A Billion Dollar Mess(Completed)1,251 words~7 min read

Bella's POV

I staggered to my room but then heard voices from Caden's room. I raised my phone to my eyes. It was 2am. What the heck was happening?

I slowly tiptoed to his room door and peeped through a hole. He was with the bitch. I turned to go but something caught my attention.

"I love her. I couldn't tell her earlier today. You interrupted us," he said sincerely.

"I thought you said to make her jealous," Mackenzie hissed in a whisper.

"I know, but that wasn't the right time. I wish I told her. I wanted to. I've fallen for her even if I was the one bluffing about her falling for me. I don't know... " he bawled and I zoomed in my eyes to see a ball of tears  roll down from his eyes.

He was.....crying?

Wow! As in, WOW!

"I'm sure she'll understand. Just tell her the truth," Mackenzie urged and rubbed little circles on his back with her hand.

I felt a line of tear fall down my eyes to my chest.

"I think I'll tell her. I just hope she doesn't hate me. I just....hope,"

"I know. That's just you. You always try to act tough. And mehn do i hate those ego's. Thankfully, they're being eradicated as those tears of yours. You're less annoying now," she smiled and patted his back.

I couldn't stand it. I wish I knew all that before. Why didn't he tell me that before? But then I knew my place quite well. I was not Mercedes. I should stop thinking of even letting him know how I feel. I had already hurt Cameron and a lot of people. I should stop it. Just, stop it already.

I turned to go but then I was unconscious. I think I passed out.

°°°°°°°°°°°°°

I opened my eyes slowly but then shot it immediately I heard footsteps coming my way.

Someone turned off the lights and sat beside me as the bed dipped.

"Little miss sassy," he  chuckled. "I'm sorry," Caden whispered and kissed my forehead before leaving the room.

He closed the door and I opened my eyes with a deep sigh before finally falling asleep.

Oh, Caden.

°°°°°°°°°°°°

I yawned as I woke up to the sound of the chirping birds by the window. The sunlight peered in through the curtain and lit a half of my face.

The weather was cool and the morning seemed really pleasant. I stood up stretching and went out of my room to Sally's.

I knocked on the door and she sleepily opened it, rubbing her eyes as she stood before me.

"What?" she asked.

"Get my espresso ready. Its your job," I reminded and turned to go with her mumbling.

I was about to go back to my room when something caught my eye. Caden's room. I stared at it and walked up to the door, still deciding whether to open it or not.

After all, YOLO. You Only Live Once.

"Caden's gone," I heard Papi say as I opened the door but immediately closed it back.

I stopped at my actions. What did he mean "Caden's gone" He can't be gone.

Our story isn't even ended and the book's already closed? Damn!

"What do you mean, papi?" I asked and turned back.

He stretched a letter to my hand and I slowly collected it, opening it and reading through the content in my mind.

It was a divorce letter. It just needed my signature and we would be totally separated.

"He left early this morning along with his parents. He said to tell you to have a good life and stay happy. Anyway, breakfast in five minutes," Papi said and left with a sigh.

"And lest I forget, the contract was cancelled and we owe a huge amount," Papi added before finally leaving, his face doleful.

What would I do? That could not be happening to me.  Immediately, I ran to my my bedroom and dialled Banks. She wasn't picking up. I slumped on the floor and my eyes watered.

My lips quivered and I trembled. "What if I never see him again? What if he's gone for good and never comes back? I can't let him go," I whispered to myself in fear.

I dialled her number again and placed the phone on my left ear, hoping she'd pick up.

"Hello? What do you want?" she asked as she finally picked up.

"Banks I need your help," I said in distress.

"You fired me and i'm currently at work. Please do not disturb me!" she yelled and hung up.

My heart sunk to my chest and I let the  tears go falling down.

"Breakfast is served," I heard a voice say. I turned around. It was Mackenzie.

"Can I have a word?" I asked, fully aware she's less annoying, given her reaction last night.

She walked in and sat beside me. "What?" he rolled her eyes.

"Did you know about it?" I asked as I cleaned my tears.

"We talked about it last night when you passed out in front of his door. He was heartbroken that you came back reeking of alcohol, again. He was desperate for your attention and was sad when you didn't care about his apology. Caden can be a hot head most at times but its because of his past. He's a strong person. Almost too strong," she sighed.

"Why didn't you tell me all this before?" I asked.

"Why would I when you saw me as an enemy?"

"You two were always together. What would you rather have me think?"

"It was just a plan to make you jealous. He was always lonely. Every night since we arrived here you're out partying and come home reeking of alcohol. And when you came back you never cared. When he asked you, you shoved him off like some piece of trash, and that's how the cycle kept going. You, broke him," she stated strongly.

"So, who's gonna take care of the event, how's it all gonna go?" I asked.

"His assistant would take care of everything," she said with a smile and stared at her phone.

"Is there any chance he might come back?" I asked.

"Knowing Caden Carlos Kensington, second chance is just a mirage. Yet alone at love," she slowly shook her head with a sigh.

"But tell me. Why the questions?" she asked, putting her phone aside in her pocket.

"I don't know," I shook my head.

"You like him, don't you?" she smiled.

"If i knew you two weren't a thing I would have told him," I said in regret.

"I can just imagine how happy he would have been," she smiled. "He didn't want to be the one to lose to Cameron,"

Oh...Cameron....

"Yeah," I nodded and swiped away the tear that fell down my cheek.

"I really hope you get over it and meet someone good. I need to go," she said and stood up, headed for the door.

"Thanks," I spoke up.

She smiled as she turned back and finally left the room. He was gone. He couldn't be gone.
