A day of Fun

The week off was almost over. Auau had spent the last few days juggling the quiet moments with Save, trying to balance his work from home and his new life as a husband.

It had been a pleasant time though Save still had moments of quiet withdrawal. The bond between them was growing, but Save had been so wrapped up in his own head that sometimes Auau felt like he was just waiting for Save to fully open up.

But today was different.

Auau stood by the window of their shared living room, staring out at the blue sky. The day was perfect, sunny with a light breeze. He turned to look at Save, who was lounging on the couch, scrolling through his phone. Save had been a bit moody the last couple of days, and Auau thought it might be good to get out of the house for a while, to give Save something fun to focus on.

"Save, what do you think about going to the theme park today?" Auau asked casually, hoping to shake Save out of his funk.

Save looked up, slightly startled. "Theme park?" he repeated. "Why?"

Auau smiled, walking over to the couch and sitting beside him. "Well, you've been cooped up here all week. I thought you might want to have some fun. You know, ride some roller coasters, eat overpriced snacks... all that stuff."

Save hesitated, clearly not convinced. He glanced at the window, his thoughts clouding over for a second. "I don't know... I mean, isn't that something you do with friends or something? You don't have to drag me along just because I'm here."

Auau chuckled softly, nudging Save with his elbow. "It's not about dragging you along. I just want you to have a good time. Besides, we've never really done something like this before, and I think it might be fun." He added with a wink, "Plus, I want to see your reaction on the rides. You can't back out now."

Save rolled his eyes but couldn't help the small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"

Auau leaned in, close enough for their shoulders to touch. "It's a good kind of ridiculous," he teased, giving him a knowing look. "What do you say? We'll get a good meal afterward, too. I'll make sure you don't go hungry."

Save sighed dramatically, but in the end, the lure of the amusement park and Auau's infectious excitement was too much. "Fine, but if I get sick from the roller coasters, you're carrying me home."

Auau grinned. "Deal."

The theme park was packed with people, the atmosphere lively and full of energy. Bright colors, cheerful music, and the sound of excited screams filled the air. Save couldn't help but feel a little giddy despite his initial hesitation.

As they walked through the entrance, Save looked around, wide-eyed at the towering roller coasters and flashing lights. "Wow, this place is huge," he muttered, adjusting his sunglasses as he took it all in.

Auau laughed at his reaction. "I told you. It's pretty amazing, right?" He reached out, nudging Save lightly. "What's the first ride you want to try?"

Save took a deep breath, unsure where to start. "You're not going to drag me onto one of those giant roller coasters, are you?"

"Of course I am," Auau said with an exaggerated grin. "It's either that or the spinning teacups. Your choice."

Save shuddered at the thought of the teacups. "No way. Roller coasters it is."

As they made their way to the line for one of the bigger roller coasters, Save's nerves began to kick in. He wasn't sure he was ready for something that intense, but he didn't want to back down. He glanced at Auau, who was practically bouncing with excitement.

"You're crazy," Save muttered, trying to hide his anxiety behind a sarcastic grin. "You've done this before?"

Auau nodded enthusiastically. "Oh yeah. I used to come here all the time. You'll be fine. I'll even hold your hand if you need me to."

Save raised an eyebrow at him. "I'm not that scared."

Auau smiled knowingly, the mischievous glint in his eyes making Save suspect that Auau knew exactly how he felt.

When their turn finally came, they strapped into the roller coaster seats. Save's heart raced as the car began its slow ascent up the first hill. The tension in his chest grew with every click of the track, and by the time they reached the top, he could barely catch his breath.

"Alright," Auau said with a grin, looking over at Save. "Here we go!"

Before Save could even protest, the coaster plummeted downward, and the world around him turned into a blur of speed and wind. He screamed, hands gripping the safety bar tightly, his heart in his throat. But amid the terror, he couldn't help but laugh. The rush of adrenaline was unlike anything he'd ever experienced.

When the ride finally ended, Save stumbled out of the car, feeling a little dizzy. "Okay, that was..." He paused, his wide eyes slowly turning into a grin. "That was fun!"

Auau laughed and slapped him on the back. "I knew you'd like it. Told you it was going to be amazing."

Save took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. "Alright, alright, I'll admit it. You were right."

They both walked toward the next ride, laughing and talking about their favorite parts of the coaster. Save was starting to feel more at ease, his earlier reservations melting away with every new experience.

As the day went on, they tried more rides, ate overpriced food, and even got matching goofy hats from a gift shop. By the time the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the park, Save felt lighter than he had in weeks.

"This was a good idea," Save admitted, his tone soft as they walked toward the exit. He had never imagined himself having so much fun, and in a strange way, the experience had brought them closer.

Auau smiled at him, a warmth in his eyes. "I'm glad you think so. I just wanted you to enjoy the day. No worries, no stress." He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "Just you and me."

Save looked up at him, feeling an unfamiliar flutter in his chest. Sometimes, it was enough to just be present, to enjoy the moment with someone who cared.

"Thanks," Save said softly, a smile tugging at his lips. "For today. For everything."

Auau glanced at him, his smile gentle. "Anytime."

As they walked out of the park, the last remnants of daylight painted the sky with soft hues of pink and orange. Save couldn't help but smile, the happiness of the day slowly settling in his chest. He felt light, like he could finally let go of the doubts that had been weighing him down. The theme park had been exactly what he needed. Fun, laughter, and a chance to just enjoy life.

When they reached the car, Save stopped for a moment, turning to Auau with a soft, almost shy smile.

Without thinking, Save leaned in, his breath catching as he reached up and pressed a quick, gentle peck to Auau's lips. It was soft, almost fleeting, but there was no mistaking the feeling behind it. His heart fluttered in his chest, and he pulled away almost immediately, his face flushing as he looked up at Auau.

"Uh... sorry, I-" Save started, but Auau's warm smile immediately cut him off.

Auau's hand came up to cup Save's cheek, his thumb brushing gently over his skin. "You don't need to apologize," he said softly, his voice laced with affection. "It's okay."

Save's heart skipped a beat at the tenderness in Auau's touch. He stood there, frozen for a moment, the warmth from the kiss still lingering between them. He had been too afraid to admit it to himself, but in that brief moment, something clicked inside him.

Auau leaned in, his lips brushing lightly against Save's forehead before he whispered, "I like that."

Save swallowed, his face burning hotter than he expected. "You do?"

Auau chuckled, the sound low and comforting. "Yeah. I do." He stepped back slightly, his hand still resting on Save's arm. "You're full of surprises, Save."

Save met his gaze, his smile growing a little more genuine. "I guess you just never know what's gonna happen."

Auau laughed softly, reaching for the car door handle. "True. But I'm glad you decided to surprise me like that."

As they got in the car and started heading home, the air between them charged with a new kind of understanding.
