Kiara's P.O.V
ð¶ "....I wanna taste the sun
Cause baby I'm born to run
I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one
And I, I wanna show some skin
Yeah, baby I need the ocean
And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion
And I wanna make it in America
Make it in America...."ð¶
"Kiara! Turn that music down. I'm trying to study here." Korra yelled over the music from her room which was next to mine. Kara, who was with me in my room and on my bed, and I giggled. I got up from the bed and went to pause the music from my laptop on my desk. We both giggled again and went to our sister's room. We watched from the doorway as she tried to solve our math homework.
"Having a little trouble with your report, little sis?" I asked with a smirk. Korra gritted her teeth in annoyance. Korra is the youngest of us. It always annoys her when we call her little sister.
"OK, first of all, you both know I hate it when you call me that. You two are only a few minutes older than me."
"And secondly?" Kara asked, mimicking Korra.
"And secondly, yes I'm having a some trouble with the report. I just can't think of what to write. This writing thing is more your fort than mine, Kiara." Korra answered, turning to look back at her laptop screen. I went to stand behind her chair and looked over her shoulder at the topic.
"Oh, this topic. Kara, this is your fort. We all know while I can help, I just hate this particular topic." I said calling my sister over to help while I went to sit on Korra's bed. While Kara helped her write, I took out my phone and checked my texts and email messages. An hour later, Korra threw her hands up and exclaimed.
"Yes! Hah, thanks sis. Couldn't have done it without you." I looked up from my phone to see Korra hugging Kara. I giggled and went back to my phone. Just then a knock sounded on the door.
"Come in." Kara invited. The door opened to reveal Eliara, head lady of all the castle servants and advisor to the queen, our mom.
"Your Highnesses." She greeted with a bow.
"What is it, Eliara?" I asked.
"Your parents have asked for your presence in His Majesty's office. The queen said to tell you to hurry." We chuckled softly since we knew why mom said that. We are almost never on time whenever our parents call for us.
"Thank you, Eliara. We'll go there right away. You may go." Kara said.
"I can't leave. Your mother requested that I bring all three of you before I can leave to my duties. So let's move it along, girls."
"You know, if not for the fact that you've been taking care of us since we were kids and that we love you, you wouldn't be speaking to us like that." Korra pointed out as we followed behind to our father's office. We all giggled at that. Soon we reached the office then Eliara knocked on the door. Mom opened the door then she dismissed Eliara back to her work.
"Come in, girls, your father wants to speak to all three of you." We all entered to see my dad sitting at his desk. Mom went to sit by him while we sat in front of him. He then looked up from his paperwork and smiled at us.
"Girls."
"Hi, Dad." We chorused.
"Eliara said you wanted to speak us, Dad." I said, going straight to the point.
"Yes. Well, your mother and I, have decided to send you three off to finish your schooling at Palisades Charter High School in California. you'll be staying in a house on the territory of the Shadow Pack. Their alpha is a very good friend of mine, he's agreed to have you there. As we speak, your things are being packed up by the servants." Dad informed us.
"Why the sudden move, dad?" Korra asked.
"You'll understand when it's time. Now go to rooms, you leave first thing in the morning." Kara and Korra nodded and got up to leave but I remained seated.
"Kiara, aren't you coming?" Kara asked.
"You guys go ahead. I'll come in a few. I want to discuss something with mom and dad." I said, with a smile.
"Ok." They said and left. I then turned to mom and dad.
"What is it, sweetheart?" Mom asked.
"Why don't you start by telling me what's really going on? Why are you really sending us to California? And don't tell me I'll know when the time comes. As future ruler of our kind, I need to know what's going on. You said so yourself." I said. Mom and Dad smiled at me.
"And you're always using our words against us. You're gonna be a great queen, darling." Dad said.
"Note taken. Now tell me what's going on?"
"Sweetie, we can't." Mom said. They both had worried expressions on.
"There've been more attacks, haven't there? They're getting close to us, aren't they?"
"Yes. Which is why we're sending you three away, so you can be safe. We'll call you back when you're done with your schooling and we've sorted things out." Dad explained.
"But I should be here with you, helping you to fight and figure things out."
"No, we need you safe and to protect your sisters. In case of anything, we need our children and our kind's future rulers to be safe and sound. Please, sweetheart. Go with your sisters and protect them." Mom explained.
"Ok, mom and dad, I'll go so I can protect Kara and Korra."
"Thank you, honey. Don't worry. Eliara will be going with you as well as a few trusted servants and guards." I nodded and excused myself to my room. I took a shower and put on a pink satin chemise nightgown and its night robe and jumped into bed with my tab. I researched on the school we were being transferred to. "Not bad," I thought when I was done reading about the school. I put the tab on the nightstand and got up from my bed to stand on my balcony. I sighed and sat down in one of the couches I had there and enjoyed the breeze. The silence was interrupted when I heard the door to my room open. I turned and saw my mom entering and come out to the balcony, taking a seat by me on the couch.
"Hey, sweetie." She said with a smile.
"Hey, mom." I responded, returning the smile.
"You alright?" She asked.
"Yeah. It's just..."
"I get it. You feel like you're being uprooted and without prior warning. It's a lot to take in and it's not like we gave you girls sometime to say your goodbyes. I understand, darling but you know that we wouldn't do something like this if it wasn't important and imperative that we do so for your safety."
"I know, mom and I understand. It's just you guys are not going to be there for our birthday for the first time in 18 years. It's just not gonna be the same without you guys being there."
"Oh honey, I understand. But you know that no matter how far we are apart, we're always gonna be there with you girls." I nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, I know." Mom returned the smile and opened her arms, beckoning me to come into them.
"Come here." I moved closer to her side and into her arms and lay down on her lap. She then started humming and singing a song I knew very well, while stroking my hair softly. Mom used to sing it to us for us to fall asleep when we were kids. As she sang, I started feeling sleepy. By the time the song ended, I was fast asleep in mom's arms. "Works every time till now." I heard her whisper softly.
Ophelia's P.O.V
After I ended the song, I realized Kiara was fast asleep in my arms. I chuckled softly and whispered softly, "Works every time till now."
I ran my hand over her hair as she slept then I mind-linked Reginald and asked him to come to Kiara's room. He came minutes later and joined us on the balcony. I placed my finger against my lip to signal him to quiet down.
"The song still works, huh? Even now that they're grown up." He whispered with a smile.
"Of course. Come on, help me put her on her bed." I said, as I tried to shift Kiara so I could lift her.
"Let me, my love." Reginald said then he lifted Kiara from my arms and lap and into his arms and carried her inside her room and over to her bed. I followed him in and closed the balcony doors after me. I joined Reg by her bedside and we watched one of our angels sleep.
"I'm gonna miss them so much." I said.
"They're only going away for a year, Ophelia." I gave him a look.
"Even still, they've never been away from us for so long."
"I know, my love but it's for the best. We can't let anything happen to them. Come on, let's leave our angel to sleep." I nodded and kissed Kiara on her forehead.
"Goodnight, my little wolf. We love you." I said then we left the room closing the door softly behind us.
"Ophelia, did you inform Eliara about everything she needs to know?" Reg asked me.
"Yes Reginald. She knows what to do. She has also vowed to protect our children with her life. You know she would never let us down."
"Good. Now let's go and see the witch about the cloaking spell." He said.
"The witch has a name and it's Auriana," We heard a voice say from behind us.
"Forgive me, dear friend." Reg said with a smile as we turned to face the seer/witch of the royal family, Auriana, half witch-half werewolf. Auriana waved off what he said.
"Whatever. Anyway, the cloaking spell for the girls and those going with them has been set in motion. I have also put a boundary spell on the house they're going to be in so that no unwelcome guests can enter, even if the princesses invited them in. And by unwelcome, I mean anyone with a bad intention for the girls, including the rogues. Now my main reason for coming to see you is to inform you that I'm sending my apprentices, Carissa and Elissa, with the girls in place of two of the maids. They will school with the princesses and keep them safe since Eliara can't do that when they're in school. Don't worry. I've already made the necessary arrangements for the both of them."
"Thank you, Auriana. Truly." I said.
"We are eternally grateful." Reg said with a grateful smile.
"Of course, Your Majesties. I would do anything to protect the girls. I will take my leave now." She said with a bow and then left. Reg and I also left to our room and settled into bed, falling asleep as our heads touched the pillows, awaiting what is to come tomorrow.
