CHAPTER 5

After school, I headed to the locker room with Rae and changed into my swimsuit and grabbed my towel and bathrobe (both had been provided to me by the swim team from the school). We then went to the pool where the practice was taking place. We were practicing for our first swim meet for the school year. I joined the swim team last week and let's just say someone wasn't happy about me trying out and was even unhappier when coach let me on the team. Three guesses, who? Yep, little 'Miss Popular', Brittany Daniels. Anyway, to help us practice for the actual meet, coach organized a mock swim meet for us so basically almost the whole school came for the meet.

As I waited for it to be Rae's and my turn to enter the water, I noticed that Brittany was shooting glares at both of us for no apparent reason, Rae had also noticed. We both shrugged and took off our bathrobes since it was almost time for to get into the water and went to stand at the edge of the pool in our places waiting. I put on my goggles and I got into position, then when the shot was fired, I dove into the water and swam. I blocked out everything around me as I swam enjoying the feel of the water against my skin but made sure to maintain focus. I finished my lap before everyone else including Rae. When I resurfaced, everyone was cheering and applauding, for whom I didn't know nor care. I got out of the pool then went to dry off, and was joined by Rae a few seconds later.

"The meet has come to an end and from what I've seen, I know that our girls are ready to beat whoever we're up against this year. (Everyone cheered once again before the coach asked for silence once again.) When the school year started, I was yet to pick our team captain because I was conflicted between three of our best swimmers, Brittany, Raelynn and Kiara. But after what I've seen today, I've finally decided. This year we're gonna have two team captains, co-captains. So, congratulations to our new team captains, Miss Raelynn Simmons and Miss Kiara Williams." Coach announced. Rae and I looked at each other in shock then at coach who smiled at us while the crowd cheered loudly for both of us. Raelynn and I hugged each other before we were smothered with hugs from our friends who had come down from where they were seated in the bleachers. The other swimmers, minus, Brittany, came over to hug and congratulate us.

After changing back into my previous clothes and grabbing my shoulder bag, I went to find coach. I found her by the pool, talking with an angry Brittany. Brittany then stormed off, indicating that she didn't get what she wanted. Coach then turned and saw me.

"Ah, Kiara. Is there something I can help you with?"

"Yeah, I was wondering why you chose me to be co-captains with Raelynn. I mean I only joined last week and there are others who swim just as well as I do and have been here longer than I have." She smiled.

"Well, those very others whom you just mentioned, minus Brittany, were the very ones who voted you and Raelynn as captains when I asked. You asked why I personally chose you. Well, it's because I found in you certain qualities that I haven't seen in most swimmers in a long time. I noticed that when you swim while you're enjoying it, you still stay on task. Most swimmers just think about winning and never take the time to enjoy themselves and that is why they sometimes lose. They are always too tensed up that they can't relax enough to flow with the water, to swim with the grace required but you and Raelynn do. And that is precisely why I chose you both so that you can help your teammates to do same. I have all the faith that with you two will help us win the many competitions that are ahead of us this school year. If that is all, you would have to excuse me, I have to go see the principal." I nodded then left to the parking lot where I found all my friends and sisters waiting by my car.

"Hey, there she is. Co-captain of the swim team. We should totally celebrate. How about we go to Alena's? Drinks and food all on Nick." Nicki said when I got to where they were.

"What?" Nick said in surprise.

"You owe me remember?" Nicki said. Nick raised his hands up in surrender.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go." Kara said, then she got into her car with Carissa, Marina and Candice while I got into my car with Korra, Nicki, Rae and Caitlin. The boys went to get their own cars then we all headed to Alena's. By the time, we were ready to go home it was seven pm almost eight and Eliara was calling to find out where we were. I told her we would be home soon. We bid our friends goodbye then went back home.

Korra's P.O.V

We've been here for two months now, only one month more to Christmas and so far everything has been good. Kara and I joined the gymnastics team and just like Kiara, when she joined the swim team, Kara and I was made the team captains. So far we've been able to fit in not just in school but in the pack as well. We sometimes go to the pack house and we are treated like a part of the pack by everyone, well everyone minus the fake 'Barbies' of the packs. In just this short time my sisters and I as well as Carissa and Elissa have gotten real close with the Mendez siblings, Raelynn and Alec, well Kiara's much closer to Alec than the rest of us. It surprises me just how close they've become, like two peas in a pod. The rest of us sometimes tease them but so far we've noticed that it's nothing more a close friendship between the two of them but that doesn't stop is from teasing them.

I was currently walking down the hallway on my way to lunch, when I got pulled into an empty classroom. I looked up to see the so-called queen bee and one of her worker bees standing in front of me with arms crossed. I give her a tight-lipped fake smile.

"Well hello there, Brittany. Is there something I can help you with or did you just feel like abducting people out of the hallway today? Oh by the way, I just noticed. Where's your other hanger on? Chelsea, was it?" I felt someone stab me with a needle then and inject me with something, then they walked to stand next to Brittany.

"I'm right here, bitch." I started feeling dizzy and weak.

"You see, Korra, on your first day here, I warned your sister to stay away from my man but it turns out she didn't listen and now she's even gone after Chelsea's man, Alec, and from what we heard two months ago, she also went after Brooke's man. Man, such a bitch and a slut." Brittany said.

"What the hell did you inject me with?" I asked as I stumbled to get balance and went to hold onto one of the tables.

"Just a little too much wolfsbane and wolf lichen to keep you unfocused and unbalanced for a long time. I need you to send your sister a little message for us. Nighty night." She punched me causing me to black out completely.

Kara's P.O.V

We were in the cafeteria having lunch. I was laughing at something Rissa said when I suddenly felt like something was not right. I looked to Kiara and noticed that she was feeling how I was. I noticed then Korra still hadn't shown up for lunch.

"Hey, have you guys noticed that Korra still hasn't come?" Ellie asked.

"She had history with me before lunch. She was talking to the teacher when I last saw her about some essay she had written. She told me to go ahead to lunch without her that she would come soon." Caitlin informed us.

"Guys, something doesn't feel right." Kiara said and I nodded to agree. Just then, Danny, a guy from my A.P Chemistry class came over to our table panting a bit.

"Kara, Kiara, you have to go to the Nurse's office right now. It's about your sister." Kiara, Carissa, Elissa and I immediately shot up from our seats when he said that.

"What? Why? What happened?" I asked.

"I don't know. I found her in an empty class room all beat up and unconscious and took her to the nurse's office." Danny explained.

"Thank you." I said, before the five of us left to the infirmary. When we got there, we saw Korra lying on one of the beds with bruises all over her face and arms and an I.V bag connected to her hand. Ms. Rochelle, the nurse, approached us as we entered.

"Girls, you shouldn't be here. You should be in class." She said.

"What happened to her?" Kiara asked firmly. Ms. Rochelle sighed.

"I don't know. But she's isn't healing as quickly as she's supposed to. I found out that there's a lot of wolfsbane in her system."

"But that shouldn't slow down her healing process. Back home, we learnt to build an immunity to it. So it can't be just wolfsbane." I said, not telling her the direct truth. To be honest, wolfsbane doesn't affect us royal werewolves.

"Well, I did find another substance in her system." We all looked at her with questioning looks.

"Well, what was it?" Elissa asked.

"Letharia Vulpina. It's commonly known as wo-"

"Wolf Lichen." Carissa said, cutting her off.

"Yes, how did you-? Never mind. Anyway, with the dosage in her system it should take a day or two for it to completely leave her system."

"What if you do a blood transfusion? That should flush it out faster. You have blood transfusion equipment here right?" Kiara said.

"Yes, we do. Brilliant idea, I'll go get it. Oh before I do, Kiara, this was attached to her jacket when she was brought in. It was addressed to you." Ms. Rochelle said, handing Kiara a folded sheet of paper before going to get the equipment needed. Kiara unfolded it then read it. She had an angry look on her face when she was done reading. I took the note from her and read it myself. As I read, I felt nothing but rage. Ms. Rochelle came with the equipment then and hooked Kiara and I up to Korra per our suggestion to make the process faster since the three of us were of the same blood group. An hour later, all the wolfsbane and wolf lichen was out of Korra's system and she was starting to heal. We had sent Elissa and Carissa back to class while we stayed with her.

Soon she woke up all healed and with most of her strength back.

"Hey sis. You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I will be soon once this headache passes. Ugh... I'm gonna kill that bitch and her minions." Korra said as she sat up and swung her legs to the side.

"If by that bitch you mean Brittany Daniels, then yeah. We're gonna kill her for what she did to you." Kiara said, with anger evident in her voice.

"Ah Korra, you're up. Thank God. Well, good news, all the poison is out of your system and all your cuts and bruises have healed, so you're good to go." We thanked her and went out into the hallway just as the bell sounded for the end of class meaning school was over.

"Looks like it's time to teach that bitch a lesson." Kiara said, darkly.

"Hold on, don't you have swim practice this afternoon? I know our coach cancelled gymnastics practice to give us a break." Korra said as we walked to our lockers.

"Coach gave us the afternoon off too." Rae said joining us at our lockers.

"So how can we help you hurt 'Barbie McClown'?" Nicki said with a smirk. Kiara smirked as well. I know that smirk all too well. Looks like Brittany is in for a world of pain this afternoon.

Kiara's P.O.V

My sisters, Rissa, Ellie and I as well as the girls went out to the soccer field to wait for Nick and Alec to come with our 'special guests'. 10 mins later, they arrived with the three of them in tow. Nick and Alec then came to stand behind us. A look of disbelief crossed Brittany's face before she covered with a smug look.

"Oh Kiara. I see you got my message. Oh Korra, hi there. How's the wolfsbane and wolf lichen treating you?" She asked with a smirk. I gave her a fake smile.

"You know, Brittany. I knew you were obnoxious and self-conceited. And because of that I let you be and that was until I found out that you were stupid as well. So stupid that when I warned you about touching my family, you decided to do just what I warned you about." I said.

"Well, you ignored my warning. Only fair that I ignore yours too." She said with a smirk. I chuckled softly then stopped. My sisters and I then moved as inhumane speed and caught the three of them in a choke-hold.

"Oh but you see Brittany, there's a difference between your warning and mine. Yours was based on bitchiness so I had no problem ignoring it while mine was based on family and love. I warned you not to touch any of my family or friends and you decided to be stupid enough to hurt my sister. Maybe it's time you learn a few lessons about hurting someone close to me. (I threw her across the field making her land on the ground with a heavy 'thud' then pounced on her wrapping my hand around her neck harshly.) Lesson one, never in your miserable life, lay your filthy hands on any of my sisters or cousins or any of my friends, ever. (I lifted her to her feet then delivered a roundhouse kick to her stomach and across her face making her fall to the ground.) Lesson two, never take my threats lightly. (She stood up and staggered a bit before trying to kick and punch me. I dodged her pathetic attempts and delivered some powerful punches and kicks all over which were sure to ache till tomorrow and give her bruises as well. Then I delivered the final blow which brought her down finally. I crouched down to her level.) Lesson three, never in your pathetic life cross me ever again. So I'm gonna give you a final warning. If you ever pull a stunt like the one you did today, I won't be as merciful as I am being today. The next time I will kill you and there won't be anyone or anything to stop me." I looked up to see that her minions had also been brought down by my sisters. I looked around and saw every student from school standing on the field looking on at what was going on.

"Let this be a lesson to everyone. We can be very nice, kind, generous sweet and all those good compliments but mess with anyone of us and we will no longer be nice. You mess with one of us, you mess with the rest of us. We spared Brittany today but that doesn't mean we'll spare anyone who tries to cross us like Brittany did." Carissa and Elissa warned with the same voice. The five of us then walked away from there to our cars in the parking with everyone staring at us in awe, then we drove away.

Let's just say, after that day, everyone knew not to mess with us. We were still cool with everyone except those three brats. Even Alpha Mendez found it hard to punish us for fighting on school ground and hurting another student when he found out why we did it and that got Brittany and her minions suspended for two weeks. Since then, everyday has been just wonderful.
