"Come in."
"Mr. Hu, these are the documents you requested."
Zenon stared at the papers, not even sparing me a glance.
He squeezed out a cold "Yes" in response.
I couldn't help but scoff, remembering his lively demeanor on WeChat.
What a two-faced hypocrite.
With that attitude, he wouldn't be able to woo anyone, even if he tried.
Being single forever would be the least of his worries.
After a few seconds of silence, Zenon suddenly looked up, his brows furrowed like a tangled knot.
"Anything else?"
Weighing my options, my curiosity ultimately won.
I put on an expression that was three parts surprise, five parts curiosity, and two parts innocence.
"Mr. Hu, you look rather familiar.
Have we met before?"
Zenon's pupils constricted slightly, then he coldly spat out two words.
"No, we haven't."
I was dumbfounded, even letting out an involuntary "Huh?"
Zenon remained indifferent.
"Is there anything else?"
"No, nothing at all..."
Confused and bewildered, I left Zenon's office.
This man's thought process was beyond comprehension.
What was so wrong with admitting we'd met before?
