CHAPTER 6: I’M SORRY

Alessandro had thought about asking his brother to accompany April to the kingdom of Laios, but seeing the state of anxiety she was in, he doubted he would leave Maya’s side for a few days unless she was completely fine.

When Cassian calmed down, he asked.

"Why did you call me?"

Alessandro hesitated for a moment whether to tell him or not why he had been called.

"What’s wrong Lessan? Why aren’t you saying anything?"

"April is going to the kingdom of Laios to close the Hades rift, I made you come because I wanted you to accompany her.."

"I’m sorry Lessan, I would like to accompany her, but I don’t want to leave Maya alone."

"Don’t worry, I understand you perfectly, if I were you I would have refused too."

"But I can stay to take care of the palace and do your job, so you could accompany her."

“I don’t know if April would agree to let me go with her.”

“Why not?”

“She doesn’t want us to leave Lissana alone, and the truth is that I wouldn’t feel comfortable knowing that she won’t see either of her parents.”

“I’m sorry Lessan, I really want to help you, but if I go with her right now, I’d be distracted, I’d just be a nuisance.”

“Don’t worry, Sirius will also go with her, I would have liked it if you could go, to be more at ease, but if that’s not possible, then no way.”

“Even if I don’t go, I’ll take care of finding the best knights to accompany her.”

“No, April wants her trip to be secret, with a large group that would be impossible.”

“It’s true, then why don’t you tell Taren to go with her?”

“Yes, I’ll tell him.”

Cassian stood up and said.

“I’ll go see how Maya is doing.”

“Try to rest, if Maya sees you in that state, it will only make her worry about you.”

Before crossing the door, Cassian stopped and said to him.

“Lessan, I might stay in the palace for a while.”

“You can stay as long as you want, this is your home too.”

“Thank you.”

Cassian was heading to his room when he ran into April in one of the palace hallways.

“Hello Cassian.”

“Aby, were you with Maya?”

“Yes.”

“How is she?”

“Better, she just needs rest, but you don’t look well at all.”

April approached, took his hand and infused her magic into it, all the tiredness and fatigue he had disappeared in an instant, he asked her.

“Why is Maya still feeling bad if you did the same to her?”

“What?”

“She should be fine after you used your magic on her, but she still looks pale and weak.”

“Maya is half fairy so maybe my magic acts differently on her.”

“Maybe you’re right.”

“You should go with her.”

“Aby, Lessan told me that you are going to the kingdom of Laios to close the Hades rift.”

“Yes, I had been putting it off but, but it is dangerous to leave it like that.”

“You still don’t know anything about your sister?”

“No, I have asked Enzo, but he says he doesn’t know anything about Cira either.”

“And you believe him?”

“I don’t think he’s lying, knowing Cira, she will want to kill him when she sees him.”

“It’s been over a year since she disappeared, she was badly injured, do you think she’s dead?”

April remembered the creature that had tried to attack Lissana a month ago, it was a creature born of darkness and it had undoubtedly been sent by Cira, she replied.

“I don’t think so, Cira must be waiting for the best moment to attack, that’s why I want to close the rift that leads to Hades, I won’t let her have more power.”

“Lessan asked me to accompany you but..”

“You can’t go, right?”

“I don’t want to be separated from Maya.”

“Don’t worry, I understand.”

“I really would have liked to accompany you.”

“Actually, I’d rather you stay in the palace, take care of Lissana while I’m gone.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”

“See you later Cassian.”

April headed to Alessandro’s office, when she reached the door, the guards bowed.

She greeted them and asked.

“Is Alessandro inside? Thank you.”

“Yes,? Your majesty.”

April poked her head through the door and seeing that Alessandro was not alone, she asked him.

“Can I come in?”

“Yes, you’ve arrived at a good time.”

April entered, the person who was with Alessandro bowed and introduced herself.

“Greetings, I present to you Her Majesty the Queen, Taren Lacross, captain of the shadows in the service of the king.”

“Nice to meet you Taren.”

Alessandro walked around his desk, stood next to April and said to her.

“Cassian will not be able to accompany you on your trip, so I asked Taren to do so, his skills are similar to Cassian’s.”

“Then I am counting on you to undertake this journey.”

April said as she turned to Taren.

“We can leave whenever Her Majesty wants.”

“Then we will leave tomorrow.”

“As Her Majesty wishes, I will prepare to leave so I will leave.”

When Taren left, April told him.

“Could you send a message to Sirius, I do not want to delay my departure any longer.”

“Of course.”

“Have you treated Maya?”

“Yes, I have.”

“And how is she?”

April didn’t want to talk about Maya’s condition like that, that was something she had told him in secret and she didn’t want to betray his trust. "Better."

"Cassian was very worried about her, I hope she recovers soon."

"Me too."

Alessandre hugged her, leaned down and kissed her, April actively returned the kiss. As they parted their lips, Alessandro pushed aside a reddish lock of April’s hair, placed it behind her ear as he looked at her sweetly and said.

"Take care of yourself on your trip, don’t do anything reckless."

"Don’t worry, I won’t."

April stood on her tiptoes, gave him a soft kiss on the lips and said.

"I won’t risk my life knowing that my family is waiting for me, I will return to you as soon as I can."
