Karen glanced around the firstâclass cabin, relieved that no one else seemed to be paying attention to
their spat.
âCan you let go already? Why would I run? I havenât done anything wrong!â
âHavenât you?â Jeffreyâs eyes widened in disbelief.
Matching his gaze with her own defiant stare, Karen shot back, âWhat have I done wrong, huh? Tell
me!â
âYouâ¦â Jeffrey choked on his words, unable to voice his true grievance in such a public setting. But
then a thought struck him, and he blurted out, âYou took my hoodie, didnât you? You never gave it back
to me. That hoodie cost me a pretty penny, 950 bucks.â
Karen was stunned into silence. Did he really buy a firstâclass ticket just to chase after a hoodie? Was
there some special significance to that piece of clothing?
âNow, give me back my hoodie!â
âItâs not with me. I left it at the hotel front desk when I checked out,â Karen frowned, puzzled. âDidnât
they tell you when you checked out?â
Jeffrey was taken aback.
Of course, they didnât! Because he hadnât checked out. He had no plans to return home today!
The only reason he was on this flight was that heâd pulled some strings and paid through the nose to
catch this woman!
âWhy are you just standing there? Go back to the hotel and get your hoodie before the plane takes off!â
Karen urged him, almost as frantic as if the hoodie were hers.
Jeffrey felt a momentary illusion that he was indeed just there for the hoodie, spurred by her urgency.
âIâve already bought my ticket. You can reimburse me for that.â
âCome on, Mr. Turner, are you really short on cash?â
âI am! You insisted on taking my hoodie, so youâre responsible.â Jeffrey clung to his excuse, not about
to let it go.
Karen rolled her eyes, silently cursing him for being so petty. She wanted to give him a piece of her
mind but figured it wasnât worth itâthey wouldnât be crossing paths again anyway.
âHow much was it?â
âTwo grand.â Jeffrey whipped out his phone.
âAre you kidding me?â Karen nearly spat in disgust. âNo way! Iâll give you one hundred, take it or leave
it.â
Jeffrey casually took a seat next to her, his imposing presence making her instinctively scoot back.
âOne hundred works. Add me on WhatsApp and Iâll send you my bank details.â
âWhy not just say your bank details? I can do a bank transfer right now.â Karen schooled him as if he
were a clueless aristocrat.
Once she got rid of Jeffrey, she could get back to her muchâneeded rest.
âI donât do it that way. I only accept money after you add me as a friend.â
âNo way.â Karen pocketed her phone decisively. âI have no intention of adding you on any contact list,
be it my phone number, WhatsApp, or anything else.â
She was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
âWhy not?â Jeffrey couldnât grasp this one simple fact. âI havenât done anything to you. You were the
one who came onto me yesterday!â
Karen didnât want to hear it.
âBut wasnât it a mutual thing yesterday?â
âYes!â
âSo, after itâs done, we go our separate ways. Isnât that an unspoken rule we both know?â
Jeffrey narrowed his eyes, taking a deep breath. âSo, you treated me like a highâclass fling, huh?â
Karen nodded without hesitation, âExactly.â
âYouâre so wrong!â Jeffreyâs voice rose. âSo, you booked yourself a firstâclass seat on the return flight to
scout for your next highâclass fling, is that it?!â
