CHAPTER 12

"Your Majesty, you said you wanted to see the two of us." I looked up from my tablet to see Garret and Gia standing in front of the desk. I gestured to the chairs in front of the desk for them to sit.

"Yes, I asked to see you two. Now I want to discuss what went on this morning. Gia, do you mind explaining what that was over there?"

"Forgive me, Your Majesty. We've been on edge since the last attack. And our Alpha told us you and your sisters were here to help us get better so we can fight back and prevent the rogues from hurting anyone else again. But you and your sisters are doing nothing." Gia said.

"Gia..." Her brother warned.

"No, Garret. She needs to hear this. How the hell are those so-called endurance exercises supposed to help us improve our fighting skills? Huh? You call yourself our queen, yet you've done nothing to prove that. Where were you when we were attacked all those time? In your castle, hiding behind your guards like a coward while others risked their lives for you because you're the 'top dog', right?" Gia ranted. Her brother pinched his nose.

"You've got authority issues, Gia, did you know that? Do you know why I haven't had you punished yet? Because all that bullshit you were just letting flow out of your mouth was just that, bullshit. Pardon my language. Now you know what the punishment is for not recognizing the king or queen. I wonder what the punishment will be for insulting the queen as well. (I chuckled at the horrified expressions on their faces as they realized the impact of her actions. But I knew it was just an act.) Oh, you look so pale. Do drink something." I gestured to the glasses of juices set on the table. Gia grabbed one and gulped it down while Garret just sipped his slowly.

"Your Majesty, please forgive her. She's just on edge with everything that's going on." Garret said.

"Hmmm.... Well, we'll talk about that later. Now tell me, Garret, Gia, do tell me. When did you join this pack?"

"What do you mean, Your Majesty? We've been a part of this pack since we were born." Garret lied.

"Really? Where were you when I visited this pack 4 years ago?"

"Well, uh, um we...uh..." They both stuttered.

"I'm listening."

"We were right here in this pack, Your Majesty. Perhaps you didn't see us." Gia lied, her heart was racing fast as she spoke.

"Is that so? Alright then. Gia, sorry about that knife throw but you will hear from me concerning your insubordination and insults to me. Have a good day. Oh and please call in Beta Alec and his mate for me. You're dismissed." They both stood up and left the room. I smirked.

A few minutes later, a knock sounded on the door. I asked the person to come in. I looked and saw Alec and Rae standing there with a baby in Rae's arms. I stood up and walked over to them to take a closer look at the baby.

"Is this...?" I started to ask.

"Our son." Alec replied with a smile.

"He's so beautiful. What's his name?"

"Jonathan Christopher. We know it's a mouthful but we wanted to name him after both our fathers. But instead of saying all that, we could just call him Jace or JC."

"I think that's perfect. Can I hold him?" They nodded then Rae handed him over to me. I cooed at him causing him to smile up at him.

"Kara and Korra have already seen him. Before you start complaining about being the last to know, we were saving the best for the last, since you are his godmother." Alec said. My head snapped up to look at them in surprise.

"What?"

"Yeah, we couldn't think of anyone better other than you and Nick to be his godparents. Besides who else is gonna teach him how to be cool and how to have girls swooning at his feet like you two? And who else is gonna teach him to fight and look out for his family no matter the circumstance like you?" Rae said with a smile.

"Wow, thank you. I'm honored. I promise to always be there for him. Although I am worried. If he turns out to be like Alec, don't you think having the queen as his godmother will go to his head and boost his ego?" I teased with a mischievous smile.

"Hey, what are you saying, that I have a huge ego?" Alec asked in a mock offended tone.

"Oh no, that's not what we're saying. What we're saying is you have an enormous ego just like Nick's. I just hope you two don't infect Jace with it." Rae said, also teasing.

"Hey, we do not have enormous or huge egos." Nick said from the doorway.

"You're right. It's not enormous. It's humongous. I'll be damned if I let you infect JC with it." I teased once more as Nick stepped further into the room.

"Ok, I will not stand here and watch you paint me and Alec black in front of our godson. He should not be hearing this." Nick said.

"Too late. I'll make sure he does not get egos like either of you two. (We all laughed at that.) I have to go feed him. But um, Kiara you never said why you asked Garret to call us for you." Rae said as I handed Jace back to her.

"Oh yeah, we'll talk about it later. I'll come over tomorrow."

"Why not tonight?" Alec asked a bit slyly.

"I'll be a little busy with something."

"Ok, if you say so. We gotta go." He said, smirking at me before he and Rae left the office, closing the door behind them.

I was in my room getting ready for my date with Nick. I had already taken care of my hair and makeup and was now looking for something to wear.

"Hey, Kiara, I- Whoa, you going somewhere?" I heard Korra ask from behind me.

"Yep, and now I'm looking for something to wear."

"Wow, you can't find something to wear. That's a first." Kara teased.

"Well, I don't exactly have outfits suited for dinner and a stroll at the beach." I said

"Wait, dinner? Oh my God. You're going on a date with Nick." Korra squealed causing Kara to squeal as well.

"Yes, now stop squealing before you burst my eardrums. (I said as I finally pulled what I wanted to wear and went behind the divider in my room and dressed up.The both of them opened their mouths and gaped.) What? Is it not right? Should I change it?"

"No! You look good like always. Besides, in case of any danger you can fight comfortably. I'm surprised it took you long to find this outfit." Kara said.

"Well, it was hanging far back in the closet. I wonder who put it there." I gave Korra a look knowing she had been the one who had unpacked and hanged my clothes for me when we arrived.

"Sorry. Anyways, do you know where he's taking you?" She asked to draw the attention from her flaw.

"No, but I'm sure it's some human restaurant or something along the beach." I picked up a black clutch and put my phone and other essentials into it.

"Well, I guess you'll find out in a bit because he's here." Kara said from her place by my window. I checked the time on the clock on my nightstand.

"Wow, he's on time."

"Yeah. He probably doesn't want to screw up." Korra said just as the doorbell rang. The two of them headed downstairs as I checked myself in the mirror one last time before I went downstairs as well.

"Wow, you look wonderful. I'm beginning think there's no difference between your 'dressing to kill' style and 'dressing to impress' style." Nick said looking at me in awe. I chuckled.

"You think this is her 'dressing to kill'? Nick, this isn't even her 'dressing to impress'. I'll tell you all about her dressing styles after your date now go have fun but not too much fun." Kara teased. We flipped her off and bid both of them goodbye then went outside.

"So where are you taking me, Mr. Mendez?" I asked as we got into the car.

"Well, you'll just have to wait and see, Miss Silver." I grinned at him making him return it.

An hour later, we were seated at a table near one of the windows at Gladstone's Restaurant, laughing.

"You mean to tell me all mighty Brittany Daniels went that low just so she can sink her hooks in you. Wow, Nicki must have had a field day with day." I said in between laughs.

"Yeah. Believe me I was surprised too. Remember what happened during homecoming when she tried to humiliate you and instead humiliated herself." Nick asked while laughing.

"I remember. She had just gotten passed over for homecoming queen by me."

"She was so angry and jealous that her title had been usurped by some girl who had just come into the school. So she had her minions place a bucket of rotten, mushy tomatoes on one of the beams above the stage to be poured on you the moment you accepted the crown. Then to make sure her plan fell into place, she volunteered to be the one to announce you and give you the crown, grudgingly of course. Then, when she gave the signal for the bucket to be tipped, the contents by some miracle or something poured on her instead." Nick said in between laughs causing me to laugh as well.

"Yeah, that 'miracle or something' was Rissa and Ellie, who had seen and heard the whole thing so they combined their magic and pushed the bucket carefully so it would be over her when she signaled for it to be poured."

"Ah, so that's what happened."

"Yeah, and after that she started ranting on and on about how I had taken everything from her then she left the stage in rage and tears while everyone laughed at her. I mean I almost felt sorry for her." We laughed again then Nick asked for the check. Then as promised, we took a stroll down the beach after we left the restaurant, talking and laughing about random things. We got home a little late where like a gentleman, he walked me to the door.

"Thank you for the wonderful evening and dinner, Nick. I really loved it."

"You never cease to amaze me, Kiara. I would have thought this evening was not enough, because you deserve more." He said, taking my hands in his.

"Well, it was enough for me. I haven't been this relaxed in a long time plus you also needed it to relieve you of the stress."

"Ugh, just kiss already." We heard Kara say from above us. We looked up and saw her leaning out of window with Korra.

"You do know no one loves being spied on, right? How long have you two been there?" I asked.

"Since we heard Nick's car drive in." Korra answered.

"Well, get back in before you slip and fall. The Shadow pups are gonna need their trainers on their feet and not in bed with broken bones if they're gonna learn how to fight." I said.

"Ok, mom." They both said mockingly then went back in, closing the window. I looked back to find Nick grinning at me.

"What?" I asked with a smile.

"Nothing. Just enjoying seeing you in big sister/mom mode. Both qualities is what makes you a great queen. That plus your badass-ness. You don't take crap from anyone. Makes me wonder what I did to deserve such a great person like you." I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck causing him to wrap his around my waist.

"You were you, that's what you did. So before you go off getting those ideas again, you deserve me."

"I guess that makes us perfect for each other." He said with a smile.

"Yeah, it does. (He leaned down then and captured my lips with his. I responded immediately and melted into the kiss. We pulled away smiling at each other. Right before we heard squealing from above us.) That just made the night perfect." We kissed again before he left. I entered the house with a smile on my lips and leaned against the door after I closed it. After a couple of minutes of reliving the entire night, I locked up and went upstairs to my room where My sisters attacked me with questions which I spent the rest of the night answering.
