Chapter 1

Mr. Bad And I1,178 words~6 min read

Kat's POV:

The soft hum of the ceiling fan barely masked the sound of birds chirping outside. I was deep in sleep, curled up under my soft blanket, enjoying my sleep when I felt someone shake my shoulder.

"Kat"

"Kat"

"It's time, girl. WAKE UP!" Noah shouts from outside my room.

But my lazy self decided to still ignore her and hide my face in my pillow.

"Go away Noah." I said groaning and buried my face deeper into the pillow leaving no space

Noah, however, was relentless. "Nope. It's the first day of sophomore year. You are not sleeping through it!"

I cracked one eye open, glaring at her. "That's exactly why I should sleep through.

Jumping on my bed Noah said, "Wake up, lazy girl, or else we're going to get late if you don't pick up your lazy ass from bed fast."

"What the heck, girl?" I groaned. I said, "Just chill; I am awake now. All thanks to you." I sat up and leaned against my headboard.

Noah rolled her eyes and yanked the blanket away. "Kat. You have five minutes before we leave. Move it. Now chop - chop"

"Good morning to you too," I said glaring,

"Hey, hurry up; you don't want to get late on your first day of college. Right?" she said happily.

Yeah, finally I finished my first year of college successfully, and after summer break, it's my first day of my second year.

"Ok, fine, girl; just give me 10 minutes and I will try to be ready as soon as possible," I said while sitting up on my bed.

I checked my phone. It's 7 am, and college starts in 30 minutes. Gosh, now I really need to hurry up, or else I'm going to be late on my first day of secondary year.

Grumbling, I dragged myself out of bed and stumbled toward the bathroom

Quickly after taking a shower, I dressed up in my blue shirt and black jeans and made my way downstairs while munching my energy bar.

Uh, no time for breakfast.

By the time I got ready and made my way downstairs, Emma and Bella were already waiting by the door. Bella twirled her car keys around her fingers.

"Finally," she said with a smirk. "Thought we'd have to leave you behind."

Kat yawned. "Hmm. Not a bad idea, honestly."

We all piled into Bella's car—a slightly worn-out but well-loved vehicle we'd pitched in to buy together last year. It was more than just transportation; it was a symbol of our friendship and love towards each other.

I sit in the back seat next to Emma. Bella is driving today, and Noah has called shots and is now sitting in the passenger seat.

Let me tell you all that how we four become best friends.

Emma is my first friend since college days and also my roommate when I was living on a college campus. We kind of hit with each other and quickly became friends, who are inseparable from each other and then she introduced me to Bella & Noah, girls who live next door to us in the dorm. And from that day, we started to hang out with each other, and now we all four are inseparable and decided to shift in an apartment together near college; it's just a 5-minute' drive from here.

Cool. Right?

"Will you please turn on the music? The silence is killing me," Emma said, screaming and snapping me out of my thoughts.

Noah switched to the radio station. Yeah, it's my favorite singer's song, 'Stitches by Shawn Mendes.'

"Now that's the real way of starting your day, man," I said happily.

Everyone started laughing.

Soon we reached college, and as expected, Bella parked just outside the designated parking lot, earning an amused glance from Emma. "Umm. You know there's space inside, right?"

"Chill girls. This is tradition," Bella said, flipping her hair dramatically.

The campus was buzzing with students—some eager, some dragging their feet, all caught up in the rush of the first day back. The familiar scent of coffee, fresh notebooks, and summer still lingering in the air filled their senses as they walked toward their first class.

We made our way to our lockers and grabbed our stuff. Yeah, luckily our lockers are next to each other.

Checking the schedule, my first class is English. Making my way to class alone, I enter the classroom and sit in the front row.

What do you all think, that I am a backbencher? No. I love studies. Hehe, just kidding.

Mr. Henderson started teaching after the bell rang.

English was my first lecture of the day. I sat through it, half-listening as the professor went over the syllabus. The words blurred together, my mind already drifting to lunch and same happened with my next class, everything was in blurr.

By the time the bell rang, signaling that it's time for lunch break, I made a beeline for our usual spot in the cafeteria and waited for my friends, soon they reached one by one and sat down. The table by the window. The one which we have claimed as ours last year.

"So, what's the verdict on day one?" Emma asked, popping a fry into her mouth.

"Survivable," I admitted.

"Boring," Bella added.

"I'm just glad we don't have math," Noah said with a sigh of relief.

Let me tell you guys she hates math with her whole heart.

After their final class, we all trudged back home, exhaustion settling over us. I walk towards the parking area where my friends are waiting inside the car for me, and we drive back to our apartment. But despite the long day, there was an undeniable restlessness in the air.

Emma flopped onto the couch, stretching her arms over her head. "Sooo... party?"

I raised a brow. "Already?"

"Now it's party time," Bella said, jumping like a child.

"Guys, I'm not going anywhere today," I said.

"Hey, today is our first day of college, and now it's party time, "Noah said.

"And no, we are not taking no for answers, "Bella said.

"Pretty please," Emma said with her puppy eyes.

"We survived day one," Niva said, kicking off her shoes. "That deserves a celebration."

Sighing, "Ok, fine, but no drinks, ok?" I spoke.

"Oh girl, seriously, you are no fun," giving me a disappointed look. Noah said in return she got a serious look from me, which made her shut up.

Sighing in defeat, they agreed, and then they started their happy dance while screaming.

Bella grinned, pulling out her phone. "I might know of a place."

"Let's have some fun tonight, girls," Emma said.

I hesitated for a second but then smirked. "Fine. But if we're doing this, we do it right."

And just like that, their night was set.
