better stay away and hide.â
âThanks for your reminder, bro. Howâs my mum?â Violet changed the subject as she changed into her sneakers. âDid she get hurt? That perv erted Theo didnât hurt her, did he?â
âHe didnât, we got there right on time,â said Julian. âDonât worry, Iâve got her settled. Iâll be going back to the village once I send you home.â
Violetâs face changed. She turned to him and frowned. âLeaving so soon?â
âMm. Take care of yourself.â Julian gave off a noble but cold aura. âRight, our master said itâs been three years since youâ¦.â
âI know, I know,â she interjected with her eyebrows scrunching up slightly. The impending deadline got more and more worrying as the days slipped past, one by one.
âDonât be impatient, this is a very serious problem.â Julian glanced at her with a slightly darkened look.
âYou should care about this.â
âMm.â Violet nodded. âTell master Iâll visit him when I have time.â
âYou donât have to go back, the master has people with him anyway. Having you there wonât make a difference.â Julian had a cool expression on his face. It seemed as though he never smiled.
Violet turned to look out the window, thinking about the scene just nowâ¦
This Jack Yancey⦠He was rather handsome.
She had never seen such a handsome man in all her life.
Would he⦠really seek revenge?
She had said so much during the wedding and painted such a pitiful picture of herself. Would he still want to bully her?
That would not be chivalrous of him at all!
âMaster said you should keep your profile down low for a while, in case Theo comes for you,â Julian warned again when she was about to get out of the car.
âAlright.â She nodded her head obediently so that he would not worry.
âYou should also avoid Jack. Basically, just be careful.â
She smiled. âI donât think Theo will have time to come for me. He has a big mess to sort out himself!â
Julian looked at her with a steely gaze and said nothing.
âThe wedding was ruined, and he was exposed for lying to the Yanceys.â Violet broke it down for him.
âAll the Yancey old folks have to do is exert a little more pressure and his company would be completely demolished! Who knows, he may even go mad!
âAnd with the media focusing on him, he wouldnât be able to handle it!
âIf he really comes after me, hmphâ¦then heâll deserve whatever he gets. Iâll do what I need to do when the time comes. Heâs asking for it!â
After hearing all this, Julian did not feel as worried as he was before. This kid was a force to be reckoned with!
