Bella's POV
"Nude shots? I couldn't take nude shots. I couldn't show my body in front of the cameras with a bunch of breathtaking Korean guys as if I were some golden statue," I kept whispering to myself.
"Ma'am, Mr. Kensington is here to see you. Should I send him in?" Banks asked as I picked up the phone.
"What? You mean Caden?" I yelled.
"Yes," she replied.
I sighed. "Alright, send him," I hung up and kept the phone beside some files which according to Banks were "pending".
"Why did you waste so much time in that meeting? I've been waiting downstairs for you," Caden yelled as he barged into my office.
"I..." I started.
"And why did you have Banks thumbprint added to the lock of your door? I should be the one!" he yelled.
I laughed.
"And why is that?"
"I'm your husband!"
"Not my boss!" I shot and sighed.
"Well, soon to be," he smirked and slumped his butt on my couch.
"What do you mean?" I asked, standing up and waking over to him with a curled lip.
"In one sentence, three syllables, BA HA MAS!" he smiled broadly and stared at lost me.
"What do you mean BA HA MAS?" I asked.
"Guess who's going to the Bahamas in two weeks?" he said excitedly.
"Who?" I asked.
"Me!" he yelled.
"And I care, how?" I asked and placed a hand on my waist, leaning on my table.
"You'll be working for me, of course," He smirked.
"Over my dead body!" I yelled.
"Then you had better start dying, Darling," he smirked and grabbed the remote, turning on my TV.
"I'm not gonna die. And work for you my foot!" I yelled and looked away.
"Come on, i'm not that bad!" he said and laughed.
"Not that bad?" I yelled, turning back to him.
He laughed, "Tell me you don't have a crush on me."
I sighed.
"When exactly are you going to the Bahamas and why the heck would I be working for you?" I asked and sat on the couch opposite his.
"Well, my company needs to endorse fifty top stars and provide them at the yearly ceremony. And guess whose idea it was?"
"Whose?" I asked.
"Mine," he smirked and laughed loudly.
"I'm a star, you know," I reminded.
"I know. That's why I made you the number one star. But watch your back. You never know who's star enough to be a star,"
"Whatever," I shrugged and returned to my seat.
"Wrap up things here this week and next because next two weeks is hello Bahamas!"
"Yeah, yay!" I yelled sarcastically with a loud sigh.
He laughed and stood up, headed for the door.
"And before I forget, your shoot with the k pop band would be postponed,"
I heaved a sigh of relief and smiled happily.
"And would happen immediately we get to the Bahamas where the view at the beach would be perfect and the fishes get horny over you," he pointed at me and bursted out in a pique of laughter.
What a dude! Why was he that happy anyway? And why was he that dirty? For someone who acted so snubby, there was surely a lot going on in his little mind.
"Okay, who did you send to kill me?" I asked.
"Huh?" he raised a brow and fixed his glance back on me.
"What else would make you this happy than my funeral?" I raised a brow and turned at the TV. It was just the news that was on. Normal CNN.
"Chillax, grumpy! Can't a man be happy?" he asked with a little chuckle.
"First, YOU are not a man. Second, YOU can never be happy as long as I know," I sighed and returned my gaze back to the files on my table.
"Sheesh! Never knew you hated me this much," he mumbled, holding his chest.
"Now you know," I pointed with a smirk.
"Well, okay," he chuckled. "I'll be off now. And tell Banks to prepare. She would be joining us,"
"I don't want to go!"
"Orders from the boss!"
"Ugh!" I groaned.
"And before I forget, we're going on this annoying ten day couple retreat at the hotel downtown. Dad's idea," he rolled his eyes.
"And who's the couple?" I asked, laughing.
"You and I," he replied.
"I don't need it,"
"Neither do I,"
"I don't want to go,"
"Neither do I,"
"Can you stop doing that?" I yelled.
"Whatever," he laughed.
"When does this retreat stuff start?" I asked.
"Tomorrow,"
"What? Its too - "
"Sudden? I thought so too. See you at home?"
"Whatever!" I sighed.
"Bye, wifey!" he went out the door.
He just call me wifey? What was wrong with that dude? He was under a spell or voodoo. Whatever it was, it should be 24 hours already.
"Ma'am, you have an appointment with the board. You need to discuss a couple of things," Banks said as she popped her head into my office.
"Ugh!" I groaned.
°°°°°°°°°°°°
"There you are. I've been waiting for you," Caden said with a bowl of popcorn in his hand as i walked into the house, back from work.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"Let's watch a movie?" he asked and waited for a reply.
"Hell no. I'm tired and need to rest. I have tons of work at the office tomorrow and the last thing I need now is your current weird attitude," I replied an started my walk up the stairs.
He frowned a bit. "Are you sure just an episode, at least,"
"Not even a scene. And aren't you always "busy"? Go do some work of yours and leave me alone! I'm off to bed already!" I yelled and continued my walk, slamming the door hard.
He was so weird. I hated that attitude and it prayed it'd stop before my stupid heart fell in love with it.
I pulled off my shoes and sat on the bed, waiting for Banks to get my shower ready.
°°°°°°°°°°°°
"Ma'am, I know its none of my business but I can't help but notice the relationship between you and sir Caden," Banks started as I tugged myself into the duvet and prepared for a nice sleep.
"And what exactly do you mean by that?" I asked, sitting up a bit.
"I mean, first you two had a hate relationship, but now I see something really different,"
"Different as in how?" I asked, raising a brow.
"Different as in, I think sir Caden..."
"You think sir Caden what?" I asked, impatient.
"I think sir Caden..."
"Sir Caden what? Look if you don't have something to say, then I have to sleep,"
"I think sir Caden has feelings for you,"
I laughed hysterically.
"You - are - so - so - funny!" I said and laughed in between each word.
"I'm serious, ma'am. You should notice his recent behaviour,"
"And I should care, how?" I asked, not really caring if that demon liked me or not. If he liked me, it was his business not mine. It was his like, not mine. I didn't know why I should be stressing over a matter so petty.
"You don't care?" she asked raising a brow.
"And why should I? I don't give a damn," I sighed and laid on the bed to fall asleep.
"But ma'am, once if he actually likes you? Don't you think it'll make the marriage work better? It'll be perfect. And at least you won't have to pretend in front of everyone,"
"And once if I don't like him?" I asked, not turning my face at her.
"Then - " she was probably speechless.
"Look,Banks. You should mind your business. As you said while we started the conversation, it's none of your business. Turn off the light and close the door behind you,"
I shut my eyes and waited for her to leave.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," she quickly got of my bed and turned off the lights, closing the door.
What if Banks was right? Did he like me? He did act strange earlier today, but I didn't know. I couldn't say I was crushing on him,but I couldn't say I wasn't either. The situation was complicated. My heart was confused.
I stood up and grabbed my phone from under the pillow. I dialled Dar and sat up, placing the phone on my left ear.
"Hello, Dar?" I said immediately she picked the phone.
"Hey, Bella. Long time no call,"
"Yeah, I know. Been so busy lately. But what's up! Is he still after you? I mean - Henry?"
"Oh, he got arrested again. Thanks to me. And I don't think he'll be bothering us again. So much for having a dad," she sighed.
"That's great!" I yelped.
"I need to go now. Anything else?" she asked, probably having the anger from our last conversation.
"You don't seem too excited to hear my voice," I pointed out.
"I'm just stressed out and need to sleep now. Call you later?" she ignored.
"Well, okay. Sure. But the wedding - "
"Bye," she hung up.
I heard footsteps headed my room and I immediately laid back on the bed, pretending to be asleep.
"Good night, Mercedes," Caden said as he opened my door and I just laid with my eyes tightly shot.
He closed the door and I could hear his footsteps as he headed to his room.
I thought Banks was right. He really liked me.
And what if I did? I needed to set my priorities straight. I didn't. That was final!
