Chapter Seventy

A Billion Dollar Mess(Completed)1,964 words~10 min read

Bella's POV

I couldn't believe that happened. I just turned down oh-so-mighty Caden! That was honestly more of insane that meritorious. I just couldn't do it. He was perfect and all, but I couldn't bring myself to it.

I held the fluffy pillow to my chest and fell flat to the bed, my eyes wandering about in the beautiful ceiling, thinking of his face and every single thing that got me attracted to him. He was so hypnotic.

A vibration from the table jerked me out of my dreams and I immediately stood up lazily and got my phone. Darcy's name flashed on my screen and I picked the call Immediately.

"Hel - "

"Hello? Arabella Leah Allegra? Is that you?" I heard a thunder of a voice rage in my ears.

I shrieked in fear.

"Um..yeah. Its - "

"You are such a disappointment! I cannot believe you could actually go through with such a devious plan. Where did that attitude come from?" Ma's voice sparked in my ears like water against electricity. I froze on the spot.

No, no, no. No!

"Ma, I - I can explain," I started, chewing my fingernails and pacing from one corner of the room to the next in anxiety.

"Explain? Explain what exactly? The reason behind you being such an irresponsible human being? Being a slut? Going around the world and deceiving people? Tell me! Tell me because I cannot understand you anymore!" she barked angrily and I could only imagine the redness of her face and boiled blood.

A portion of my neck soaked with tears that rolled down my eyes, fell on my cheeks and ran into my shoulder. My vision blurred and my heart shattered. I was much more disappointed in myself.

"Ma, please. It was an accident. Believe me. I never wanted any of this to happen," I begged pitifully, my voice shaking in fear.

"An accident? Arabella you spent not one, not two, not three, not four but a good four and a half months in that place! What has  been going on with you?" she cried out.

"Ma, it's just -  "

"And you dragged Darcy into this? Arabella, words can never describe how disappointed I feel in you. Not even a thousand apologies can redeem my trust in you! You let me down! You just threw every single advice we gave in the bin. What happened to books before boys? And all those promises you made? I - you are in so much trouble!"

"Ma, please forgive me," I begged, hugging my knees as I sat on the cold floor, my head spinning in a thousand directions.

"Forgiveness? Arabella you know that can never be possible! I can't let go of the fact that you betrayed, lied, deceived and caused so much harm not only to your family but to others. You are insane for asking for forgiveness!" she spat plainly and I sunk in sadness, my heart beating really fast.

My face was already swollen, my cheeks red and my eyes the colour of my blood.

I looked up at the door and watched it open slightly until Caden's body finally walked into the room. Oh, goodness!

I held my finger to my lips, telling him to be quiet. The last thing I need now is more problems.

"Ma, please believe me. It was all an accident. I got switched up in the airport and everything happened so fast. I wanted to say something but I was so scared of being jailed," I explained as Caden rested his body just beside me, looking as lost as a puppy.

"But at the end, what happened? You got jailed and you have a prison record! For Christ sake, Arabella, where did we go wrong?" she questioned and I stared at Caden as he mouthed a 'what's wrong?'

I put the speaker on to avoid speaking to him. His voice should be the last thing heard by Ma. She was gonna explode in fury.

"Ma, I promise i'm gonna get back as soon as I can. Please - "

"Of course you're gonna get back. What else do you expect?" she hissed.

"Give me the phone!" Caden whispered.

I shook my head, begging him to not make things worse but he looked really determined.

"Give it!" she ordered and I shook my head once more, holding his hand and begging him desperately.

"And you're not permitted to have a boyfriend in college! Any more shenanigans and you're going to be disowned!" she fired and hung up the call.

Immediately, I broke down in tears.

Caden patted my shoulder gently and I curled up in his arms, trying to not murder myself for being so stupid! What was I even thinking?

"You should have given me the phone. She doesn't understand!" he voiced, his chest making little vibrations to my body as he spoke.

"Caden, I want to be alone," I whispered and released myself from his arms, standing up from the floor and dusting my clothes.

"But - "

"Please!" I spoke up once more and wiped the tears on my face.

"I'll be next door if you need me," he replied and I heard the door close.

Immediately, I slumped on the bed and buried myself in the duvet, crying my heart out in sadness.

My family- everyone was so disappointed. Ma...pa..

What had I done?

My head felt like a volcano was going to erupt and my tongue was as dry as the sahara.

I brought the duvet below my head and stared at the ceiling, recalling every single moment I spent there.

The many chances I had to spill the beans but I messed it all up because of my stupid fear. What was I so afraid of?

Mistakes are also a part of life. I was gonna try to remember it.

I woke up and stretched, rubbing my eyes with my palms until my blurred visions cleared partially. I stood up and placed my barefoot gently on the cold floor, climbing off the bed.

I felt like a big human mess. Like, totally gone.

I guessed it was goodbye L.A. I should probably let Caden know.

My feet dragged on the floor and I turned the knob, headed to his room. I knocked on his door twice and waited patiently until I saw his body in front of me.

"Hey!" I said with a forced smile and he gave way for me to walk in.

"Sit," he offered and I rested my butt on his soft king sized bed and watched him lean on the table in front of me.

"So?......" he trailed off.

"Oh! Sorry," I jerked out of my thought. "I need to talk to you about something important," I mentioned and tapped on the empty space beside me. He sluggishly got his body off the table and landed beside me, dipping the bed a bit.

"I need to leave, Caden," I said in almost a whisper and expected a thunder of a reply.

It was silent for a moment.

"Leave?" he raised a brow.

"Yeah. You heard what she said," I shook my head and face palmed, referring to ma.

"But do you want to leave?" he asked, staring at me.

"Please don't ask me that. I don't know," I replied, shaking my head.

"Why?" he spat suddenly.

"Why what?" I asked.

"Why didn't explain yourself to her. I mean, you believe it's not your fault, I managed to believe it's not your fault then what makes her different?" he raged.

"Caden, she's my mum. I just can't say anything to her," I replied softly, trying to make him understand.

"The more reason she's supposed to understand," he argued and stood up.

"Okay, I don't get why we're having this conversation, Caden. If you want to say something, please say it! Don't leave me in the dark," I voiced out in desperation.

I watched him lean on a wall, his hands to his pockets and his thoughts probably a thousand mikes away.

"Caden?" I called out, standing up.

"Never mind," he whispered and barged out of the room.

"Caden!" I yelled, running after him and trying to keep up with his pace.

We both ran down the stairs, I chasing him until he hopped on his car. Forcefully, I opened the passenger seat and got into the car too.

"Caden, say something!" I yelled but he didn't even care to look at me.

"Caden?"

He drove out of the garage and the security opened the gate and immediately, he sped out of the house and into the road, not minding the fact that there was another living organism called me in the car.

"Caden! Stop the car!" I yelled as he sped unstoppably, my heart beating really fast.

"You can come down," he said and stopped the car all of a sudden, in the middle of the road.

"We're going home, together!" I said and he shook his head.

"Well then, enjoy the ride,"

"What do you mean...ahhh!" I screamed at the speed he drove at. He violated at least five traffic rules with his reckless driving and over speeding. He was out of his mind.

He kept going on and on, taking curves and turns, and finally stopped in front of the house. I didn't realize it until I looked around. When did we get back there?

Immediately he parked the car, I opened the door and threw up. My stomach didn't have so much pleasure back there.

"Caden!" I called out as he hurried back into the house.

"Caden!" I yelled once more as he walked up the stairs.

"Caden!" I screamed angrily and he finally turned his back to face me.

"What?" he asked, his teeth gritted.

"Why - what is wrong with you?" I asked, panting heavily and trying as much as possible to catch my breath.

"I'll tell you," he started and moved a bit forward to me.

"Yes?" I mumbled, moving backwards.

"I said I'm gonna tell you," he whispered and my back smacked against the wall.

"Y - yes?" I muttered once again.

"This is what's wrong with me," he said and caged me in his arms, leaning over to me and our breaths against each others. I felt his nose against mine and I shrieked in what I knew was fear or uncertainty, perhaps.

His scent was hypnotic and so was those bright blue eyes that I dived in.

His lips were about to launch into mine but I immediately turned my face away, making him drift with a frown.

I bent my  head, waiting for him to say something.

"That! That's what's wrong with me. I can't have you and that's what's so wrong!" he said in a somewhat calm tone and lumbered away to his room.

He looked back at me and I looked up, opening my mouth to say something but the words weren't coming out. My mouth just hung open.

"Good night," he finally ended the night and walked into his room. I heard the lock turn twice and I heaved a deep sigh.

That night, I kept tossing and turning, remembering every single thing that happened.

Was I wrong?

I needed to get back home before I caused any more trouble, even if it meant hurting myself and him.

Caden.....
