Chapter 16 My Boyfriend

When we finally reach my car after a few hours of walking Theo gets so excited I thought he was going to explode. The little, guy has never seen a human automobile before. His words, not mine. While I am driving he plays with every button possible.

Theo doesn’t know much about the outside world having never left Elf country. I feel like his mentor and I have decided that while we look for Queen Merda I will try to show Theo the good parts of the outside world. Being with me already will have him witness all the bad that comes with my job. But we can at least try to have fun while we travel.

Once we reach the nearest town we stop and eat ice cream. Theo had to try about five different flavors and ended up with a brain freeze. We also went into the local grocery store and I showed Theo how we humans shop. The trip ended up with us buying way too many snacks.

Now we're staying at a cheap motel. I decided to order in because I'm already exhausted. If this is what having a child is like then I don’t think I will ever be ready. I had to keep Theo from running off several times and he walked in front of traffic twice. Luckily for me, he is still in one piece.

We enter the room both of our hands full of snacks and an overnight bag. Theo rushes in dropping his bags right by the door. He runs over to the first bed he sees and jumps up and down on it.

“Wow, these are so lumpy! Swift are all human beds this uncomfortable? No wonder you have back problems.”

“I do not have back problems. I’m only twenty-one! Now get off the bed, Theo! That one is mine. You can have the other.” I shout and Theo whines and gets up from my bed.

Before Theo reaches his bed he spots the TV remote and starts flipping through the channels. He makes the funniest faces and then flips to another channel. It’s hilarious but I need to put our stuff up.

I put all the snacks away and then lay on my bed. I grab my phone out of my bag and realize it’s dead now. I put it on the charger and use the phone in the room to order pizza for us. Theo says it's one of his favorite foods.

As I lay down my eyes start to shut but then I hear a knock and stand up. The pizza must be here already. “I’ll get it, Theo.” Theo doesn’t answer me just continues flipping through the TV channels.

When I reach the door I can already smell the warm pizza. My stomach starts to growl. I open my door and I’m surprised. It’s Zane who is holding the pizza delivery guy by the back of his shirt. The poor delivery drivers' feet are dangling above the ground.

“Zane what the hell!” His eyes are red and he growls at me, obviously pissed.

“Do you know how hard it was to track you down? Why haven’t you answered your phone?” I open my mouth to answer but then Zane looks over my shoulder into the room.

In a flash, Zane zooms across the room. He drops the pizza delivery guy and grabs Theo shoving him against the wall with his hand wrapped around his throat.

“Who the hell is this? Tell me elf do you think she tastes as good as she looks?” He slams Theo’s head back into the wall. “I will kill you slowly for touching what is mine!” He growls and I’m pissed. What the hell is wrong with Zane and why is he being so possessive over me?

I grab the pizza from the delivery guy and slam the door in his face. Sitting the pizza on my bed I run over to Zane and Theo. Zane still hasn’t let go and Theo looks surprised and terrified.

“Swift, why is a vampire trying to kill me?”

“I’m sorry Theo. Zane put him down now! Theo is just helping me with a mission. Nothing else is going on!” I’m not sure if Zane even hears me. He continues to glare at Theo and growls again before dropping him.

Theo falls to the ground and I help him up. “Don’t touch me again vampire next time I won’t let you off so easily.” Theo glares at Zane who takes another menacing step towards him. I put my hand on Zane’s chest holding him back.

“Theo please don’t make him angrier.” I turn to Zane and push him. He looks surprised at my action and I push him again. “Who do you think you are coming into my hotel room and bothering my friend!”

“Friend? He is an elf and they can’t be trusted!” Zane looks from Theo to me. “Can you blame me for being worried? You weren’t answering your phone then I find you in a motel with another guy.” I start laughing and soon I can’t control it.

Zane looks unamused and folds his arm across his chest. “It’s not that funny. You're beautiful any guy would want you.” He mutters.

I stop laughing and look at Zane. He has dark circles around his eyes and his hair is disheveled like he hasn’t slept in days. Maybe he was super worried.

“I’m sorry Zane but Theo is only fifteen. He's a kid. Nothing is going on between us. Trust me I want no one but you and even you are pushing it.” I smile making Zane smirk and grab ahold of my waist pulling me to his chest.

Placing a strand of hair behind my ear Zane starts to whisper. “Damn, I missed you so much, Sasha. My body craves to be near you. I want you.” He leans forward placing his lips gently on mine.

Our kiss deepens and I wrap my arms around his neck. His tongue meets mine and his hand slides up the back of my shirt rubbing my back. I start to get lost in the moment when a voice interrupts.

“Swift what the hell! Your dating a vampire? You didn’t tell me that you naughty girl.” Theo is right beside us now his arms folded and he is looking us both up and down.

I pull away from Zane who is hesitant to let go. But I manage to get away but still, he places his hand on my lower back. “Sorry, Theo it’s still sort of new. Plus it’s kind of strange a vampire hunter dating a vampire.”

Theo shakes his head. “I would think so. People would freak out if they got word of this.” He replies making Zane growl.

“No one will hear about this. So tell me what’s the plan? I want to help.” He says.

I start waving my hands frantically. “Damn, it guys! I work alone! How many times do I have to say this?” Zane and Theo both just stare at me before they turn to each other.

“So Queen Merda was on her way to Squires Market. I think we should check there first.” Theo tells Zane.

“Great I've been there before it’s mostly witches and older supes. It’s in a secluded area so we should scout the woods nearby also.”

Theo and Zane continue talking about their plan like I’m not even here. Sighing I grab a slice of pepperoni pizza and begin eating it. After I'm done I grab my phone and scroll through it checking my emails for anything new.

When my eyelids start to feel heavy I feel the covers move and an arm wraps around my waist. A gentle kiss is felt on my neck. “Good night love.” Is the last thing I hear before I fall back asleep.
