11.The Wrong Kind of Lasso

So much for not running into him after work.

My words must have been cursed!

Just thirty minutes ago, I was walking my dog.

Suddenly, my furry companion went berserk, breaking free from his leash and dashing off.

Exhausted from chasing after him, I flung the leash in my hand, hoping to lasso his head like a cowboy.

Instead of catching my dog, however, I managed to rope someone else.

Zenon, who seemed to be out for a night jog.

Out of his suit and in athletic wear, his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs were even more prominent.

And now, my silly dog was circling around him excitedly, somehow diminishing the intimidating aura of Zenon's usually icy demeanor.

But I had no time to admire handsome men.

Forcing a smile, I said, "Mr. Hu, I'm so sorry! Let me get this off you."

Zenon patted my dog's head as he continued to jump around him.

"It's alright."

Then he looked at me, his expression focused.

"So cute."

Was he talking about the dog or me?

I could only offer an awkward chuckle.

From the moment I saw Zenon, I had felt ill at ease.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, I made an excuse to leave.

I thought Zenon would just grunt in response, like he usually did.

But to my surprise, Zenon lifted his gaze and said calmly, "I'll walk you home."

I was floored.
