Caden's POV
A vortex of anger swirled inside me as rage pounded in me like a drumbeat.
My fists clenched and I could feel my blood boil every freaking time I recall the night.
"Ahh!" I screamed and ran my fingers through my hair, flipping the table over in anger and causing a loud thudding noise.
"Can you calm down? Its not the end of the world!" Mackenzie urged as she swallowed down a gulp of alcohol.
"But its the end of my world. She's killing me, you know!"
"The only one killing you is you, Caden. I could swear I told you to let her know what that black stone you call a heart feels about her but that egotistical part of you is the beginning of your doom," she grunted and puffed out the smoke from her mouth and polluted the air once again.
"I can't lose to that bastard of a brother. I never lost to him. Not for anything. Not now, not ever. And especially not over a woman!" I seethed.
"And there goes your ego's once again," she rolled her eyes.
"Mercedes!" I scolded with gritted teeth and clenched jaws.
"Chill out. It's not as if this is the first time she's actually doing this. Tell me you didn't realize that over the past month, she's been out all night and coming back reeking of alcohol. Tell me. And tell me you don't know the source of that stupid behaviour she's putting up!"
I shrugged.
"Oh, Jesus." she mumbled. "Its that crazy new secretary she hired. She's this tramp I can't seem to figure out and trust me, Mercedes will never, ever see your efforts as long as she's around,"
"So, what should I do?" I asked again.
"This one may be a little above you, Caden. But trust me, telling her is the best option. What if she runs away with him?"
"No, she can't do that!" I shook my head, forcing myself not to believe it. Could she?
"You don't know that for sure!" she cautioned.
"You know what? I'm freaking done here, Caden. Sort yourself out!" she snapped and picked up her bag to go.
I slipped my hand to hers and dragged her back to the bed, making her slump on it with a thudding noise.
"What do you want me to do, Mr. Caden Carlos Kensington? Get into your mouth and voice out the words for you? Or just announce to the whole world that you're way too egotistical to profess your stupid feelings to your oh-so-different dream girl? Huh? Tell me! Huh?" she roared.
"First, that may work and second, keep it down. Take a chill pill,"
She finally exhaled and asked, "what?"
"Help me out here. I'm desperate. I cannot lose at this one. No, I can't,"
She tapped her legs on the floor and thought for a while before looking up and speaking. "Okay, I'll help you out."
I smiled. "Really?"
"On one condition!"
"What?" I scoffed.
"You have to do it immediately we're done,"
"Do what? I asked.
"You'll see," she smirked. "You'll see,"
"Okay. So what?" I shrugged.
"Let's pretend i'm that Mercedes. Ugh, I can't believe i'm really doing this. Even acting like her makes me so sick," she stuck her tongue out in disgust.
"Yeah, yeah. Drama Queen." I rolled my eyes.
"Shut your mouth!" she bellowed and I raised my hands in surrender. "As I was saying, let's say i'm Mercedes. And I just walk into the hotel with my stupid tramp of a secretary and i'm acting all tired and annoyed. Just do whatever you would do. Confess your stupid love to me," she vociferated and I cleared my troat.
"Mercedes - " I laughed.
"I'm not joking!" she thundered and slapped my chest, hard!
"Let's try that once again," she said and took her position once more.
"Um..Mercedes - I - I - "
"You might as well end it with Ice cream!" she ranted angrily.
"Sorry, sorry," I chuckled. "Mercedes, I need to say something really important. Like, right now. I think, I, I've kinda - "
"Cut that shit out!" she snarled. "What in the name of heaven's was that? You are such a blunt little child," she rolled her eyes.
"You watch it!" I warned. "I'm good enough," I proved with a little shrug.
"Sure you are," she rolled her eyes and hissed.
"You know what? I'm out of here for good. Call me when you're a little less annoying!"
She slammed the door hard and I could hear her footsteps wander away.
Who knew love could be this hard? Who knew i 'd find it so hard to say how I felt when in fact I've lied about it a million times? Who knew revealing the truth is harder than telling the lies?
Let me answer. Me.
I never thought it'd be this complicated. I never thought I'd lose myself for some crazy girl.
Some insanely annoying human....
I slumped on the bed with my hand under my head as i replayed her face in my mind.
Stupid me... Where the heck is my sanity?
